Leo-Sabre (British Knight):

Leo-Sabre (Leo-Saber) means The Lion Sword...

Back Story:

As a young child Nathan Hawthorne was born to privilege and power as the heir to the great Hawthorne fortune. His mother had died at his birth, or so he was told, and his Father was seldom around. Nathan was sent to the most prestigious schools and was given a substantial spending fund, which made him somewhat of a Playboy and socialite.

one fateful night, Nathan was called to Scotland Yard in London, to identify the body of his Father, Sir Collin Hawthorne, found dead on the side of the highway in Wales. Nathan was devastated and tried to find and track his father's killer, but to no success. making his way to his family's castle in the northern highlands of Scotland, Nathan was told of his family's assets.

Riley Quinn, his father's trusted Butler and confident led Nathan to a secret chamber below the castle, where to Nathan's astonishment he found a vast and technologically advanced lair... in the far corner was a machine that looked as if it were a sarcophagus from Egypt, Quinn explained that Nathan was the direct decedent of a long line of heroes known as the Sabres.

Their reign of Justice began in the days of King Arthur and Camelot, being directly related to Sir Lancelot himself. In the days of Camelot, Lancelot was given a gift, a small Jewel was removed from the crest of Excalibur and a shard was forged from it's blade which was converted into a Helmet crest, the bearer of these treasures would become a living weapon of justice and freedom.

Lancelot's son, Athos, made a Pact with the Lady of the lake, that he, and his decedents, would forever protect the Crown of England form both foreign and domestic threats, if only to have the power to do so. Athos actually was the oldest of the Sabres and even served as a Musketeer in France and was once known as the Crimson Sabre.

The Mystical ring gives it's bearer fantastic powers of strength, agility, and speed, whilst the helmet and the shard of Excalibur gives the wearer the combined total knowledge of every Sabre who has come before. thus making the person the most skilled and powerful swordsman in the world. each Sabre must keep their identity secret, lest the mystical items fall into the wrong hands, and each Sabre must choose a surname to add to "Sabre" to distinguish themselves from their predecessor.

The Special sarcophagus from Egypt was taken by the Crusades and when placed in the sun would give the Egyptians the ability to heal the pharaoh from any aliments, but now with modern technology, the amounts of energy brought to the machine could even revive the dead if so needed, but the body must be brought to the chamber as soon as possible, unfortunately Quinn was unable to rescue Nathan's father in time and feels guilt for this unfortunate tragedy..

The chamber used once a day can also prolong the lifespan of a human, and as Quinn explained, he was 350 years old and didn't look a day over 40, and Nathan's father was actually 450 years old. Astonished at this news Nathan decided to leave the Castle never to return or follow in the Order of the Sabre's. after his leaving the castle, Nathan was abruptly captured by the evil Black Momba's men and was lead to an abandoned monastery on the coast of Scotland, he was to be tortured and killed for the secrets of the Sabre's Order, whom the Black Momba Believed Colin Hawthorne had an inside knowledge of.

following Nathan to the hideout, Quinn attempted a rescue, and gave Colin the old uniform that his father had once worn as the Knight Sabre, placing the ring on his hand and helmet on his head, Nathan was given all the combined Knowledge of the centuries of Sabre's who had come before him, and the ring gifted Him with superhuman abilities, using this he rescued Quinn and defeated all his opponents in short work, yet the Black Momba escaped. Leaving the criminals for the Police, and escaping back to Hawthorne castle, Nathan Vowed to defeat the evil Black Momba and his organization.

He also vowed to bring his father's murderer to Justice and with that he commissioned a New suit in honor of his family's legacy and dubbing the name of the Leo-Sabre, Nathan uses his vast knowledge and skills to defend England and abroad from the evils of the world.

