Chapter 9-You Have To Care
When Sakura stepped out of the steaming bathroom with a thick, fluffy white towel wrapped tightly around her body and another one wrapped around her damp hair like a turban, she was pleased to see that Kakashi had neatly made their previously rumpled bed and carefully put away their clothes that had been haphazardly thrown onto the floor the night before. There wasn't a scrap of evidence left to testify to their recent activities except maybe for the telltale marks on both their necks, but that could be easily rectified with Sakura's healing chakra. As such, Sakura walked over to the dresser mirror opposite their bed and began to heal each and every one of Kakashi's many love bites.
Kakashi watched with a sigh of disappointment. And I had worked so hard on those, too! Oh, well. It gives me an excuse to neck her again, Kakashi thought smiling to himself.
"What are you smirking at?" Sakura raised an eyebrow at hi

Its What You Do To Me
I'm a thousand miles away
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there if you get lonely
Close your eyes
I'm by your side
Our friends would all make fun of us
And we'll just laugh along because we know
That none of them have felt this way
It had been a month now since he was stationed to Lightning Country. The country had fallen into civil war and the elite ninja of Fire Country were called upon to help defeat the band of rebels from within. And so now Hatake Kakashi sat looking out into the distance watching as dark, ominous thunder clouds rolled slowly into the evening sky threatening to drown the battlefield with pouring rain and streaks of flashing lightning yet once again. Lightning Country indeed.
In the shelter of his flimsy tent

One Christmas Night
No one should be alone on Christmas or on any other special occasion for that matter. It defeats the whole purpose of the event, the one of sharing and being around the ones who mean the most to you. When you're alone during the holidays, it only makes the loneliness stronger and the depression greater. No one should ever be alone on Christmas.
Kakashi walked with his hands stuffed in his pockets like he usually did, but this time it wasn't because he was simply being aloof, it was because he was cold. Coming back from a simple (for him) A-rank mission, he was now trudging back through the gates of Konoha on this dark and cold Christmas Eve.
As tired as he was, it wasn't enough to push away the pang of despair that clutched at his chest. Another Christmas. Alone.
On previous Christmases, he had either spent it with his fellow Jounins at the local bar or more depressingly, standing in front of the memorial spending it

This was her chance. Who else would know better than him? He was his best friend after all. There were even implications that they may have even grown up together. But even as Haruno Sakura stole a glance at her companion walking amicably by her side, she hesitated. And so the pair continued on in silence until her companion came to a sudden halt, forcing Sakura to stop in her tracks as well.
Is there something you want to ask me, Sakura?
I dont know what youre talking about. Sakura laughed nervously, looking anywhere but at him.
Then why do you keep looking at me like that from the corner of your eye? Something is obviously on your mind, so you might as well come out with it.
Sakura looked him directly in the eyes. Those sweet kind eyes that conveyed nothing but friendship and understanding. They told her that if she had a question to ask or a secret to tell, that he would d

"Kakashi, what are you looking at?" Asuma asked.
"Huh? Oh, nothing." Kakashi answered guiltly and quickly turned his head back around.
"Nothing my ass. You've been staring in that direction for the past 5 minutes with that lovesick look in your eye. Could it be? Our designated bachelor has found a love interest?" Asuma teased, slapping Kakashi playfully on the back. "So who's the lucky girl...or guy?" Asuma smirked.
Kakashi shot him the nastiest look he could muster beneath his mask and raised up his "Icha Icha" book. "First off, I'm straight as an arrow. And secondly, just drop it." Kakashi sneered.
"Whoa-ho! There's no way I'm dropping it now that you've taken that tone. This girl must be really something! Why don't we just take a look at who this mystery girl is shall we?" Asuma said as he shoved a resisting Kakashi out of the way and looked down the street Kakashi had been staring at. The street was empty except for a pin

As gently as she could, Sakura wound her hands around Kakashi's head and undid the knot of his hitai-ate. His soft silver hair immediately fell upon his face in feathery bangs. Sakura took these locks of hair and delicately pushed them aside while moving in closer to inspect the shades of black and blue that were beginning to erupt just below the surface of his pale colored skin. While Sakura held Kakashi's face steady in each of her hands, Kakashi held her hips steady in each of his, their warm even breaths melding together in this intimate pose. Sakura lifted her chakra infused hands inches above Kakashi's marred flesh and wove it back together and drained it of its bruises.
Without a word and with nothing but an air of professionalism, Sakura slowly lowered the zipper of Kakashi's vest which he obligingly shrugged off. Next came the shirt, but this part was more difficult. Kakashi brought th

Maybe its just my imagination No, Im positive hes been trying to get close to me every chance he gets. Weve just been brushing up against each other too much. Thats why I noticed the cologne. When did Kakashi-sensei start wearing cologne anyway? He never seemed to care to wear it before because we get all sweaty and dirty from flying through the trees during our missions. But its unmistakable, lately hes been putting a great deal of effort to be near me and to smell good. Goodness, does he smell good! The cologne suits him, crisp and clean
Focus, Sakura. What are you thinking! Hes your sensei, your teacher. Alright, he might not be my teacher anymore and were equals now, but hes still way too old for me. Well, hes not that old. Hes not even old enough to be my father.

