He turned to the large eagle owl, who now sat upon the back of his desk chair, and took the letters from her large talons before rewarding her with a small treat. Nona squawked and downed it in one. He smiled at the sound, walking over to the small leather couch and taking a seat closest to the open window.
The first envelope he opened contained a Christmas card with an enchanted picture of his parents on the front. He opened it and read the small message inside, wishing him a merry Christmas from home. He smiled warmly at the picture of his parents. He missed them dearly, but would never admit it by spending Christmas with them.
He placed the card on his small coffee table, and opened up the next envelope. It was a home made card from
