Leaning against a nearby tree you saw the wall ahead of you. You grunted and held your side. Seven years... Seven goddamned years, since you had fallen from your horse while retreating a Titan with your squad, you had rolled along the ground and fallen down a steep hill in the forest. Lying unconscious in the undergrowth. You had woken up, injured but alive. The deep gash you had gotten on your thigh that day had long healed, leaving an ugly silvery scar. You had traveled for a long time, never on a straight route for the wall, you couldn't that's where the titans where. You had had so many scraps with death, nearly noticed by titans.
Finally you were nearly home there was just one problem. The only way to get to the wall was to go out into the open. You hadn't been in the open in seven years, you had found safely in the thick cover of the forest, you didn't want to leave its safety. Even though the war was over... Even though 95% of the Titan population had been wiped out (this was the only reason you could approach the wall, there was no risk of a Titan attack anymore). You were scared.
You gritted you teeth and finally stepped out of the cover of the forest.
It was a clear mile to the wall and you limped forward as steadily as you injury would allow you... It wasn't your old injury... Last week you had fallen from a tree and your legs was still hard to walk on. You moved for an hour until you were maybe half an hour from the wall when someone patrolling noticed you from the top of the wall. You could hear them screaming and shouting but you couldn't make out their words. After fifteen minutes someone finally attached their 3dmg to the wall and used it to propel down the wall. They disconnected from it and headed for you. They could move much faster and got to you in under a minute.
"Are you ok?" She asked; a hand on your shoulder. You froze, dark hair, dark eyes and that red scarf... The sight stabbed at you like a knife in your side.
"Mikasa?" You stuttered.
"Yes..." She looked confused.
You weren't surprised she didn't recognize you, your (h/c) hair had grown long and straggly over the years, your old uniform was torn and blood stained and your skin was tanned and worn from the elements. You looked her in the eye, one of the only things that hadn't changed the (e/c) orbs still full of the life you had had seven years ago. "It's been a long time Mikasa." You said, eyes brimming with emotion.
"(y...y..y/n)?" She asked.
You smiled with chapped lips, "Hi," you smiled softly, feeling suddenly safe your tiredness building... You hadn't had a full night’s sleep in seven years.
"But you've been dead for years!" Mikasa cried, tightening her grip on your shoulder. You winced "Sorry, come on let's get you inside."
She pulled your arm over her shoulder and supported you as you stumbled back towards her gear. She hooked it back on and pulled them up. The moment she had landed two cadets were at their side. A third stood by Mikasa's side as the two cadets held you up. You recognized him too, he was older of course... More muscular and now ruggedly handsome... Eren. "Long time no see Eren." You smiled weakly, you leaned heavily against the cadets, feeling drained... You were finally home safe.
"It's (y/n)." Mikasa told him quickly as his turquoise eye widened dramatically. "Please take squad leader (l/n) to the infirmary." She told the cadets. They looked at the weak woman they held up... Legends of your strength and bravery and of course your death was known by everyone.
You let the cadets lead you away, supporting nearly all of her weight. As you disappeared from sight Eren turned to Mikasa with his eyes still wide with shock. "Who's going to tell Armin?"
"I think we should leave that to (f/n)." Mikasa smirked, Eren wrapped his arms around her waist, standing behind her with his chin resting in between her neck and her shoulder.
"You... Are you really scheming with a couple of which one of was thought dead for seven years?" He asked, shock evident in his voice.
"Yep," she nodded.
He shrugged "I guess it will mean Armin is out of our way..." He whispered in her ear softly. She shivered and turned to him.
She kissed him lightly on the cheek... "Come on, let’s go find out what happened to her."
She grabbed his hand and they walked together towards the infirmary.
