The Legend Of Korra
Fans sadly bid adieu to the The Legend of Korra series as its run on Nickelodeon came to a close this past December. A sequel to the popular Avatar: The Last Airbender, the series takes place 70 years after Avatar and follows 17 year old Korra as she tries to master the last element needed to become a full Avatar.

“The wind within the trees was a whisper that spoke our tongue, and the stars in the sky shone on the gods of our heavens, alight and alive. What is science against alchemy, we asked them, what is coincidence against prophecy? Kings and beggars stand equal as fates unfold and worlds awake, as heroes rise and deities fall… among nymphs and mermaids, against harpies and sorceries, we must stand as one. Will you brave the lands of myth and legend with us?”

Giallo is Italian for yellow… and Horror
In the wake of the real life horrors meted out on Italians during World War II, brutalized by Mussolini and then by Nazi occupation and then having their country used as one great battleground chessboard between Nazis and the invading U.S. and Allied forces, there was for a long time little appetite for horror in movies. It wasn’t until 1956 that the first genuine horror film (a vampire story) was produced and released. It bombed, soundly rejected by the public. The film would be of little note

I listen to Hollywood Babble On, a thoroughly puerile show (probably one of the reasons it’s on my playlist) which is hosted by Ralph Garman and Kevin Smith. A little while back, a teacher of Garman’s kid was said to be in the audience and Garman joked that he’d better be on his best behaviour otherwise the teacher would call child protective services ‘round.
Smith’s jokingly sexual humour over the course of the show didn’t help out with this at all, AND it gave me an idea for a quick pin-up to draw….. which I did….. and which I thought, at the time, would be really funny to send to them….. which I did…. along with a gag about me drawing smutty comics…… which has come back to bite me…..

Put simply, I have this (evidently archaic) opinion that; if you want to make money, you have to do the work first. I don’t like the idea of taking money off people unless they get something for it immediately, not [insert timeframe here] down the line. It feels like a scam. That’s why I produce all those cheap digital comics: to finance my larger projects (and which is why I get pissed off when I find them being distributed freely online, because it slows everything down).
Even for large projects, like video-games that only have a niche audience and which big publishers won’t ever assist: I don’t see crowd funding as a particularly good way to go about getting production capital. I prefer the early release approach, such as that Mojang took with Minecraft.

Battle Chasers ended 14 years ago, after a mere 9 issues. I would say “suddenly” but their release schedule was almost as sporadic as mine. It just sort of fizzled, stopped and then everyone involved wandered away.
The artist, Joe Madureira went off to make video games and was involved with two studios…both of which closed. The most recent was Vigil, who made the rather pleasing Darksiders, which is probably where the non-comic readers out there will recognise Joe Mad’s western-manga style from.
Unfortunately, Vigil went bye-bye because its parent company, THQ, crashed and burned. All the IPs and studios under its wing were sold off. No one wanted Vigil, but the Darksiders brand was nabbed by Nordic games, who have yet to announce anything involving it.
This all left the remnants of Vigil having to rebuild, and obviously

That the thwarting of the November 5th gunpowder plot is remembered is arguably one of the two reasons why the Brits are universally unafraid of terrorism (the second being that Fair Blighty has faced down the largest war machines the world has ever seen. The British Empire was the biggest drug-dealing organisation in history and made a fortune selling opium to China. In the mid 19th century, when the Chinese Emperor tried to stop them, they sent in The Nemesis – basically the Death Star of the era – which proceeded to decimate the entire Chinese fleet. Then they stole Hong Kong.

Politicians, regardless of where in the world they hail from, are generally bullies. You have to be a special kind of egomanic, self-serving prick to claw your way into a position where you have the power to put other people in harm’s way to benefit your own agenda. The only difference geography seems to bring is a level of subtlety. Drawing from life is awesome!
Look for life drawing classes in your environment, or if they're not available; ask your friends to pose for you. Go have a drink in the city when the weather is nice, and sketch people passing by. There's nowhere you learn more about human anatomy than by observing and sketching real people. There's only one downside to this; dynamic poses are tricky, as it's hard for any model to hold a difficult pose for a long time.

EncouragementWhen I started out on DeviantArt, I used to be one of those artists that thought I could never do art properly.Encouragement in Deviant Events More Like This
I'll start saying that I spend most of my childhood getting only little encouragement.
My parents were, like many other parents, convinced that art wasn't that much of a useful skill since it's nearly impossible to earn money with -- and would've liked it if I spend my time doing something more useful instead. At school I was that pathetic kid without friends. Creative, yet very introverted. The one that gets bullied in the schoolyard. Needless to say; it was rare to find people saying something nice about me, and it was even more rare to find someone actually encouraging me.
Back then, I used to believe that I was alone. I initially signed up to DeviantArt to find people with similar interests. But it happened to change my mind along the way. When I came into contact with other artists, I came to realize that there were in fact many people just like me. People th

