For ~foxikun's contest. [link]
This is Sheiara (Shi-Air-Uh) The juggling fox of an otherwordly circus of some such. She cannot fly but her back wings help her to float a bit and glide. Her main act is leaping from a bridge and gliding over the Off-World Ocean while juggling up to fifty clocks (although I have another character who could beat that with his dead toad juggling act but that is for another time...ehem)
Sorry...I do not know how to draw foxes apparently. The back is purposely long and sort of twisted like that though. Nothing special or overly unique, and I think it could have been better. The scan did horrors to it as always but oh well. And I hate how pink her markings look when they were supposed to be red. I hope you like it a little Foxikun.
Time: About seven hours maybe?
Tools: 0.5 mm mechanical pencil, watercolours and acrylics.
Reference: none, the horrible orange thing by the fox was supposed to be moth until it got partly painted over, the real moth was watching me (amongst hundreds of other buggers) draw.
Time stood still when I looked at her face,
and my clocks shattered and cried. For an instant I thought that two such lonely creatures might find a place to die in one another's hearts, but then...nothing passes well between a mistress of mists and a Baron of Time doomed forever to his clocks.
Entry for *Nyxen's contest.
The Baron of Time (whom by the way hardly looks like himself here +gag+) Has been drawn into Nyxen's world where time stands still. Drained of what power he had he is left defenseless staring into the dreamy mare's violet eyes while his shackles (the clocks) shatter, also powerless in a world without time.
Not happy with it at all. But, we all know how that goes. I wish I had not done it so last minute and especially at this time. But oh well. Anyways, sorry for making you wait Nyxen. This is probaly the...fifth try maybe? Not to count all the hundreds of actually good ideas that never happened, including the ones I started over the Summer.
Time: About eight or more hours maybe?
Tools: 0.5 Mech pencil, watercolours and acrylic.
Reference: Pictures of Nyx and photos of Feather.
I know it is quite possible for there to be more title space...oh well.
Stress sketching and it was not going well until I envisioned browns and an equine running at an odd angle and suddenly this happened. I know the pose is very odd and so is the equine itself, also some of the lines are pixilated and uneven but really I do not have time to be doing this...I need to get to some other stuff. I have really been fancying that angle as of late though.
The carousel pony has broken away, but the pole is still his troubles which he has not rid of, a reminder of that which he left. You cannot run from your troubles and fears all the time, and from your responsibilities because you cannot escape them fully, and there they will stay with you like a pole in your back. This I need to learn and so this is a reminder to me.
Dedicated to my love ~ancient-shadow for teaching me in several ways that you cannot just hide from your problems and whine and cower.
Time: Four hours and ten minutes.
Tools: XP-Pen Tablet CG deleter Illust
I decided to take a dive in the lake of a secret cove Julio and I had discovered. Who would have thought it would make anyone who swims in it grow incredibly overweight! Of course I'm owning it.~
Julio belongs to .
I've wanted to upload this for a long time, but I couldn't get around to making the background for it. What a great opportunity to use this as my premiere image on Patreon. No one better than Chubeko Koneko herself in her infamous size!
An updated picture of one of my more favorite avian characters, Aerros. He's made a couple appearances in my gallery before, but this is my favorite of him. Vamped up his colors just a teeny bit, and I like how it turned out. He's the protector of my white crow deity, Duskas.
Okay so this was actually a little spontaneous! ~CaptainCougar did lineart of Tauvuranu back in 2008 that I really really liked, but I didn't have my tablet at the time. I was going through my faves and I found it, and decided I wanted to color it. I played with Tauvy's colors and pattern ever so slightly, and I think I like this a lot. Afterward, I asked ~dragonrise to do some of her fantastical shading. So you could call it a three-way collaboration, of sorts.
Augh, it felt so weird to use pencils again. I did a rehaul of Shai's anthro version, and I really really like how it turned out. I think I'm going to stick with this for sure. I need to come up with a species name.
Micron and white colored pencil on scrap packing paper stuff. tinkered with in photoshop (eyes, little stars and word) ....I'm so in love with this it's ridiculous. Be warned about more in this style. I know at least one more pic like it.
btw, this is a redraw of one of my all time fav pics, done WAY back in the day ^^
These gentle giants glide through mysterious kelp gardens. They frequently travel long distances between their favorite gardens. They are not fast, but they are strong and hardy. They travel in herds, and are often accompanied by dolphins who like to follow into the gardens after some of their favorite foods. They are referred to both as sea horses and sea drakes. They are gentle and easy going most of the time, but cross one and you find them lethal. They may not be built for speed, but they can pack a punch with their massive tails, enough to stun great white sharks and kill anything smaller.
So, anyways, I sketched this guy out awhile ago. A month and a half or something? And I really liked him. Coloring was inspired largely by =DancesWithHorses's boy Mako. The more this guy came to life, the more I liked him. Lots of new things with the background, but I am very happy with it.
The original is for sale for $150. I will mat it to 11X14 for an additional $5. Drawn on 9X12 sketch paper with Prisma pencils and sprayed with fixative. Prints are also available through me. Note me if interested
Less than a week and I got the background done! That is progress, yes? For me anyway.
Sdjurni with a background. I debated using charcoals on the background, but I kind of like that the shadows on Sdjurni's body are darker than a background. Lots of work. Very sore arm. Print coming soon.
Okay, it's probably not really doing that, that's just what it looks like to me.
I did this because i have decided to do what I want to do artistically (meaning, make it into a career), I am going to have to cater to the equine market, because there still is one around me even though I haven't gotten into it yet. That means, less fantasy . . .
Yeah, and I decided I'm gonna do a little series here. At least three. Maybe more. This piece was . . . maybe 10 hours? Maybe a little more? It's been awhile since I've done just pencil. And white horses are always challenging.
Original is for sale. $40, I'm thinking. Note me if interested. See my website for information on prints. Prices start at $2.50.