Leo-Sabre has also joined the Guardian Legion and fights alongside Star Superion and the Beetle Blazer..His Claymore sword is called The Artimus.. it is believed that the Artimus is a blade forged with a shard of Excalibur and is cast in it's image..It is indestructible.. this fact would explain how it is able to pierce the super dense skin of Star Superion...the only weapon on earth able to do so..

Powers: Snow Strike's Body is made of a living Frozen bacteria, it always stays freezing in temperature. His Body can create various frozen armor, and melee weaponry. If however, he is separated from his ice weaponry, it will begin to dissolve as the frozen bacteria dies (this has an effect that almost resembles melting..) Snow strike can also create ice sculptures which will reverberate sounds and images to Snow Strike's Mind.. making him an excellent spy. He is accomplished in ninjistu and weapons combat.

favorite Iced weaponry: Ice katana, Ice Axe, Ice Cicles (for Throwing) and Spiked Ice Balls (for Throwing)
_______________________________________________

Takara Matsunaga was a prominent and up incoming member of the Japanese Yakuza Mafia. Takara was an excellent Marksman, and a ruthless assassin. Takara was promised to marry the daughter of the head of the Yakuza Mafia's Northern Tokyo Branch, Mikio saotome. Mikio's father, Sashki Saotome was a very powerful boss and feared by most of the Yakuza.

Kendo Nagasaki was Takara's Best friend, and secretly coveted Takara's Position and status within the Yakuza Mafia. Yet most of all, Kendo was in love with Mikio, and hatched a plot to kill Takara. Convincing Takara that Sashki Saotome wanted him to lead a contingent of Yakuza to steal cryogenic technology from the Tokyo Division of Monument labs, Kendo led Takara into a trap.

Finding himself on a lab table in an abandoned Basement, Takara was in horror to find his friend Kendo had betrayed him, and had taken an experimental cryogenic bacteria machine and was going to flood Takara's body with it to kill him by freezing his body from the inside out..

Injecting Takara and leaving him for dead, Kendo made his escape, and immediately took his place with Mikio, lying to her and her father, that Kendo died in a scheme to take over the Yakuza himself.. and made Takara's demise a dishonorable disgrace..seeking Mikio's favor.

Takara's body was infected with a Mutanagenic Bacteria that converted his body into a living Ice man. his body is always cold, and slightly translucent.. every cell in his body was changed into a living ICE bacteria.. Takara escaped his death and found that he could manipulate his body through mere thought.. and could produce various weaponry and could even produce sculptured figurines that would act as spying tools.. to listen to conversations from 100 feet away!

Takara retreated to a secret Ninja training organization in Osaka japan..known as the Hand of Doom. There he learned to hone his skills as an assassin and joined their group, which was actually an arm of the Super Villain Organization, the Doom Brigade! Through his successful acts of violence and vengeance, he came to the attention of Doctor Deathshade, Master of the Doom Brigade. Deathshade offered Takara the ability to enact vengeance on Kendo and the Yakuza, in exchange for his complete and utter loyalty, and eventually find a way to reverse the effects of the Ice Bacteria that changed Takara into a Living Iceman..

Donning the Code Name of Snow Strike, Takara Matsunaga no longer lives, and now does the bidding of the Doom Brigade as their Most dangerous ninja assassin. Often time Snow Strike Teams up with the White Lotus, and is a natural enemy of the Beetle Blazer.

Number 8. tutorial in my "Nsio explains" series. Talking about foreshortening for continuation from perspective.

EDIT2: I thank all those who commented on my rude tone in this tutorial. I have definitely learnt my lesson by now, so I won't be replying back on any future comments regarding this. I have literally written essays as a response and you can find them if you browse trough the comments. Of course, if you find that it's all you have to say about this tutorial, then feel free to do so, but don't expect me to reply.
EDIT1: Few people have been reporting about my rude tone in this tutorial. I'm really sorry if you find it offending and condescending. My point is not to mock your ability to draw or insult you. For that sole reason, all my "bad" examples are always drawn by myself. However, my goal is still to make you feel a bit bad about yourself and wake new thoughts in you. The first step to understanding is to to see what you are doing wrong and accept it. I do this by slapping you straight at the face. While it may sound like I'm saying that you are bad, that's not the case. No one is bad at drawing: some have just had the chance to delve deeper into it. Some may grasp it faster than others, but since drawing isn't something we need for surviving, you don't get to do it very much. You didn't know how to walk or ride a bicycle when you were small, but you have had years to perfect them. Same goes with drawing.

