The book that started it all. Phoebe isn't in this book (which is why she always says "At my old school..."), but Arnold is. And already he's complaining. Maurice was already up, working on a strange contraption that she didn't quite understand. She hadn't told him about the events of the night before. He was worried for her safety as it was without the added fear of gipsies. She stretched and clambered out of bed, pulling on her blue dress. Maurice looked at her a smiled. She looked out of the window, and too her astonishment, most of the faces she had seen the night before were still wandering around the street. The two girls at the far side were happily chatting together, there hands entwined. Belle smiled. It seemed so different in the daylight.
