Odd ReminiscenceI have a confession to make. Years back, when I was young and and a little bit funny in the head, I was a massive My Chemical Romance fan. Yes, that's right folks, I cut my hair all weird, worse rings of black eyeliner, and giggled over an emo with a voice like a woman.Odd Reminiscence in Personal More Like This
Anyhow, I was rummaging through a bunch of my old stuff just now, since I can't sleep, and I found my old MCR CDs. Out of a joke on myself, I popped in The Black Parade is Dead!, their Live CD/DVD from 2007. Well, believe it of not, I have been met by quite an unexpected surprise.
While I intended to be met with a ridiculously awful teeny-bopper band bashing out a bunch of bloody worthless bullshite, I have discovered the secret of MCR: they are actually pretty damn good! Melodious songs with decent riffs and lots of energy. Not only that, but I find myself even still impressed by the song writing, despite it being infused with mass amounts of supernatural and suicidal themes (not that what he writes, theme-wise, is a f
Naming my children- help?Trying to think of names for my Turntable and receiver amp... any suggestions?Naming my children- help? in Personal More Like This
My turntable is very reliable and is vintage. He's fantastic quality and people keep telling me that he will last for the rest of my life. He's really strong, and firm willed.
My receiver amp is a bit flashy and also vintage. He's stubborn and in perfect condition. He's Sherwood brand, so awesome quality as well, and he's got spunk, you know?
I kind of feel that the two of them work well together (they make perfect pitch and produce clear cut sound!) but they have this sort of rivalry in a way. Like they're competing with one another... they're opposites, two pieces to the same puzzle; soul mates, if you will.
Think of anything, let me know because I really want to take time with this decision. It's like naming your own children. All of us will be living with this decision for the rest of our lives and we need to make that count.
(This would be so much easier if the father was in the picture )
Really America? REALLY?I am not liking the idea of Sherlock Holmes in America. Not one bit. What's wrong with America? Can't they just come up with their own bloody ideas and stop stealing everyone else's? Why do they always feel the need to ATTEMPT to "outshine" everyone else? Not everything needs to be American. I mean, they've proven it time and again: America CAN NOT do television. The Brits have it down people! Look what happened when the Americans tried to remake Life on Mars? That was a total disaster. I mean, some American's even thought it was good and original, the poor bastards. Didn't even realise it was shit, and not only shit, but a cheap knock off of one of the best UK television shows ever created starring one of the most prestigious actors of our time - Mr. John Simm. I can just see this happening again, I can feel it; dear god, does history repeat itself.Really America? REALLY? in Personal More Like This

Living Rainbow Taking Flight
The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.

This year was especially important to me personally and was a milestone of sorts on
multiple levels and for deviantART as a whole. Many of the reasons why will become clear
over the next few months as announcements are made and new ideas are shared with everyone
in the community.
s the multi dimensional, pop fueled, color exploded dream like haze that was Comic-Con begins
to fully dim and fade from accurate remembrance, I can’t shake the feeling that this year was s

What do you think your favorite city will look like in one hundred years?
Architect Rem Koolhaas has completed a “vertical city” complex in Rotterdam, bringing a new style of multi–purpose skyscrapers to the city skyline. Bennett Stein wrote about the new buildings for KCRW’s Design & Architecture blog, calling the creator “the Godzilla of architecture.”
Here’s an excerpt from Stein’s essay:

You're cool and you should like yourselfCause I mean, I may have my flaws, but it's been fifteen years and I've yet to find anyone quite like myself. I'm interesting and one of a kind, and so are you- and the fact that you get to be with a one-of-a-kind person for the rest of your life is pretty cool! You may not get to know what's in the hearts of others, but you'll always get to know what's in yours. In my opinion, we're all just souls observing others; but to do so, we need the eyes of a body. Now, what's the point of complaining about the body you were given? What's not to like? Why would you want to change it? Your body is just the tool you were given to live; it has nothing to do with defining your soul. I mean, having a body at all is pretty damn cool. Being able to see and smell things, touch, taste, move around. Being able to talk. Those are things you should like about yourself. And heck, the fact that you exist. You shouldn't think that the skin you live in degrades the person you are, because it really doesn't, mYou're cool and you should like yourself in Personal More Like This

The Serenely Powerful Art of `yuumei
In the top half of an hourglass, a polar bear and her cub perch perilously atop a wedge of melting ice, its dripping water becoming the "sand" that is inexorably drowning an urban couch potato figure in the hourglass's bottom chamber. The beautiful yet arresting digital painting is "Countdown" by yuumei and it is currently one of the most popular pieces on deviantART. It is "archetypal yuumei" in its perfectly balanced blending of a striking lyrically beautiful visual with an underlying urgent social or political message.
Her specialty is digital art in an anime style, but she often employs traditional watercolors and other elements. Her cause is saving and preserving what's left of the Earth's wildlife and its environment; she donates large portions of profits from her artworks to a host of wildlife and environmental organizations and urges all deviants and others to do the same. But what has really been her stand-out achievem

Merry War on Christmas, everybody! Once again the wheel of the year has turned and we find ourselves faced with the holiest of holy times of the year -- every atheist's favorite war, the War on Christmas!
Last year, I wrote a journal sharing critical information about the traditional celebrations of the annual War, including some important information about AntiChrist-mas.
Well, one thing I neglected to tell you all is that every year brings new ways to celebrate -- because creating new traditions is part of the tradition! Let's dive straight in to the celebrations, shall we?
Christians typically are the first to fire shots during our sacred holidays, and this year is no different.
Sarah Palin released a book earlier this November (well before the traditional War on Christmas celebrations typica
Current scams you should be aware ofAs being the "I've nearly seen it all now" person, I'd like to share more of this random, incidental knowledge in a way that will be helpful to everyone. Here are a couple of the scams I know about and you should too. Be careful out there, scammers are getting more and more information than you realize.Current scams you should be aware of in Personal More Like This
The bait and snatch or the "honey I love you, now send me money" scam: I see this one ALL the time, and it's unfortunate because people really do think that these scammers are ideal people to be with and it makes it all the harder to say sorry hun, this man/woman is a fake. These people are from foreign countries, some of them from US territories such as Guam. They may be from Nigeria too, of course, typically it's Africa or a US territory. You will find these people on dating sites and sometimes Craigslist (that place, on a whole, should be avoided as much as possible anyway, but more on that later) and target people who are desperate, lonely, have low self esteem, or just look like an
Anime Milwaukee......was awesome! I saw Little Kuriboh and the Nostalgia Critic, along with his brother. Orlando also came in at the end of one of the panels and I had no idea he was even coming! Weird. Well. Guess who got his pony? XD I'll admit that crowds make me nervous, but the thought of what I intended to do had me about ready to hurl because I was at a Q&A and my question wasn't a question, but rather that I had a present on behalf of the MLP community. I stormed the stage (cautiously, mind you!) and gave it to him at the panel. He was more amused than anything else, so I guess nobody cared that I went up on stage to give him the pony. We got a picture later, with me in my Derpy Hooves cosplay. Here it is, if that's what interests you: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b250/secretsheik/IMG_5371.jpg Oddly enough, later, before a panel, I was showing my sketchbook to one of the staff at the con outside the panel, and Doug just walks up behind me and goes "Oh hey, sketches!