Again, I humbly apologize if you found my tone discouraging and offending. I admit that I could have been more considerate.

Way too common mistakes:

Foreshortening is super hard, I admit with that. But it's hard mostly because of the lack of knowledge of how things really look like. That said, if you intend to foreshorten anything, you really need to know your subject rather well. Advanced stuff require advanced understanding. If you don't how the understanding, you will fail miserably, unfortunately.

Probably the most common mistake I encounter is the arm reaching the beholder. Most of the time, people draw the hand in upright position. Well, that's not necessarily an issue, but if you draw the hand in upright position, you need to draw the arm in a way that it's possible for the character to keep her hand in that position. However, people almost always do these two fatal mistakes:
1.The hand is far away from the face
2. The arm is not coming towards the beholder

People usually can draw the hand larger than normally, to indicate it's closer to the beholder. However, the two mistakes I mentioned before destroy the illusion instantly. Let's talk first about the position of the hand. We all know that our arms can reach quite wide area. However, the hand orientation is directly related to the arm position. That said, if the beholder is in front of you and your point your right arm to the right, you just CAN'T turn your palm towards the beholder while keeping the upright position. It's not physically possible. If you point your arm towards the beholder, then your palm can be seen. And when you turn your arm in a position where beholder can see your palm, the hand is relatively close to the face. From the beholder's point of view, that is. Now we can take a look at my illustration where I attempted to draw things as wrong as they can possibly get. See, the hand position is impossible there. So if you really want to draw the hand in upright position towards the beholder and the arm is straight, know that it needs to be close to the face (the face is just a reference point here, easy to remember).

Now on to the second issue I mentioned. Most of the time people don't even draw the arm coming towards the beholder. This makes it look like the poor girl got her hand dismembered. Take a look at the shirt: the opening of the sleeve is obviously pointing downwards.

I drew some other mistakes here as well, but basically they all are one big mistake. I didn't pay any attention to the beholder, viewing angle, not even to the drawing. I just drew individual elements one by one. If you you know that you are drawing like in my bad example, I'll need to ask you: are you really even trying.

I know I know, foreshortening is hard as I already said. But seriously, are you really even trying to understand it and what you are doing? Are you putting any serious effort in drawing at all? And are you reading this tutorial in hopes of getting easy way of drawing foreshortening?

Unfortunately, I have no magic tricks to offer. There are no shortcuts to experience and understanding. While this tutorial may help you to give some insight about the matter, you won't learn foreshortening unless you really give it all you got. And in order to draw foreshortening, you will need to learn seeing things the way they are, not the way you think they are. You must acknowledge that it's you that need to see the effort, do the studies, do the practice, learn from references and stuff.

Now, I wouldn't say that I'm perfect with foreshortening. I had plenty of problems to compile this tutorial, but at least I can say that I gave it all I got. And in fact, I think I learned a bit more about drawing foreshortening. This was valuable practice for me.

What is it really?
Foreshortening is a term for procedure, where the subject is drawn in perspective and coming towards the beholder. The subject is literally "shortened" to gain the illusion of depth. Usually perspective guides don't work very well with foreshortening, so it's mostly about trusting one's perception and doing decent guesses. And that's often enough, because it doesn't have to be perfect in order to look right. To draw anything foreshortened, you will need to have rather good understanding about shapes and proportions in three dimensional space.

