Chaotica Fractal Art Competition and version 1.1More Like This
Hi guys, sorry it's been so long since the last update! There's been a lot of silent Chaotica progress on many fronts, from important fixes for Mac OS to a powerful new rendering mode and layers support...
But before I get into that, the other big news is the first Chaotica fractal art competition
This is a great opportunity to show off some really hot fractal renders and win a Chaotica licence and an iPod Nano! The free version of Chaotica may of course be used, and if you'd like help rendering a final version at higher resolution please don't hesitate to ask
The competition runs until the 25th of October, and entries must be posted in the competition forum thread.
I hope you'll all have a great time making sexy pixels for this competition!

Platinus' Xaos Tutorial Transcript
Now, in order for you to begin to understand the idea behind Xaos, you need to learn a little bit about how Apophysis uses transforms to make fractals, so, I'm going to explain this really quickly
Also, it would behoove you to get the following plugins: bipolar, splits, and lazy susan. let me know if you have any trouble finding them, I'll be more than happy to put a link some where
http://n8iveattitude1.deviantart.com/art/stuffs-167945333 This is a great big collection of TONS of plugins, should have what you need
All you need to do to install plugins is to create a folder called Plugins in the same directory as your Apophysis executable
Apophysis uses a set of triangles, called Transforms, to create the pretty stuff we know as fractals. Each transform plots points on a grid based on the specific formula that we adhere to the triangle. These points are not only plotted through the specific triangle that the formula is on, but through the other

Do it your self guide for ApophysisLately I have been getting a lot of questions on how I make my images. So I have decided to put together a little article to help people get started with apophysis. I am linking tutorials that I know can help produce quality results I am not intending to take credit for any of these tutorials I am just sharing the resources.More Like This
1.What is apophysis? Its a free program used to create digital images based on mathematical equations. Don't worry the program does most of the work. A more basic way of looking at it would be you start with a single point and then add to it in different directions until you have an image.
Here Are a couple examples of what you could create using this program as you can see you add a lot of points to come up with a finished product. You can also see that the possibilities are virtually endless.
2.Where do I get Apophysis? The final version of Apophysis can be found here.

Site Update: December 1, 2011About a month ago we announced Sta.sh and Sta.sh Writer -- not as a hot topic, but we soft-launched to the hq membership and to the more savvy deviants who follow along when we release things.More Like This
Development of both products has never stopped and will continue in an ongoing manner moving forward.
Below, I've outlined a change log that tracks recent Sta.sh progress and also identified Known Issues that we're aware of and actively working on.
You now have the option to include/exclude your journal from the Journal Portal, and from your Journal Tab's new "Featured" section.
The Journal Portal in the footer of deviantART now pulls from the Journals category but excludes all "Personal" posts. This means, you must categorize your Journal on submission for it to even qualify to appear in the footer of dA. This has substantially increased the quality of posts that appear there.
