Here's another insight in how/why I "simplify" so many parts for my paper models.

In this case, the Hylian Shield from Twilight Princess looks great of course! But for the scale I'm planning to make my paper model of Twilight Princess Link in, it is much too detailed...

Unless you make it really big (say, lifesized...? ;o) all the edges and bumps that give depth to the shield in the 3D model will become very small and almost impossible to build as it is.

As you can see, a lot of times "simplifying" a 3D model means editing the texture, so the details are included in the texture, rather than being seperate, difficult to build parts.

And if you look closely, you will also see that I made the shield a little bit thicker. That's just because I was afraid that when you would cut out the thin rim that runs around the shield, it would be difficult to handle and would tear if it was that thin...

But I still have to see how it will turn when I test build it all. ;o)

Sometimes I use transparant parts on my paper models, like on windshields and such, and this time on the visor for Lara's Extreme Depth Suit from her Chronicles adventure.

The trouble is, that you can see through transparant parts...

One one hand that's great of course (that's why you would use them), but it means they will also show the glueing tabs...

On this particular part though, I think you can get away with cutting off the glueing tabs that would show (the two in the center).

Because there are not a lot of unconnected edges (just two basically if you do it the way I did), and because you can shape the stiff transparant sheet by scoring it and making nice, sharp folds, and then "lock" the shape by glueing the other glueing tabs all around the edge to the rest of the helmet, the visor still keeps its shape despite not actually being glued together in the middle.

I don't think it will work on many parts, but in this case, it worked perfectly for me!

Having started work on my new Tomb Raider papercraft project, I think it jogged a few people's memories because I received several e-mails about the Tomb Raider 3 quad bike papercraft model I did earlier. ;o)

I released a blank version that you could print on coloured cardstock or that you could colour yourself, but the people that e-mailed me told me they had no idea how to colour a pdf file on the computer...

So I decided to release the templates for the blank quad bike version in jpeg format, that everybody should be able to work with. ;o)

These are the wheels, the body kit can be found at [link] The instructions stay the same of course ([link]) and if you want to mix and match components with the coloured versions from my website, make sure to print them at the same scale of course!

Good luck and have fun!

Kingdom Hearts: Heartless Battleship

Finally got my first project for 2010 completed and it looks dandy! I'm thinking of hanging this fellah up from the ceiling since, in the game, he's supposed to be flying around trying to blow Sora out from the skies!

Anyway, if you're interested into building your very own Battleship model, then feel free to drop by the blog and download the template.

Kingdom Hearts, Heartless and The Battleship are copyrights of Square-Enix

Dragon by BFPF

Got this model from the Japanese Pepakura Gallery. It looks awesome, so I just had to build it. Didn't realize just how big the thing is after I was finished building it.

It was the tallest papercraft model I made..... then I built Cloud (who's actually 2inches taller coz of his spikey hairdo)

Would be cool to have this thing double scaled. >_>

Belldandy via Papercraft Museum

Gave this to my Mom, coz she's into angels and stuff... and well, given that Belldandy is supposed to be a Goddess... and she has these angelic looking wings... well, why not.

There's a standing position for the model, but I chose the sitting one instead.... dunno, maybe I just like to make harder models. *cough*

yes i am counting from the bottom ._.
so this layer is a bit smaller than the others
but still took me around 10 hours
firstly because i had to make sure the 'chocolate rolls' at the side was glue properly so it wont unroll while i was presenting
secondly was because of the white sprinkles on top
which ...tends to fall off easily x:
thirdly was the strawberries

i made over 100+strawberries for the cake
each strawberry took me 2-3 minutes to make
i even had help from my friend, and they took 5 minutes to make one

Translation: Hello! My name is Harry Potter and my name is Ron. We have done lots of things in our lives.

The title should be "Le Château d'Être Page 1" but it won't let me place the proper accents so my OCD will have to succumb. This is the first page of a project I did for my high school French class. I'm fairly certain this was my third year, which means it was the year of 2007-2008, but I could be wrong about that. Our project was to make something to help us remember the verbs manipulated by the verb "être" (to be) when they are used in the past tense. I had already made my "House of Être" (which I will probably upload as well...) so I decided to expand on that idea and make a pop-up book. There are probably some mistakes with my translation, I've tweaked the story of Harry Potter as well, and my pop-up skills aren't fabulous, but I still had lots of fun making this, and I think it's still pretty neat. This is the second pop-up book I've made for school, and I plan to post the first one I made soon. The characters, setting, and story (kinda) come from J.K. Rowling. The character design comes from Neil Cicierega and his wonderful Potter Puppet Pals. I used paper for the page, black Sharpie for the writing, felt for the illustration, and duct tape for the binding.

Translation: We climbed the stairs and we entered the Great Hall.

The title should be "Le Château d'Être Page 4" but it won't let me place the proper accents so my OCD will have to succumb. This is the fourth page of a project I did for my high school French class. Translation: Voldemort came again in order to try to kill Harry. But Harry descended (as in to the dungeons) and he won the battle.

The title should be "Le Château d'Être Page 10" but it won't let me place the proper accents so my OCD will have to succumb. This is the tenth page of a project I did for my high school French class. Colored paper and glue. Plant stands around 1" in height.

This one is also from a few years ago. You can see how some of the teeth are a bit frayed.

Colored paper, plastic, and glue. The LxWxH of it is 1 1/8" x 1" x 1/2".

The plastic was from one of those clear plastic boxes that candles like to come in. I really liked how the rose design came out.

Unfortunately it isn't 100% my work :(
For projecting, making parts and textures, build I only did the last one!
I'm not talented and experienced to making fully Papercraft models...
I made it for fun, training building 3D models, to have nice model ^w^ and also to tribute people who can project models.
