Guide on how to create vector-style rasters (OLD)EDIT - Dec 08, 2013 - This is OLD, like really, really OOOOOOLLLLD and outdated, and there are better methods out there. I don't even do vectors this way anymore. That said, it's still useful as a guide on how to use the pen tool to make shapes specifically for pony vectors in a manner where they're layered efficiently easily modifiable. Just felt the need to point this out as I am still getting messages from people who don't understand that this is old and that I know there are alternative methods. I thank you all for your input.
Before I say anything, if you're familiar with proper vectoring at all then once you've heard what I do you'll realize I'm not making "true" vectors with the process I use. This might seem a bit odd because what I do means that if I wanted to make a larger version of the image I would basically have to scale the paths I've made and re-"paint" the whole image, but I'm just doing these for fun so I make them large to begin with; the end re

I don't think I had been online for the past 2 weeks (personally) - Because just two Wednesdays ago.. I got a new job at a studio! I'm working on a new mobile game NDA, so I can't say much, of course!
This studio job has changed a lot for me (and my family). The little one is in daycare now. My loving partner takes the baby to daycare in the morning, and picks him up after work. Also, it takes me two hours to get to work (ahh, the joys of commute-ing in the Los Angeles region) to-and-from work. =w= By the time I get home (approx 8PM), it's time for baby's bedtime, so I have no more than 30 minutes to really enjoy time with my family. I'm in bed by 9:30 so that I can wake up at 5:45! Haha, it's really really different than what I'm used to, but I am honestly having so much fun, I'm in an up-whirl of happy emotions.
I love my job!!
Which brings me to those who have ordered my Cyber Monday Deal:

And honestly, I'm not feeling it. Doug Walker (aka The Nostalgia Critic) has been doing a series where he's been vlogging his experience watching the original Avatar series for the first time (Take a look they're actually really good go watch them! http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/thatguywiththeglasses/specials ). He's a new fan to the series and his enthusiasm and critique of the original series has only helped to intensify my loathing and hatred of The Legend of Korra's disastrous season finally.
The more I remember how amazing and awesome the original Avatar series is, the less I am interested in picking up the pieces and following these unlikable characters through another series of exploits, especially after haphazardly killing off the main villain in such a clumsy and awkward way. Not only that, but there's no growth to the main character at all. There's no journey of her learning how to be an Air Bender the way there was

Ok…now comes a topic I really have been dying to speak up about. This is becoming an annoyance not just with me but many people in the fandom. Bear with me on this cause it's a LOT of stuff. It may seem it's just about me whining or complaining but this will try and be as critical but respectable as possible. I've been noticing a lot of problem with the Equestria Daily site l

This was a drawing challenge from :iconSenshiStock: and :iconmostlyguystock:!
Hands and feet are pretty hard to draw. Lots of artists struggle with them! Even when other things come naturally, hands and feet can still be quite a problem. The best way to get better at drawing hands and feet is to study them!
The Challenge: Sketch or draw 50 feet AND 50 hands from reference photos or life.
Deadline: The deadline has passed for this challenge, but you can still participate and make yourself a better artist!
You can post them as one giant post, in groups, one at a time, however you want! But please make a FOLDER in your gallery and put them all in there then send me a link to the folder. (If you do one submission with ALL of them at once, then you don't need the folder.)

I’ve seen far too many people on dA who post exercise after exercise, writing in the artist comments that once again they’ve failed, they’ve read hundreds of books, studied the masters for so many years, and they still cannot draw a photorealist rending of a man’s head. First of all let me say that I highly respect “self taught” artists and I’m not discouraging anyone who chooses (or must) go that route. However, setting realistic goals and finding your niche is extremely important. Let me say this: not everyone will be able to paint like a Baroque period artist! But that doesn't mean you can't be a painter, it just means

