The Capture vs. The Pose

When a subject poses to have his or her photograph taken, the subject tries to project a message about himself or
herself by how he or she “poses”, by the attitude of his or her body language or facial expression.
If the subject is posed by the photographer, the body pulled and prodded into the desired angles,
the facial expression “directed”, it is the photographer who is intending to communicate a message.
In either case, posing or posed, there is undeniably something “false” in the representation.

Today is not just my birthday; it is also the day of the Norse thunder god Thor, after who I was named. It is a day we call "Thursday". Perhaps you never realized it.
In fact, all the 7 days of the week are named after gods and "planets".
The word planet comes from the ancient Greek word planētēs, which means wanderer or wandering. A planet was defined as a celestial object that was moving against the background stars, meaning it was a close object, wandering across the sky. In ancient times, you could see 7 of such objects with the bare eye, and thus we had 7 planets. Those are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, the sun and the moon.
Vettius Valens, a Greek astrologer, was the first person we know of who associated the days of the week with gods. He wrote it down in the year 170 and used the following order: Sun, Moon, Ares, Hermes, Zeus, Aphrodite, and Cronos.