I heard the crash and tinkling of shattering glass, and my eyes widened in horror. At the same time, my hands shot up to cover my open mouth. What had I done?!
My hands still covering my mouth, I carefully stepped forward and dared to peek around the tree to confirm my suspicions.
I hadn't just imagined it. This wasn't a nightmare I could just wake up from with my heart racing and quickly push aside.
There was the gaping hole and ragged edges of broken window pane. There was Mrs. Kyoyou framed by the aforementioned hole, her face looking as shocked as mine felt. But unlike mine, her face quickly turned a bright shade of red, her eyebrows furrowed, and her mouth set in a grim line from sheer anger.
I watched as her furious face disappeared from the now shattered kitchen window, only to reappear again through the opening of her front door. I braced myself for what I knew was coming. What I wanted to do was to just runaway

Kakashi brought his fingers to the top edges of his mask and knowing what he was about to do, I lowered my hands from the sides of his face and placed them patiently on my lap instead.
With his back turned away from everybody else so that nobody but I could see, he began to lower the thin barrier of fabric down from his face, slowly revealing himself to me.
First, came the straight bridge of his nose and the tops of his cheeks where I could see more of the scar that bisected his left eye. Then, the tip of his pointed nose, his hairless upper lip, followed by his thin, smooth lips. Last was his chin and jaw, angular and masculine and cleanly shaved.
I paused for a moment, letting it all sink in.
This was my first time really seeing his face: Not a hazy blur as he suddenly pushed me up against a wall and ravished me senseless on New Year's Day, or in darkness as we slow danced atop Hokage Monument beneath a starry n

"Thank you." I said, taking the newly filled water canteen from Kakashi's gloved hand. Since the decision to linger at the River and Wind Country border was made, a small team had been sent to go a few miles back into River Country to refill our water supply. That way, water rations wouldn't be quickly depleted while we all waited for the sun to set.
"How are you feeling?" Kakashi asked, lowering himself down to sit beside me in the shade of a scraggly, dried out tree.
"I'm fine, Kakashi. Don't worry about me."
Still, Kakashi gave me an anxious look with his one exposed eye.
I let out a sigh and took a sip of the still slightly cool water from my water canteen to appease him. When I lowered the canister down from my lips, I saw that the tense look in his eye had

Kakashi still had me pressed against his side and his masked lips buried in my hair when I caught Madam Shijimi walking towards us, a far off look in her eyes and a small smile on her lips.
"I've never seen her so happy," she said to herself in a disbelieving daze.
"Yes, and it's all because of you. What you did was truly amazing." I praised her. "Thank you for being so understanding and giving Hiraku-hime and Shinri-san a chance."
Madam Shijimi's eyes focused onto mine, as if suddenly seeing me for the first time. She had been so lost in her own thoughts that she slightly jolted when I addressed her. Then, her eyes widened, looking between Kakashi and me in realization.
"You knew about them all along, didn't you? Both of you did. That's why you gave me that little talk, wasn't it?" she asked, her eyes focusing solely on me now.
"Yes, we did and we're sorry for not telling you, but it wasn't our place. And I had promised Hiraku-hime

"That's impossible..." Sakura said, tilting her head to the side, looking at it almost upside down.
"They did it."
"Kakashi, I can't even tell what is what and what belongs to who!"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, for one, whose is this? What is this?!" Sakura said hysterically while jabbing a finger at...something.
Kakashi tilted his head to the side so that he was looking at it almost upside down just like Sakura.
"Well, if you squint at it really hard, I'm pretty sure it's a leg. And if you start here-" Kakashi said, jabbing his own finger onto the page, "And follow it up all the way to...here...it's quite obvious that it belongs to the girl."

"Yes, Kakashi, it is! I don't think it's going to fit!" Sakura said unable to hide the apprehension in her voice.
"It'll fit, Sakura. And it's not an 'it' by the way. It's a he and he has a name."
"You named it?!"
"Him, Sakura. Him!"
"Stop laughing, Sakura! It's not funny!"
"I'm sorry! But I've never heard of anybody naming their-" Sakura nodded towards it, "...before."
"Well, I did and that's the last time I share anything with you again!" Kakashi grumbled.

"Him with the utmost respect, okay?"
"Okay." Kakashi said half-heartedly.
"Okay then. So what exactly did you name him?" Sakura asked, trying really hard not to laugh.
Kakashi eyed her suspiciously.
