Lightning turned left into the long, dusty driveway leading up to the Weathers estate. The house was smaller than he had expected for a celebrity of The King's stature, but somehow that seemed to suit the older gentleman. Little more than a bungalow, the façade of the house was white with slightly-darker-than-Dinoco-blue trim. Quaint and welcoming, the house seemed almost to smile at the young racecar approaching it. Lightning smiled back, his admiration for The King deepening.
The rays of the late afternoon sun were a brilliant gold as they stretched from beyond the Tennessee hills to illuminate the many different colors of gladiolus and jessamine adorning the front yard. The King himself was relaxing on the grassy lawn, settled low on his axles, his eyes closed. He looked a far sight better than he had the last time Lightning had seen him, which had been in the hosp
Back to Britain Ch1You know, some say that in a secret agent's line of work, friendships are dangerous; as Finn McMissile would say. But then there are some that say love is even more dangerous than friendships. Personally, Miss Holley Shiftwell thinks otherwise. She was the first love interest of a chap named Tow Mater from a diminutive town called Radiator Springs. Mater was a rusty brown tow truck with a big heart, pure innocence, and had an aura of adventure about him. Not to mention he was extremely honest. And Holley was a bright magenta car with a striking resemblance to a Jaguar XJR-15. Not to mention she was young, and good looking. Not that Mater was aged and not so good looking or anything. Even when Holley herself confirmed to the townspeople she was in fact Mater's girlfriend, a few residents still had trouble believing it; Guido and Luigi especially. Others however accepted it right off the bat, like Lizzie and Mack. (Maybe Red, for nobody could ever fathom what he ever thought about. He reMore Like This

"Sally? I don't see her anywhere, Doc." Lightning said to me.
"I'm not sure. Maybe you should ask- Na. Lizzie'd forget where she even is let alone where Sally is."
"Ugh! I wanna see her again!"
"You sound pretty desperate."
"Doc. I am!"
"Okay then. She's your girlfriend. Where do you think she would be."
"Doc, she's not my girlfriend! At least not yet."
"Well, you know her more than I do."
"The Wheel Well. I'll be right back." Lightning sped off towards the Wheel Well. Of course she'd be there. Like I said, it's her favorite spot in the whole world. I headed over to Mater and the helicopter.
"I wunna get on again! I wus havin' fun!" he said.
"Again!? This is the third time!"
"Hey, can I get on?" I asked.
"Why?" the helicopter asked me.
"Oh, just nothing."

If I were traveling on my own, I would have been here before the race even began. I could have had more than enough time to apologize to Lightning, but no. I had to travel with some slowpokes making us late. When I realized that the race was starting, I called Sally to give me the details. And one thing for sure was that Lightning's heart wasn't in the race.
When I got there, I had to tell Mack, who was being Lightning's make-shift pit crew for the time being, not to tell Lightning we were here. We had to surprise him.
We were only 50 laps into the race. That meant there was already 1/4 of the race gone. Lightning was in second place, but Chick sped up right in front of him. Lightning was completely off guard! He tried to catch up, but he wasn't paying attention. He had to be daydreaming. He almost hit the wall. He spun out of the way and landed in the inf

The next morning, I woke up to Sarge and Filmore arguing, like they always do. Sometimes I just wish that they would stop arguing! They've been doing this ever since the moved here. Wars don't even last this long.
I drove out of my house, hungry for breakfast. The second I got on the road, I noticed Lightning had finished paving the road. "He's done. He musta finished it while we was all asleep." Mater said.
"Good riddance." I headed back down so I could fill up at Flo's. Everyone else came down. And they were all sad. Red cried like he always does, and I think I even heard Sheriff let out a sniffle. Of course Sally was heartbroken. How did they get attached to the kid? He was nothing but trouble.
I headed back to my place, and I didn't notice Luigi flipping out. I did notice everyone crowded around Luigi's though.
Cars: My POV Chapter 6The next morning was one of Sheriff's regular checkups. I was just working on him when a red racecar came bursting through the doors. "Hey! Have you seen the Sheriff!? Oh, oh my gosh!" He wasn't expecting to see Sheriff's undercarriage. I tried not to laugh in front of the poor kid. No need to make it any worse for him. He didn't know. This was only his third day here. Besides, after last night, I tried to cut the kid some slack.More Like This
"Hey! What're you doin'?"
"Get a good peek, city boy?" Sheriff asked. You're making this harder not to laugh at the poor kid!
"I just need my daily gas ration from the Sheriff." He was trying to look at me when he was talking, but that meant looking at Sheriff, so he kept blinking the whole time.
"Wait for him at Flo's! Now get outta here!" I really didn't want him in here. He didn't nee

