Recovery Chapter 1Alice just thinks the doctors are being overprotective. He's healed up pretty well since he was brought there, and he wanted to go home. But his doctors had asked him to stay put, mainly for what they called 'observation.'

Observation. That word made him uncomfortable. It made it seem that the reason they were keeping him there was to see if he would snap. What he'd been through was awful, certainly, but he didn't think that was the reason for it either.
He'd done time, after all, in one of those nut houses. The funny farm. The quiet room. He had the uncomfortable feeling that they were watching, and waiting, for him to flip his lid, as had so many others who'd been in his position.
He didn't think it was fair.
Before anyone of their social workers could come in and decide Alice's fate for him, he checked himself out. His doctors weren't happy, of course, but they relented, sending him home with his medication and numbers to call if he needed further assistance. He tossed everything in

"But how does this happen? I'm a man, this doesn't happen!" Alice wails, pacing a determined circle around Jareth's bed. The Goblin King rolls his eyes. Alice was wearing a hole into the very expensive carpet, and quite frankly, Jareth was getting tired of having this conversation.
"You're a lady now, dove. This is all completely natural and expected." He explains, flipping the page in his book.
"This isn't natural!" Alice says, rounding on the other man. "This is all your fault! Why didn't you remember birth control?"
Jareth pauses in his reading, looking up to Alice. "Birth control?"
"Yes." Alice shouts, tugging at his own hair. "Why weren't you wearing a condom? You should have been more responsible!"
Jareth blinks at Alice for a moment. Slowly, he closes his book. He sets it aside and scoots closer to the edge of the bed, lowering his feet to the floor.