I usually draw section planes and draw "middle lines" on top of the shape surface to analyse it's orientation and form. For example, if you draw a cylinder in any angle, you will need to be able to tell it's height in any given time. Even when the object is foreshortened, you need to know that the height of the objects remains the same.

How much smaller it should be?
As we already know, things look smaller the farther the are. The same principle apply with the foreshortening. However, you will need to know how far the object actually can reach and deduce how much smaller it really gets. If the object is very close or it's really large, it may look distorted. This distortion happens because of our vision (fish-eye). The more complex the subject of drawing is, the harder it gets to draw it foreshortened. Basically it means that you will need to study references and live models to gain understanding and knowledge about how things really look and then base your guesses on that.

Applying the cylinder example
The cylinder example seen on the tutorial can be applied on anything. The arm is probably the most straightforward subject to apply the example. All you need to do is to imagine that the arm is made of a pair of cylinders connected with spheres as joints. Then you will just need to draw the cylinders in a manner that they look like they were foreshortened. This sounds much easier than it really is, but using cylinders makes it a tad easier. Of course, if you don't know how to draw cylinders in the first place, then you can probably consider a bit easier matters to practice for the time being.

I drew some more complicated shapes than simple cylinders. To do this I had to draw few projections first in order to have the necessary references to draw the foreshortening. That said, I really recommend drawing projections of things that you are attempting to draw in perspective so that you know how they really look and you have references to look at while you draw the perspective. I must say, I hardly ever draw such demanding foreshortened drawings, so these really got me to the edge. I'm rather satisfied with the results though and this was super useful practice for me, as I mentioned before.

Some practice to try
I usually draw this kind of practice when I feel bored or I have gotten rusty. Anyway, the point is that you draw few circles, gradually changing their size from large to small (large ones are close, smaller ones farther). Then you will connect these circles with two lines in the same order you drew the circles. Now you will need to erase the circles partially to give it three dimensional look and make it look like a cable or a worm. If you have a lot of patience, you can draw quite complex thread of these cables.

"Look up, the stars are fading
And I am still here waiting
To see you again
Be with you my friend

When the moon is gone forever
I hope you're up there somewhere
I'll see you again
Be with you my friend

'Cause all the roads they lead to where you are
And all the streetlights shine like they were stars
That's where you are

Let's spend tonight on top of the world
And we can do anything,
We can be anything
I'll meet you tonight on top of the world
As real as it seems,
You're only in my dreams

Look out across the water
Faces of lonely daughters and mothers who care
But just can't be there
Swear that I will see you someday
I have to find a way
To show you I care
Even if you're not there

So I'm following the road to where you are
(Meet you tonight on top of)
The streetlights they will guide me to the stars
That's where you are

Let's spend tonight on top of the world
And we can do anything,
We can be anything
I'll meet you tonight on top of the world
As real as it seems,
You're only in my dreams

My heart is empty without you
Sometimes you don't know what you do
And I need you tonight
I'll fall asleep and it's alright
Close my eyes and I'll be by your side

I'm always impressed with those pictures of abandoned cars people post (ones standing in woods, near lakes, etc.)

Since I live in Switzerland, it's pretty much impossible to find an abandoned car... (we're a very, very tidy people ;-))

I found this one in front of a museum (yes, it's not exactly abandoned, it's a piece of art ...)

WELCOME

Hi there and welcome to the first installment of Home of the ARTist, the e-mag of Daily-Deviations .

First of all, I, as the Founder of Daily-Deviations want to apologize for several things.

I am sorry that this is published so extremely late. And I am also sorry that this is not as beautiful as it was supposed to be.

I hope you´ll be able to forgive us if you keep in mind that this was the baby of our former founder Jonathan. He left us, though, because he had to face some serious problems in real life and we can understand that he couldn´t finish this project anymore, and even though I am feeling sorry that I was not able to make it as good as he wanted it to be at the beginning I still hope you´ll have fun with our e-mag.
Greetings, CaryM

Anyway, here´s the e-mag now filled full of features from some talented artists that we know you'll enjoy.

