This Lighthouse was built at the most southerly point in Scotland, at the very tip of the Mull of Galloway.
I made 2 sketches on location:
perched in a nook behind a massive foghorn halfway down the cliff, looking back to the lighthouse, with the wind blowing a gale and rain storms threatening on the horizon.
I then got back to the studio (my living room
) and made a compositional sketch:
to tweak the positions to fit better, then painted away. Was a pretty quick piece to paint (probably due to the preparatory sketches), done in 2 sessions about an hour each.
