Love (A Definition)Love is :More Like This
whispered words in the dark
and the brush of lips against hair.
It is the hold of a mother
and the soothing kiss on a grazed knee.
It is long and lazy morning cuddles
and hands held under the table.
It is the shy but adoring gazes
and the glow of a soul shining out.
It is small in large ways
and the most powerful force in the universe.
Love is not:
grunting heavy thrusts
or longing as strong as lust.
It is not heaving breaths,
or the glow of screens in the night.
It is not slutty music
or swinging girls on poles.
It is not money shoved into garters
or pickups off street corners.

you do not have a terrible heart. you do not
have sad eyes and love is not a war you need
to win. sometimes i feel like disappearing, but
we are never really alone.

the borders of pages. see the things that
everyone else misses. listen to your thoughts
and then lose yourself.
laugh until it makes you cry. see things you've
never seen in people before. stop worrying about
your hair and call him just to say i miss you.
do something different and you will be surprised.
let yourself enjoy the sunrise. try and say toy-
boats ten times in a row without tangling it up.
have silly conversations about cows eating grass
off your bed in your room.

when i met you, i stopped trying to be a nice person and just was. when i met you, i discovered post it notes and then i couldn't use them. i realised my house was not just a picture of a house and that your silence is so loud and my loud is so quiet. when i met you, i stopped writing and i cut star shapes into my blanket because i couldn't reach the sky, even with a ladder.
when i met you, i traced the map of your bones and filled my hands with yours because i stopped writing. i also stopped walking backwards because i noticed that i coul