Some of you may be wondering how we came up with the idea to create an E-mag. Well there are several reasons, but we'll give you a few. We wanted our fantastic group to expand. This allows us to put out more content and celebrate even more fantastic artists who may not have a lot of exposure. In addition, we can now feature individual artists. Finally, we did it for you! We wanted to entertain our members with more features, great art, stories, comics and more.

Before we get started, we want to remind you that if you want to be part of our E-mag, you can find instructions on how to contribute. [ daily-deviations.deviantart.co… ] AND you can feature your work on the homepage of Daily-Deviations for just 10 points per day. [ daily-deviations.deviantart.co… ]

We hope you enjoy what we have to offer and continue your viewing and support.

FEATURES

Now the meat and potatoes (or for our veggie friendly supporters, the carrots and tofu?) of our first installment of Home of the ARTist, we welcome you to read about some of the featured artist and writers this month.

JKingstone

Our first feature goes to Jessica Kingstone. Some of you may know her as JKingstone around DeviantArt and some of you may not know here at all. Regardless where you fall on your acquaintance with Ms. Kingstone you're in for a treat.

Background

"I'm a traditional pen and ink illustrator, with my main area of illustration being in fantasy art or fairytale art. I love taking everyday scenes and hiding fairies, ogres, imps and other folklore in between the people going about their everyday lives, as well as inventing entire new worlds and creatures. However, I also enjoy doing portraiture and a lot of graphite work. I am a writer also, and all of my stories are illustrated by myself as and when they develop." – Jessica Kingstone

Interview with JKinstone

Home of the ARTist: Why did you join DeviantArt?

Jessica Kingstone:  I joined deviantART mainly because I wanted to share my artwork with others and be inspired by other artists. I originally started on Fanart-Central, but I wanted to have a broader view of art, not just fanart, so I came here instead. 

HotA:  How long have you been an artist and what inspired you?

J K: I've been a dedicated artist since 2005, though I guess you could say that I've been an artist all my life. My biggest inspirations throughout my life have been my mum, *SapphireIllusions and my best friend ~NightJinx but I also get inspired heavily by music, nature and other artists like Brian Froud, Alan Lee, Imperial Boy and Kris Kuksi.

HotA: Your work is unusual and original where do you get the ideas from?

J K: Most of my ideas form from zoning out while listening to music. Whether it's just one line in a song or an entire symphony that I'm listening to, it usually comes from there.

However, if I'm doing commissions for people, sometimes this works, other times the ideas just pop out as I'm doodling the sketches. I try as far as I can to really put myself into the world I'm trying to draw and I look at it from all angles so I can get a 360 view of what's going on. Sometimes that in itself creates an entire world just from one scene!

HotA: You use an incredible amount of detail, how long do your pieces take and are you happy with them once you have finished?

J K: My pieces can take anything from 2 weeks to 6 months to do depending on what size it is and what it entails. Things like the Lackadaisy Masquerade piece ( jkingstone.deviantart.com/art/… ) took nearly a month to do, whereas the Breakfast is Served Commission ( jkingstone.deviantart.com/art/… ) took nearly three months, so it really does depend on the detail levels.

With regards to whether I'm happy with them, it's become a usual thing for me to have to do things twice. I'll be working on something, realize it's really not going right at all and then I'll bin it. When I start working on the second one though, I'll still not be satisfied with how it's going, but I generally learn from the first one what mistakes not to make it again! I'm never happy with my work once it's finished because I look at it and think, "man I could have done that bit so much better." By which time it's a bit late,   but that's what helps me learn and develop because I never rest on my laurels, I'll always strive to make the next piece better than the last.

HotA: What is your next piece going to be and do you think you can achieve a DD with it?

