Here is another image from yesterday mornings sunrise at Abraham Lake. This amazing light did not last very long so it required a lot of running on the ice to try and find some different foreground. At one point my ice cleat flew off while in full sprint and I nearly took a spill, but luckily my ever so graceful arm flailing slowed me down enough that I did not fall.

Some wild Rosebay Willowherb (Chamerion angustifolium) growing in a ditch. GND and Gradual Grey filters were used for the sky. Even I compensated the exposure by -2.0 EV, I couldn't prevent the sun from being blown out. HDR processed and tone mappen in Photomatix Pro from a single 14-bit RAW file. Also see:

Here you can find beautiful landscapes: forest, meadows, lakes, rivers and streams. Most amazing, that here's a lot of wild animals: moose, deer, boars, foxes, beavers, hundreds species of birds and thousands species of insects.

Magical new location I found whilst exploring the headlands of Emerald Beach, NSW Australia. This cave cuts right through the headland and out the other side. This photo doesn't exactly do it justice, however I plan on going back when the tides low and the lights right. I'm hoping for a sunrise if the tide decides to cooperate with me...

This photo reminds me that it pays to get yourself out shooting because you never know what the sky might do. I waded out into the water there for some different compositions and was standing on a crusty layer of white salt. I'm not sure how far off shore the salt deposits go, but it makes for a unique shoreline to be certain.

Taking a different way to the waters edge, my timing was perfect. I was able to get a few shots just when the colors were at their peak. The warm colors made the water look deceivingly warm, but I wasn't about to test it.

I focused on this rock under the water, allowing my nd grad to subdue the sky while maintaining the reflection.

On a side note, the colors were so vibrant, I actually reduced the saturation and vibrancy. Quite a bit might I add.

An early rise of 4am started the day in a good direction to get my little brother in law and I to Rocky Mountain National Park on time. Being from Missouri, Ben doesn't have a ton of opportunities to hike in the mountains. So, while visiting for Thanksgiving, I wanted to give him a chance to do so.

We pulled into the parking lot without another soul in sight. A clean slate of fresh three inch powder covered everyone's tracks from the days before. It was our own winter wonderland.

We quickly made our way up along the trail I had been on so many other times, however. Passing Nymph Lake, I did make one wrong turn since the trail had a decent drift over it, throwing off my memory of which way the trail forked.

We waded through waste deep snow at this point. Ben became superman and smashed a way up to a ridge line that we worked back to the path.

Once we were back on track, it was no time at all before we stood in front of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain. I quickly setup for my shots watching the early dawn light slowly melt over the peaks. The wind began to pick up above tree line and the snow began to soar, creating a huge flame from the vibrant morning light.

Sharing the moment with Ben was pretty awesome. And I do believe that our shouts and hoots in response to the beauty didn't go unnoticed since two other photographers surprised us during our war cries.

Other than dunking my legs in icy water, it was a fabulous day to share with my little bro.

Maintaining a quick pace hiking up Mt. Belford (14,197 ft), one may forget to take a moment and look back to see what ground you've covered. So, during the sunrise, you can bet I looked back to see the sun barely caressing the tops of the nearby mountains. And having wildflowers everywhere made the moment that much more magical.

Mother nature spreading it on. From the ground to the sky, there was so much color, I thought I'd opened up a box of crayons. There were wildflowers popping out all over the place and the sky was lit up like the fourth of July. And then there I was trying to get as many shots of as much stuff as I could. Scrambling from here to there while my brother just sat and watched.

The tallest mtn. on the left is Mt. Belford (14,197 ft) and on the right is Missouri Mtn. (14,067 ft). Both were conquered on the trip, as well as Mt. Oxford (14,153 ft). Such beautiful country.

A friend of mine finally had some time off of work and decided to drive up from Denver to hang out. We had a great time long boarding around town and getting a couple of beers, but once the afternoon was over, we headed up to the Cherokee State Wildlife Area.

There is a plateau I have been wanting to climb up for some time now and I knew there would be a terrific view, especially with the wildflowers popping up. Even though we were destroyed by the mosquitoes, we still had great light and a good visit. Definitely a new favorite on the property.

Mountaineering in the italian part of the Massif du Mont Blanc (Alps), on the feet of the Entreves peaks (3500m high) on the Glacier du Géant, on July 25th.

I so love this picture because it represents what I love the most in mountaineering: it's like we're walking in the air, and there's no other place you can be nearer to the sky (exepted plane which I looove too, hah!). Osmosis with mother Nature.

On a cool June day in Grand Teton National Park, heavy cloud cover obscured the magnificent peaks of the range. While on a short day hike, I kept my eyes towards them, regardless of the clouds. Diffused light combined with sporadic breaks in the clouds created a wonderful effect on the rough and jagged rock, contrasted with the bright, smooth snow.