For reasons beyond my comprehension, the frequency that I watch the show has dropped to almost nothing as of late. I still haven't seen a handful of episodes from season 4, I haven't touched EqG or Rainbow Rocks, and I couldn't tell you what the last episode I watched was. And sometimes I wonder why I have an entire account devoted to these strange cat/horse/girl-ponies. Then I open up netflix and make myself watch a few episodes, and I remember.
I love these cartoon horses.
They're so sweet, innocent, and funny. And goddamn they're cute.
It's so easy to get caught up in the fandom and the fanon. In a fanbase this rabid it's pretty much unavoidable. There's so much to take in and to consume that you lose sight of what you were a fan of in the first place.
So why not take a little time to watch the show and remind yourself why you're h

Strange Idea #84 - Advanced Path ControlI think most of us have figured it out by now--Inkscape needs a width tool.More Like This
I can see people pointing at Power Strokes right now, going, "Are you blind or something?"
No. I hate Power Strokes the current Power Stroke width interpolators--they usually end up doing something like this:
That is a completely excessive amount of nodes for a two point path--In fact, that particular path could be represented with a skeletal path effect and look exactly the same:
Do you see what I'm getting at here? Having fewer nodes decreases calculation time on a path when you are editing it.
Now, I suppose, to the main proposal here.
2 new LPEs (Live Path Effects)
Advanced Skeletal Control (should be developed first)
Advanced Path Control (after ASC is fully developed and debugged)
1 new tool - the Width tool - works in conjunction with these two LPEs
Advanced Skeletal Control - works with the Width Tool to craft specific control poi
KefkaFloyd's Guide to Fixing Night ColorsI don't read Ponychan. I prefer to post on mlponies.com, where I run part of the organization. But I couldn't help but be amused when someone linked me to a ponychan thread discussing what Scratch's color is. The discussion was shallow to say the least, given that none of them were actually taking a deep look at what her color is. Scratch is generally assumed to be white, but that is wrong. Scratch's true color is an off-white, or a warm white, like a cream color. You wouldn't immediately guess this from her one and only appearance in the show, but we'll get to that in a moment.More Like This

This past weekend, I received an email from one of the top Inkscape developers asking if I would be willing to work with them to submit some of the new features in Ponyscape to upstream Inkscape! This is super exciting, and it gives me the opportunity to help contribute to one of the largest and well-known open-source projects! I believe that technically I will be joining the development team, and will be working on patching upstream Inkscape to add things like the objects dialog and tagging system. So what does this mean for Ponyscape? Not really too much will change for the project itself... I will still be working on Ponyscape and regularly contribute patches from it to upstream Inkscape. There are two big advantages this will have for Ponyscape: I won't need to keep track of as many changes when I merge from upstream Inkscape before a Ponyscape release and the features which are going into upstream Inkscape will receive additional testing to make them more stabl
ABOUT PONY HEARTSOkay if there's one piece of work that I've ever made in my entire life of drawing that I regret more than anything, it would be those fucking pony hearts.More Like This
Literally every single day (since the day I made them) I get 1-10 notes or comments about someone stealing, tracing, recolouring, selling my work here or somewhere else. So naturally, I fucking hate those things. I probably would've done them a lot more if I didn't have to deal with art theft twenty times a day.
To those of you who have been informing me of these thefts from time to time, I really appreciate it as always. Without people like you I wouldn't even be able to track down, or even KNOW about the people stealing them. So really, you have my deepest thanks and gratitude.
NOW to get things straight. I'm tired of going through these art theft pictures and reading comments about how, "He gave me permission to make it a base" or "He doesn't care". WRONG, I do care and will report you without hesitation if I see it.

Gentle-mares and men!
Before I begin, I want to say this does NOT mean I'll be starting commissions just yet, this is mainly a headcount just to see how many people would be interested in paying me points/money to make pony vectors for them.
So, I'm in quite a creative slump at the moment. Some life problems and a general lack of motivation has me lacking ideas for Fallout: Equestria works for the time being, or any vectors for that matter, so I've decided its probably the best time to start commissions (or just requests if interest in paying me is low).
I shall detail as best I can what I have in mind for the process if and when I start them up (I'll create another journal if that is indeed the case to officially get people on a commission/request list).
First off, payment rates with examples. I plan to be
