Zaina and Kinsaeda : Up on the RooftopMore Like This
Setting: It was night; the stars shone brilliantly in the indigo sky. The full moon bathed the world in a silver glow. The breezy air was filled with the smell of flowers from the central gardens. The world was quiet, hardly anything stirred unless the soft, lazy wind brushed it. Almost all of the city was sleeping, almost. On the roof of a house, based in the more wealthy district, sat a very small lantern, covered by the cage that housed the flame, illuminating what little couldn’t be seen from the light already present.
Zaina: Zai stood on the roof of the house amid rioting flowers suffused in the light of the moon. She wore only a delicate nightgown, the top encrusted with gems. A robe lay over a chair close to her. She gazed up at the moon, large and full, rising over the city. Before her spread the city, plants growing on some. She couldn’t quite see the city walls, but if she turned her head, she could see the palace.