"Will you be my friend?" is one those questions I get the most.
It's also one the questions I have to answer with a negative answer the most, because I don't like lying to people.
Like I've told in some of my earlier journals, my life didn't overflow with friendship nor popularity when I was younger. It was quite the contrary. I wasn't anything near popular, to the point that most people didn't even want to have anything to do with me. As the kid that got bullied, the few that dared to get close to me, more or less put their social status in the group at stake by even talking to me. And as a result, I guess I valued their friendship a lot. After all; I knew what they risked.
Coming from that sort of situation, friendship has always been a very important but at the same time mysterious matter to me. Something not be

Watch people when you honestly find them interesting.
Watch your friends, even if they don't have amazing art. It helps you stay updated with their progress.
Watch groups. They'll offer you a fine selection of art you're interested in, and will help you discover new (interesting) artists.
Check the faves of people you watch. As you like their work, you might have similar tastes in art. Checking their faves might help you find cool art.
Recommend art from people that you watch for a Daily Deviation (if good art, of course).
Uncheck all boxes when watching. There's nothing more disappointing than an empty watch.
Being happy with your artI've noticed lately, that there's this emotion that leaves people overwhelmed with the massive amount of good art in the community, thinking that they can never become as good or popular as those others. So sad, because skill or popularity in itself shouldn't be the major goal of an art community. I think many people who start out here get so overwhelmed that they forget what it's actually about.Being happy with your art in Deviant Events More Like This
Many people out here, sign up to DeviantArt (or any internet art community) in order to publish their work on the internet. They've probably looked around for a while already. They saw those amazing artists that had millions of pageviews, and secretly hoped that by putting their art on the internet, they would be able to do the same. To become madly popular -- a community icon.
Well, sorry to burst your bubble; but it's probably not gonna happen. And if it's gonna happen; it's not going to be soon.

It was a cold day in February. I can still remember that day.
It wasn't that busy at my job. Just another day of mostly waiting for feedback. So I took the liberty to surf around the internet for a bit. Like every day before, I checked DeviantArt. I had posted some art some while ago. I submitted it to some groups, but didn't quite get the response that I hoped for. Let alone; the feedback. It's hard to get feedback on your art. Nowadays most people just fave and run, or tell you that your work is awesome (which is sweet, of course) without any further explanation. Most of the art forums that I used to reside on, where either dead, or I'd outgrown the user-base so much that I was at the point that there weren't any more talented users that could give me feedback anymore. If I had to wrap it up in just one word: Frustrating. That's what is was.

"How the hell did you get so many people to view your art? You're not even that good!"
I can't do anything other than honestly admitting that I'm not that good at art. I'm not some awesomely skilled concept artist, at least. I've seen many people do a better job while receiving a lot less of attention.
Why a medium like DeviantArt works for me? Probably because I've been around on the internet for so long, and I've spend so much time working for internet-marketing company's, that things like advertising and web usability have become a second nature to me. A lot of the things that I've come to regard as common sense in internet communication, are things that are nowadays proven successful by research.
It's important to know that websites like DeviantArt are listed in the category social media. That probably didn't occur to most people, since DeviantArt seems to be so heavily focused towards art (and tradi

You...never really get to see the true nature of a person, or, rather, you may get to witness a different side (more often than not, an uglier side) of someone when your relationship nears its end (whether it be a friend, lover, etc).
Be careful if you decide to stick around to see if things will get better. You may truly desire to mend things with the person, and by all means you should let them know that, but it takes two to work things out in any kind of partnership. Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 6 in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu
Cryamore - Insane Development UpdateSo we're ending the 2nd week off with a bunch of good news. I honestly didn't expect the game to get this much attention so far... O___OCryamore - Insane Development Update in Personal More Like This
Well, first off, if you've not been following the devblog, we have a composer for Cryamore.
Her name is Aivi Tran. And man if you haven't heard of her, she's awesome.
She has a very healthy diet of the games and music that inspired the design of Cryamore, and she is just as enthusiastic as we are. Her compositional style is very reminiscent of the Zelda series, Secret/Legend of Mana, and Chrono Trigger,to name a few.
Here are a few examples of what she's capable of, as far as composing:
Project VGM - 65 - Duke Moirai (Aivi Tran)
Breeze in the Clouds - Gust/Main Theme

I didn't loathe at myself wishing that I could "draw feet" when working on a piece at the spot where I have to draw feet on the picture.
I didn't go to further schooling to let someone hand me a piece of paper on their own terms and timeframe telling me if I'm "capable of art" or not.
I took things into my own hands.
A couple of common phrases to make to artists who are (of the person who believes that they're) "inexplicably too good" that annoy me are:
"Ugh, I really wish I had your talent. Why are you so good!?"
"You're so lucky. I wish I could do what you do".
"I could never pull this off the way you pull it off."
Now, I understand that there are certain levels of aptitudes and paces that different people learn by, so don't get the idea of this entry wrong. But, really, let me make an illustration here:
I used to pl
