The pulsing, rhytmatic beat of the drums sent shockwaves through the ground. Everyone was laughing, dancing, and looking to the sky with expectation as the winds began to pick up. Wisps of rain bit at my face, lifting the strands of ebony hair that hung over my forehead. Crossing my leg over another as I leaned against the shed, I watched as our bonfire climbed high into the sky luminating the ground which my friends partied upon with a warm, fiery glow. Everything was going good, so far no pass-outs or freak-outs between couples. I sipped my Coke lazily, knowing that somebody somewhere had touched it with rum and not caring.
