2/3: Commissioned for Fletch's birthday. Each of the foreground trees represents a different person. I've tried to get light coming thru the trees. Acrylic paint on small canvas.

Dramatic light behind a departing thunderstorm turns the Badlands Wall gold. The incredible direct light with dark skies gave this place such an incredible depth and contrast. As I stood atop a rock formation at the White River Valley Overlook I felt small compared to this display of earth and sky.

in all probability I could still probably get a better shot of this painting. satin to semi-gloss finish due to a finishing layer of wood stain makes this extremely difficult to shoot without getting some amount of reflection off the surface. regardless this is my first painting in over a decade, though I may not be completely finished with it yet. I just wanted to post it to prove I've actually been working on something.

Somewhere northeast of Highway 5...good times! One of the coolest manifestations of aurora I have seen.

YES it is a photograph. It hasn't really been touched from the .raw file...One curves adjustment after a minor color correction.

Where is this?

About 50 Km from Fort Providence on the road that leads to the Junction, Highway 5, Fort Smith and Hay River in the Northwest Territories, Canada.
