A Curious Case Of Loving A Hatter
Thus grew the tale of Wonderland...
Lancelot Pendragon would have never thought to stay late at the office. He was a busy man, yes. But he had his secretary, Gerard Montain, planning tomorrow's appointments and such. Lance sat at his desk, back arched in a elegant manner, hands folded under his chin. Eyes staring at nothing in particular. He was wary of running into Dr. Emile Dorin and thus half the reason he had stayed late. Something else was also digging at the older Pendragon's mind. A knock on his office door, prompted him to actually look at something.
"Yes?" He asked, arching a quizzical eyebrow.
Gerard walked into the office in his usual business like manner. Lance sat up a little straighter. Gerard was a work-a-holic at best but he was good at his job and he didn't let anything slow him down from getting anything done. If a task was given, Gerard would see it through until it was finished promp

"A Brief Visit To Arkham"
Don't ever look too far because you don't know how far you will fall and you might not be able to throw out your hands in time but you can some how count on someone to be there to catch you...if you can find someone to trust that is...
The usual dreary grayness of Gotham's skies caused a slight rain shower to perfume the air, making it a few degrees warmer but it didn't help the back drop as a small car pulled up to Arkham's gates. The window rolled down and a red headed woman held out her ID card to the guards who stood out front. One of the guards looked it over and then nodded his head as he and the other guard opened the gates for her to drive on through. The red head kept her hands on the wheel, her fingers clinging to the soft leather as she drove slowly. Her light blue eyes keeping their gaze on the dark building straight ahead. She drew a breath as she parked her car in

Commissioner Jim Gordon rubbed his eyes and then placed his glasses back on his face. He was looking over what appeared to be a 'clean crime scene'. The men and woman of his unit were baffled, had become baffled. There was nothing broken, no forced entry, nothing.
"Did we find anything?" Gordon asked, although he knew the answer as the question left his lips.
"Nothing sir. The tea shop is clean", Allen replied, he then held up in his hand a neatly folded piece of paper, "Though, Andrews and I found this while doing a sweep of the tables".
Gordon took the neatly folded piece of paper from Allen and opened it. It was a poem but the words were lost on Gordon. Allen just shrugged.
"The Jabberwocky?" Gordon muttered under his breath.
"Whoever this guy is. He's polite enough not to steal, break or do anything except have a cup of tea and write poetry", Allen commented.
"This is no ordinary criminal", a gruff voice spoke out.

The last several months have been the happiest of my life. I haven't been this happy since marrying my husband, Daniel. We didn't know we were going to have a child. And to be honest, we weren't planning to have one. But when we found out, even Daniel was tearing up at the thought of a little girl or boy running around the house. In fact, check up after check up, we found out we are going to be having a girl. As I have stated in my other entries, I have been reading books to the womb, so my daughter will be full of life and imagination. Books I read back when I was a child and I was in high school and college. But for the last couple of months I have gotten interested in rereading Lewis Carroll. A name I surely hadn't seen in years but a name I was familiar with. Daniel sat in at times to hear me read and he did often voice his opinion about Carroll's books. Daniel is more of a Science-fiction and history reader, he doesn't like fantasy too much. But

His eyes stared up at the dark and blank stone ceiling. There were no cracks to be seen and there was a thick layer of dust rising against it. Small white flecks of dust rising off the floor, dancing slowly in the darkness. The only hint of light came from out in the hallway from the dimmed lighting on the ceiling. Faint screams were heard from the halls just beyond his cell. His hands were folded on top of his stomach. He drew a slight breath, his mouth open slightly. His tongue clicked slightly against his teeth, as though he were counting them. But not even that could entertain his attention. Not even the only two items he was allowed, his top hat nor his copy of "Alice In Wonderland", could keep his mind occupied. Jervis was so deep in his t