"Quit calling me!" I said when I hung up. Why is that everytime he calls, I have to answer!? I saw Sally turning the neon lights for the Cozy Cone. The second she got the neon fixed over there, she turned them on every night. She was always so hopeful that people would start coming back to the town. She was a lot like Marianne. I sometimes looked at Sally like a daughter, though I knew it wouldn't be the best relationship in the world. I heard two cars coming up the road. Even though she may have thought they were travelers looking for a place to stay, I knew it was just Lightning and Mater coming back from tractor tipping.
"Tommora night, we can go lookin' for da ghostlight!" Mater suggested.
"I can't wait, Mater." Lightning replied sarcastically.
"Oh yeah! I'm tellin' ya. Oh boy.

"Gentlemen, this will be a one lap race. You will drive to Willy's Butte, go around Willy's Butte, and come back." Sheriff was starting the speech he always said. Sheriff, I know the rules already, and this kid isn't even paying attention. He's too busy stretching out his tires. He wasn't just stretching out, he was giving himself a little preperation speech.
"Speed, I'm speed. Float like a Cadillac, sting like a Beemer." I watched this kid as he was doing this, and I was shocked by the last line he said. How does he know that? I thought nobody would even remember that. Especially Nathan's son.
"Guido here has always dreamed of giving a real racecar, a pit stop." Luigi said as the two pulled up to him.
"Peet stop!" Guido called out, speaking the only English he knew.
"Look, guys. The race is only one lap. Uno lap-o! I don't need any h

Outside of the courthouse, I decided to introduce the kid to his new partner for the next couple of days. "This here is Bessie. Finest road paving machine ever built. I'm hereby sentenceing you to community service. You're gonna fix the road under my supervision."
Seeing the kid's face was all worth it. Maybe I could use this to my benefit. Sweet, sweet revenge. And what better way to get revenge than to torment the possible son of that vile 50's racer. "What!? This place is crazy!"
"This may not be the best time, but uh, ya ow me $3,000 in legal fees." Mater said to the kid. I don't think he's actually paid Mater yet.
"We're gonna hook you up to sweet Bessie, and you're gonna pull her nice."
"Oh, you gotta be kidding me!" That kid was not happy.
"You'll start down here where the road begins and finish down there where the road ends."
"Holy shoot!" Mater c

Two days after the race, I went on the internet. I saw a poll on a website that read: Who do you think will win the Piston Cup? I cast my vote in for the King being that he wasn't a jackass like Chick and Lightning were. When I clicked submit, I saw the results. Of course, no one really voted for Chick. If he's lost each time in the ten years of his career, the chances of him actually winning are pretty slim. But one thing I noticed shocked me. The majority of the vote went to Lightning! What the hell!? Who would vote for someone who's got no crew!? I would one day love to see a rookie win the Piston Cup, but not him. He's got a lot of growing up to do. I wanted to actually see if my guess was true so I looked up this kid on Wikipedia. And I found out that he was indeed Nathan's son. Just wait. He'll t

Boy was I pissed off at that hotshot rookie on the TV! He had no idea how to race! If he had some common sense, maybe he would have been the first rookie to win the Piston Cup! But nope. He wasn't.
What was it that made me so angry? It all started that evening. I had no idea why I was even doing this. I decided to turn my TV on to RSN and watch the Piston Cup race. I swore I'd never get anywhere near the racing world, and I think this was pushing it. But it was the same every year. I didn't care that I hadn't even seen the earlier races in the season. I would always watch the Piston Cup to see who won. But this year seemed like the biggest Piston Cup I'd ever heard of.
Strip Weathers, whom they called the King, had been racing for some time now. He had seven Piston Cups under his belt. I know someone who could h
