TO THE ASPIRING ARTISTS...."The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who'll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you're sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that's almost never the case." - Chuck CloseTO THE ASPIRING ARTISTS.... in Personal More Like This

Yes, it is happening. Yes it starts tomorrow! (I've already started mine, have you?)
Commissions / Trades
This Monday is a bank holiday so I get a long weekend (I'm also taking a personal day tomorrow), I will be completing as many commissions / trades as possible. I want to be done with the $5 drawings (I can't really call them sketches anymore). There are a couple important works I really want to finish as well.
Please do not ask me at this time for commissions / trades, when I'm open again I will post about it in my journal. I do sometimes take requests but only on Tumblr and only if it's something simple and fun.
Minecraft Whitelist
If you play on our server and haven't logged in a for a while we are moving to a whitelist due to griefing and mod-hacking.
IM and Steam
If you want to trade IM addresses and Steam ID send me a note. I'm only on sporadically though.

To anyone who finds these memory cards,
and the messages left within...
My name is Charles Snippy. I am probably the last sane human being left on earth. I know not whether you will understand this message. I know not whether you'll even be able to decode the ones and zeros on these data cards. I know not whether my voice will even reach anyone.
I know not, whether the microscopic drives will last long enough and whether the plastic and metal which composes them will not disintegrate into dust as centuries pass or whether the titanium shell encasing them will remain in place or be consumed by the ever-changing landscape, lost forever.
And yet I still have hope that someone will find the story of my life, long past and learns something of use from it.
If you are still human, then this will be a story about the collapse of civilization of your forefathers through greed and arrogance.
If you are some other species entirely, then it is a story about how our human race was extin
Humans Becoming Robots, Robots Becoming HumanOn March 1, 2012 the Nevada DMV issued the first license for a “Google Driverless Car.” The idea behind this innovation is that one day soon new technology will drive cars safer and more skillfully than humans, thus saving lives and billions of dollars in car crashes. How well this idea catches on is a bit questionable, given the powerful “romance” of driving one’s car, but it’s certainly an indicator of things to come in the daily intersection of human and artificial intelligence and mobility. There have always been those who have dreamed of stepping into a mechanical exo-skeletal-type “suit” and letting the engineering do the work, instantly increasing limited human speed, strength, endurance and accuracy.Humans Becoming Robots, Robots Becoming Human in deviantART Blog More Like This

Alice X. Z. - Living Rainbow Taking FlightThe vibrant digital paintings of `alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable. The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.Alice X. Z. - Living Rainbow Taking Flight in deviantART Blog More Like This

Using references: good and badAfter reading this http://aquasixio.deviantart.com/art/Photoreferencing-to-make-the-difference-286581045?offset=80#comments , I wonder how many artist are using such a method. This tutorial makes me lose confidence in digital art.:/Using references: good and bad in Personal More Like This
To me it is cheating, especially when you don't mention that you use references at all, even worse: Tracing!
Using a reference is okay when you want to know how something looks like that it is hard to draw, but using the whole reference picture in your drawing, especially if this is the main focus of the drawing, is really lame.
What is your opinion about this?
Small Hints how to get views, faves etc.For a lot of you it might be nothing new, but since a lot of you are either new on dA or not experienced with something like "strategies" to get views, comments and faves for their works i thought i write up a few hopefully useful hints for you.Small Hints how to get views, faves etc. in Personal More Like This
1. Upload as many drawings photos etc. as you can. Some of you would argue now that it can be counterproductive if the deviations are not good, but i come to that point in #2
2. Join Groups. A Ton of them..at least 15-25. And submit your stuff to them on a regular base. BUT only the things you consider by yourself as "good". The rest is for your gallery only, and interesting for those deviants who want to see sketches, WIP's etc.
Always care about the theme of the dA groups of course and about their rules. If you are not Alvin Lee, Artgerm or Genzoman or have over 100k views on your profile already and over 400-500 watchers at least you really need dA groups to get known.
Of course some people see your stuff when you upload it. There is myself

Wacom Driver Not Booting Properly?Time To Share Some WisdomWacom Driver Not Booting Properly? in Resources More Like This
Trouble with your Wacom driver not booting properly on windows? For the longest time I had problems with my Wacom tablet being ready to work once Windows finished booting. When I picked up the pen it just didn't move. When I tried to open the Wacom Tablet Properties I got the message that the driver did not load or something. Only way to resolve this was to reboot the machine. Not via 'restart' no... a complete shutdown was necessary. Very annoying when your Windows takes a while to boot. Mine surely does.
Recently I had enough and started to look for a solution (for the 10th time or so). With the difference that I seem to have found one now. Don't bother with the Wacom forums. As far as I can see they don't have much of a solution. But anyways. What can you do to solve the issue? Well, time to share some wisdom. Here we go:
1. Click the Windows button and type Services into the quick search
2. Click the icon on top of the upcoming lis
