It was dark; one lonely man stood in a nearly empty parking lot. He had stepped out of his car to go use an ATM machine nearby, as he walked towards the machine a barely audible sound could be heard nearby; the sound of someone cracking their knuckles. The man approached the machine and prepared to use it, when something in the shadows of the night lurked closer. It was very tall; clad in black and odd barbwire-like tendrils protruding from its back. It reached out one of its hands slowly, the man didn’t realize that he was about to be grabbed and crushed by this odd monster.
Suddenly; a cackle was heard. The frightened man turned around quickly, and the hand that was about to grab him drew back. Someone ran across the parking lot, they were dressed in a white hoodie and armed with a single large knife.
“Such a late hour, shouldn’t you be sleeping!?” Jeff the killer rasped maniacally. He reached the horrified and confused man, and then plunged the knife into his

“You still going on about that old book?” Luke questioned Ethan as they were walking to school. “It’s probably just some old history book or something that belonged to some foreign guy you know.”
“No, I think it’s more than that. I can feel it.” Ethan replied confidently, thinking about the old and mysterious tome.
“Well . . . Can I see it?” Luke eyed Ethan’s backpack, looking to see if there were any shapes that suggested a large book was in there.
“I left it at home, don’t want anything bad to happen to it.” Ethan informed him, to his disappointment.
“Well it’s been what, a week since you found it? I’m free today; can I come over and see it?” Luke asked hopefully, intrigued by it.
“Not today, sorry; I have some chores.” Ethan thought back to the situation at home, “Something

After his encounter with the demon in town, Ethan decided to return to the forest. However, he had realized again his hunger, and decided that he had no other choice but to do something about it. He had managed to steal some food from a stand to feed himself. He didn’t like stealing, but he didn’t really have any other options.
Only after satisfying his hunger did Ethan make his way back to the forest. He looked around constantly for any signs of the demon he had encountered before, but didn’t manage to detect any trace of him.
Ethan didn’t really know if he wanted to see that demon again. He was glad that the demon hadn’t killed him, but he didn’t seem all too friendly with him either. The next time Ethan encountered him, maybe the demon would be bored and then decide to fight him. Ethan cringed slightly, remembering the demon’s menacing claws sheathing and unsheathing so easily.
He sighed and decided that, whether he’d m

Ethan continued through the forest. It was at least midday now, though he couldn’t tell how long he had been walking for. His foot hurt very badly, but he didn’t know where he could go for help, or who to ask for help.
He stopped and looked down at his injured foot. Dark blood had dried and caked on his toes around where they were bent upwards. Ethan grimaced and looked away, hoping it wouldn’t get infected.
Ethan limped over to a tree and leaned against it, trying to think of where to go next. He didn’t want to go back to the house where he had heard the two people talking in a different language, as he was afraid they were going to be hostile. He couldn’t go back home; his parents didn’t believe him. He couldn’t go into town, either, because the townsfolk would probably shoot him on sight.
Then he gained a shred of hope when he remembered his friends. Surely Penny and Luke would believe

The hoot of an owl sounded, and managed to wake Ethan up. He opened his eyes slowly, and for his right eye, difficultly. Something seemed to be caked around his right eye, but he managed to look up.
He was lying on his back on the ground, in the middle of the forest; looking up into the sky. It was dark now, the sun had set and the numerous stars shined like gems in the sky. Ethan groaned, his entire body felt sore. Not quite remembering what had taken place, he tried to pick himself off of the ground, failed, and fell. He tried once more, and managed to sit up. He noticed a very strong scent in the air as well.
Something was off, his vision felt odd. The night seemed clearer to him, it was easier to point out different objects. His hand felt as if there was something on it. Ethan raised his right hand to look at it. Once his eyes made out the hand in the darkness, he gasped in horror at the sight of it.
Ethan’s right hand w

Ethan blinked his eyes open, and then looked up. The dark sky was getting brighter, he looked around; confused. He didn’t realize how long he had been lying there.
After running from his parents, he had passed out due to fatigue and pain from his foot. Ethan had lied there unconscious throughout the night, now as he was awaking, it was near dawn.
He placed his deformed hand on the ground and pushed himself upwards to sit up. He looked around again, the scene from just a few hours before played in his mind. He whimpered, lifting his mask with one hand and wiping away a few remnants of tears and blood from his face.
Ethan was about to stand up when something caught his eye, he looked forward curiously. Something was lying in the grass in front of him; he reached forward and gently took ahold of it with his long claws.
He grew even more curious and intrigued when he saw that it was a feather; a large, ragged, black feather. He recognized it, as it seemed to be si