J K: Well my next piece is another commission for *windyautumnmoon which features a carrion crow and his nest. Only, this is no ordinary nest. Built in the rafters of his companion's house, an entire community has grown! Comprised of rather intelligent little mice, they are employed by Paw the Crow to keep all of his jewels, trinkets and anything else that he has pinched in tip top shape, and of course to stop them from being stolen from Paw.

It will be an A3 (29.7cm x 42cm) full colour piece, with (hopefully) more detail than ever before! There are multiple plains of perspective to play with in it, and many hidden things for everyone to try to find.

Whether or not I'd get a DD for it is another matter since I'm such a hard critic of my work, so it's up to all you guys on that front I guess

HotA: What advice do you have for other traditional artists?

J K:  Never work on your original lineart. I always used to live by this rule in the fact that I would always scan the original lineart, and then print it off on my high quality paper very faintly, and then work on top of that so that if I did mess it up or whatever, I didn't have to redraw the entire thing. When I started working on A2 scale (42cm x 59.7cm), I would work on board which meant I couldn't print onto that, I could only trace which, in itself, is a majorly laborious process that just took all the fun out of everything.

So, the biggest advice I'd have is never work on your original artwork

Alec4U

Alec Maynard, better known as Alec4U, has been on Deviant Art for a short while, but opinions about his talent should not be diminished by this fact. He has already been featured by one of the primer literature groups of DA, DailyLitDeviations (DLD). Without further adieu, we give the spotlight to Mr. Maynard as he tells us a bit about himself. To view and read more works by Mr. Maynard, do stop by his Deviant Art profile page and check out his gallery. [ alec4u.deviantart.com/ ]

Background

Hello, my name is Alec Maynard and you have entered the depraved depths of my imagination, the metaphoric Iron Earth where I dwell. Inside this war torn, festering, wasteland exist a hope. A slither of fluorescent creativity that mutates itself into short stories, scripts, poems and a myriad of ideas yet to be channeled into legible prose.

When I write fantasy or sci-fi, I like to inject drama, dark humour, and horror to create a realistic and harsh environment, which not only forces the characters to suffer their hyperbolic fantasy trials, but also deal with some of the same, interesting, crap we have to put up with in our lives. Surely contracting a disease, being dumped or repressing closeted homosexuality will not be a problem for a real hero when compared to that hydra he butchered last week?

Perhaps, on a whim, you care to indulge in the horrors and complexities of the human condition. The base fears, insecurities, and dilemmas of the human psyche that torment us all; from the most heinous criminals to the sweetest old ladies. If so, then my horrors or poetry are the material for you.

If any of these areas interest you, and you are not afraid to read stories and poetry that indulges in the challenging, the disturbed and the human condition then visit my DeviantArt page and enjoy. >=3

BATTLE OF HOLT

The forest spirit, Oxylos, padded gently through his domain. Emerald shrubs and flowers blossomed beneath each footstep. He ambled along the track until he reached a smooth flat rock that offered him a platform to survey the mountain below. Scattered amongst the wooded mountain face, beside the region's only river, was the fledgling town of Holt. Primitive humans lived there residing in huts on the trees. Oxylos puffed out his chest with pride. He had raised them from mere apes, and they now were able to feed themselves and live in independence under his protection.
He leapt from his podium and galloped down the slope. Hind legs stretching out behind him as he left the ground, front legs digging into the dirt as he returned. In seconds he was among them. They left their miniature homes and bowed before him. He glowed from their faith. Oxylos collapsed onto his belly, and rested amid the men and women of Holt. Children clambered over his gia

At the riverbank, Oxylos rolled onto his side then let the women climb down and clamber onto one of the rafts which floated to the centre of the vast river for safety. The villagers waved and cheered their protector. He smiled at their warmth but didn't realise until it was too late, that they weren't cheering him but attempting to warn him. A giant set of teeth clamped down on his neck cleaving his weakened skin. Pyros thrashed his head left and right letting his serrated teeth sink deeply into Oxylos's neck, severing the spirit's major artery. Warm blood flooded Pyros's mouth and drenched the sand below. Pyros stared coldly into Oxylos's eyes, he watched as they twitched in panic and then the black of death smothered them. The creature's eyes rolled up inside his head and his heart stopped. Pyros's insides fluttered with joy as he let go of the forest spirits neck and watched him collapse. The humans sat horrified as Pyros gorged on Oxylos's flesh to the backdrop of the forest consumed in flames.

