Ladies of Kirk: #5, Edith Keeler
Known as the “Slum Angel,” Edith Keeler runs a kitchen where she provides soup and encouragement for the downtrodden in 1930’s New York. When Kirk, Spock and McCoy find themselves trapped in the past, Edith gives them work and a place to stay, turning a blind eye to their eccentricities. Kirk is drawn to Edith’s sweet nature and prescient belief in a utopian future. But when Spock discovers that Edith’s future as a leader for world peace has unintended consequences, Kirk has to make a heartwrenching decision.

I interrupt my hiatus yet again to remind you all that today is a special anniversary! Happy 49th Star Trek! You have truly lived Long and Prospered!
(And you may notice I threw in a little shout out to Stephen Colbert, who’s Late Night Show premieres tonight on CBS)
See you on the 30th!
