Ah, I love making the computer do the heavy lifting! It's surprising what a few lines of code can do...ok, a few thousand lines of code.

Model took about 8 hours to create with no dynamic simulation. Coding still a WIP.

Back with an update on my 3D project. This is one of the primary locations to be featured in the film...a bombed out city, apparently almost devoid of life. But as the local garrison troops are about to find out, that is far from the truth...

A really quick sketch. Dunno, felt like I hadn't uploaded anything for a while :P
I'm working on a graphic novel so most paintingtime goes into that, I'll probably show it here when it's done. Just wanted to let you know :P

This was based on a black and white sketch I did a while ago -- I spent more time than usual polishing it up and refining the forms.

This was just over an hour, but I was really struggling, I'm not sure if I'm too happy with it, the castle and sense of scale seem way off :-/

Hey friends and fans! Here's one of dozen of pieces I've done for Naughty Dog's PS3 exclusive, The Last of Us, slated for release on May 7th, 2013 (i urge you to try the game when it's out, you won't regret any $$ spent!). This piece was done mid/late 2010 I believe and I'm happy that I can share it right now.

Cheers!

Here's another steampunky idea. I thought the port of Hartlepool in the northeast of England would be a fitting location for a steampunk picture. It was a huge shipbuilding centre in Victorian times, and must have been an amazing sight in its heyday.

I'm not happy with the placement of the figures, but can't see a way of rearranging them without obscuring too much of the back and midground.

Ok, here is what I want to call my first concept for my post-apocalyptic sci-fi project, although, I have to say it really isn't my first nor it is a proper concept, since I've been doing sketches for some time now and this image it's the result of merging and refining all those into one piece (among other experiments)...

So, it's taken me a while to develop this image, but I believe it has also help me to learn a lot and also generate many ideas that will allow me to continue my projecy in the future...

So, changing the subject, the new year has arrived!!!

...yes, like a week ago.

Ok, not really any news, but anyway, with the new year came the infamous new year resolutions. Now, I usually don't pay much attention to this, I mean, I rather not wait for a year to end in order to take a resolution (any other day also work for me) but this time my latest resolution and the new year happened to meet, so... new year resolution...

Whatever... my point is, I decided to slightly change my way of working, that is, doing more concept and less illustration... so I'll probably start submitting more loose works... at least I hope so... let's see how that goes...

Anyway, as always, I thank everyone who has faved, watched, commented or just spent a few seconds to take a look at my gallery; I really appreciated your support and it makes me really to know that (at least some of you) have enjoyed my work so far... I'll certainly keep trying to improve in any way I can... yeah, that's another new year resolution! ^^

Cheers!!! :D

Something I have been wanting to do all winter was to get photos of my Hometown Kalamazoo Michigan and Overgrow/apocalyptic the town. My friend Allie let me use her camera to go around and capture what I feel are some of the iconic places or fun places to overgrow in Kalamazoo. I'm still trying to think if I want this to be a period when a minimal human population still exists in the area or if it is a all humans evacuated or have passed. This is going to be a on going series using Photo, Matte and Digital illustration. Hope you enjoy!

Day 1. Walking through the caves makes my heart shiver. The silence is overwhelming. I can hardly see in the darkness and I stumble every other step.  I'm afraid. I do not comprehend why, there should be nothing here. Nobody has visited these caves for centuries, if not more. Why am I afraid?

Day 2. We ventured further down. Strangely enough, it's not becoming darker, but the light is somehow shifting. A few other members of our party, like me, are becoming weary. Why were we sent here? Why investigate caves nobody ever enters?

Day 3. We found something. It's in the far distance so it's hard to tell. The terrain is treacherous so we must be cautious. I'm still afraid, more so than before but somehow also excited. I want to know what it is down there. Whichever thing is causing the light, I want to know.

Day 4. I'm in shock. I do not know what to believe anymore. I'm afraid, or wait, should I be? I have questions. So many questions. Everywhere. We found...we found a vessel. It looked alien. Neither of our party members have ever seen anything like it. We believed aliens had once long ago crashed here. Until we looked inside. We found bodies. Yes, many bodies but what became clear to us all is that these were no aliens. No. These were humans.

Which one would you pick ?

I felt a little more philosophic this time ..almost political ... so this is about the gap between rich and poor, in a fictional world in which the rich ones have litterally risen up to split themselves from the poor people...
Although they are seperated I wanted to make their lifestlye and environment look more cheerfull and enjoyable than the grey, clean, regulated cities of the rich ...

I hope I did it correct and you feel the same !
GO FOR POOR ! ITS MORE FUN TO DRAW ! :)

------------------------------

I started this more than a year ago with a doodle at school.. it took finally about 40 hrs to finish...

EDIT: Yes ! I used the Spaceship of the "District 9" movie !
credit goes to whoever designed it and the moviecrew !

I generally do take my textures from [link] (cgtextures.com)