THE BEANSTALK

Being a farmer's daughter would have meant a life of hard work but self sustenance would almost certainly be guaranteed. However, being a farmer's daughter whose father had abandoned her and her mother meant a life of poverty. Mother was hard working and strong willed but even her resolve couldn't bring us enough money to live a comfortable lifestyle. One day tax was due but we hadn't the money to pay, so mother brought me the last cow and told me to take it to market. I reluctantly agreed. The farm lay in a small field surrounded by a seemingly never ending montage of trees, so tightly packed that sunlight failed to break through the expanding shield of emerald greens and Vandyke browns. The path I trod pierced the hallows of the dark woods like a knife through butter. Small animals rustled in the bushes and birds chirped soulful serenades in the background. Over all the years I had made the journey from the farm cottage to the market, the mys

"I am" he paused, "Well I am more of an artist myself than an observer, most of the paintings in my palace are of my hand. In fact I have a painting in the works as we speak but it is lacking a model for the foreground. If you were to model for me you may take the bag of gold"

At first I felt hesitant but my family's needs were far too great. I nodded my head in acceptance and moved towards a chair opposite the bed that lay positioned behind an easel that held a canvas. He took his position in front of the easel and took out an assortment of paints and brushes as I sat down on the chair.

"No! No!" he shouted making me jump to my feet, "You have to stand behind the chair, then you need to strip down to your bare skin"

"But I, I can't…," I cried out helplessly.

"In art nude models are in keeping with nature, whoever heard of clothed figures" he chuckled, "Anyway where's the fun in painting a clothed model, especially one as…as precious as yourself.", He was staring straight at me, I couldn't hold his gaze. I just bit my lip and began to undo my red, laced dress. I felt the loss of its presence more than ever as it fell from my pert bosom. A dark smile appeared on his face and his gaze moved down from my eyes as my dress fell to the floor. I blushed and clung to myself trying desperately to preserve my dignity. I felt shamed, embarrassed and cold as he began to paint onto his canvas.

SapphireIllusions

SapphireIllusions has been a member of Deviant Art for 2 years and has been gracing members with her heraldic, traditional and cultural works of art. Give a warm welcome, as SapphireIllusions gives us a bit of background about her life and work.

Background

I've been interested in art and heraldry, in particular, since I was in my teens, and after drifting in and out of various attempts at careers, including motherhood (which was the one I actually managed to stick at for longer than 2 years!), I finally took the plunge and became a full time artist.

My main source of work comes from the RAF Heraldry Trust [ www.deviantart.com/users/outgo… ] for whom I am recording all of the heraldry assigned to units of the Royal Air Force, a project which began in 1996. The project is being funded by sponsorships, so if anyone would be interested, they can find all the details on the website.
Although I have always been a traditional artist working with paper, pencils and paint, I discovered the joys of Photoshop a couple of years ago and in terms of being able to render certain effects in fantasy art and the heraldry, it's been a very exciting development for me!

primalfuryan

Our last feature for this installment is primalfuryan. He's only been at Deviant Art for 9 months, but his work has also been praised by a number of respectable groups. One member described his work as, "the colors take up a life of their own, simply its emotionally infused." With a description like that, it's a wonder how he's come close to 40K pageviews in a relatively short time span.

Interview with primalfuryan

Home of the ARTist:  Why (or what) made you start your art?

Primalfuryan: Hmmm let me see ..well my Mother inspired me and she used to make flowers on the paper for my schoolwork she used to give me brushes and pencils to color those flowers and I loved to color those flowers and my Mother always appreciated me and she always had a serene smile on Her face so that made me entangled into art verse

HotA: Are you professional or is it just a side hobby?

Prima: Paint colors talk to me. It is not profession my art is my friend when I am angry or frustrated or want to express any emotion I make the art these colors tell me that they are with me in every part of my life.

HotA: What types of art do you prefer?

Prima: I prefer painting, drawing digital and traditional both I am also a amateur photographer and calligrapher also work with artisan crafts so I believe artist should not have boundaries should be wild open to every field of life the reason I love painting is I love to play with colors it is Excalibur feeling.

HotA: Who is your favorite artist?

Prima: There are many but a few are Pablo Picasso ,Salvador Dali ,Leonardo da Vinci ,Van Gogh ,Zeng Fanzhi ,Damien Hirst ,Gulge, etc.

HotA: What are all the tools you use for your art?

Prima: EVERYTHING! Either it's a leaf from the road or the palette knife or the brushes or the pencils markers as I also make artisan crafts so anything that is necessary to give the proper effect is my tool for the art.

HotA: How long does it take you to finish a piece?

Prima: Depends on the conditions sometime it takes a year sometime just 1 day it depends on my variable moods or the life scenario but until i complete the painting it is in my mind like (I have to complete it soon lol).

HotA: When did you start your art?

Prima: I started my artwork in the childhood I am just a normal artist just like Isaac Newton says that I am standing at a sand beach playing with knowledge stones there is a whole lot of ocean of knowledge in front of me so I am still learning.

HotA:  Were you self taught on your own or did you take class or go to some kind of school?

Prima: Yes self taught animal instincts have learnt everything on my own..

HotA: Was their ever a point that you were not satisfied with your art?

Prima: Many times I want to still add some more depth into the art I keep growing but I am mostly contented with myself that I created something good in the end.

HotA: What do you think is the secret to mastering art?

Prima: Secret is look closely to the thing or phenomenon in every shape and dimensions give it time and colors will start revealing themselves then again practice the strokes every artist have their strokes take it slow keep working on your art and keep learning.

HotA: What words of wisdom would you give to a beginner that inspires to you and your art style?
Prima: Don't be in a hurry work on your art complete it the way you want to create something extraordinary don't forget the basic structure of art is to enjoy it so enjoy working and playing with digital or traditional paints.

HotA: Please tell us a little bit about you?
Prima: About myself well I love to hear make change music. I am a DJ with RJ as well. I love many music forms, same goes with art. Anything made from heart is beautiful art; either it is painting or digital manipulation or a simple photograph of a flower. Anything from heart reaches hearts, so I always put my soul into the art so it creates smiles on people faces or just a thought or a minute emotion that is all.

Now you too, take care, stay safe and stay happy. Have a very, very pleasant day my dearest friend JJ. (HUGS)

There is a poem started for this, but having to touch on the concepts of Fire Water and Asia, it's hard work - and I'm not really a poet.

If there is desire, I'll finish it.  Otherwise, enjoy the graphic.

I did this in this version, a beautiful "red night" version and a darkly foreboding caustic yellow sky and sea version which had serious emotional impact - but settled on this one.

Go with me on a journey into the Hyper conscience to discover you true nature through The reality consortium.
This is an intellectual technique which I have already explained in the past.
It is done entirely within Bryce. Any version will work.
I did post-process the colors a bit in Paint Shop Pro.
This is a pseudo-random mapping technique.
It consists of a radial light (with a gel) and a large bumped sphere.

Enjoy!

Been deeply embroiled in paving over my parents garden.  Just about done now.  And my spare time can once again be given over to Bryce rather than lugging around buckets of concrete.

Since I saw a lot of gold things, I thought a video on gold would not be unwelcome.  And it gives me a chance to trial out a musical bed provided by my friend Loopcycle.