But upon trying to enter part of the city, they found the city to be under some sort of lock down. But not the whole city of Gotham was. Some sort of invisible wall or fence seemed to be trapping the northern part of the city but both of the figures had tried to see a way around it. They walked around aimlessly but there was no way in. And they were the only ones who seemed to be on the outside. The redhead young woman had decided to try to find a ladder to climb over the invisible wall. One-Shot: Madness Meets MagicIt was late afternoon and a thunderstorm in Gotham was not unheard of. A fierce wind seemed to hit against windows, rattling anything that was not nailed down. Thunder clapped loudly as lightening seemed to light up the sky, flashing blindly and brightly. The window in Jason Blood's apartment had been left open with the intention of making the air less stuffy in the living room. The apartment was quiet and left unattended. It's occupants out in the city for the time being. Perched on the second shelf of the book case was a snow globe. Although, the snow globe was not there intentionally for decoration. It was holding a being who had been grounded. The figure sat in it's chair, arms folded and looking annoyingly tempered. His cat, Teekl, had been curled up on the shelf, napping since her master's imprisonment in the globe. She had snuck back into the apartment some time ago and had been napping there ever since. Jonathan Crane sighed in agitation as he reached up to remove his glasses from his face as they had started to make sweatbeads along the bridge of his nose and his eyes, which sort of blured his vision in the semi-darkened room of his office, which was a big windowless room with shelves and tables, a couple of chairs, a floor lamp and a small light on his chemestry table. Each flat surface of his office was covered in items ranging from his fixation with fear toxin gas to several items that weren't his.
The items in question belonged to his delusional and overly imaginative friend, Jervis Tetch. Jervis was seated in a low arm chair in the corner of the room next to the floor lamp. Erin Knightly was perched on Jervis's leg. His arm was wrapped about her waist. His other hand was perched under his chin, blue eyes watching between what Jonathan was doing and Erin. Erin was thoughtfully reading her copy of "Alice In Wonderland that Jervis had gotten her a wh

A rather disgruntled Oswald Cobblepot, better known as the Penguin, gripped in his hand. Firefly had the shorter man by the back of his tux jacket. Giving him a good view of Gotham City. Penguin didn't look so pleased and a little bit sick at going so fast. He wasn't the least bit thrilled because the other criminal had barged in on his date with Erin Knightly. The redhead was standing just beneath them on the ground, looking less than pleased.
"Psh! Knightly, please! This flightless bird needs to be taught the ropes of what it's like to live in this city!" Firefly told her.
Erin made a disapproving face, planting herself firmly on the ground, her hands on her hips. Lips pressed together and glaring up at him. Not that Firefly really cared.

Nadia followed Dorothy's gaze to the third member present in her small apartment, to a girl who couldn't have been a day over 18, but her gaze suggested one looking into a place far, far away in both time and space. Her long black hair was neatly pulled into two long, ropey braids, curling and twisting as they snaked down her sides. The last time he'd seen her, she had taken a knife through the stomach and he hadn't even had time to try to heal her before he had been dragged off, barely able to defend himself. That was the explanation for the massive blood loss he was experiencing, the awful pain in his leg.
But he didn't feel the physical pain. He didn't feel the blood loss. Only the loss of Annabeth.

Annabeth dug her toes into the sand and looked out over the Sound. Far out in the water, dark clouds boiled and rain came down slowly, methodically. Camp Half-Blood, however, was nothing but clear skies and sunshine, as always.
Percy came up and stood next to her, ran his hand down her arm to her hand and held it. "You wanna go out there?" he asked, smiling with excitement.
"I don't have my bathing suit on"
"Doesn't matter. Let's go!"
Percy kicked off his shoes and ran down to the water, dragging a laughing Annabeth along behind him. He calmed the waves as they waded into the shallows and Annabeth wrapped her arms around his neck as they swam out past the camp's borders and into the rain.

It was slow, which was good because it had been slithering after him and Annabeth for the past three days. Now that they were at the Doors, though, it had finally caught up.
And all the other monsters that had been chasing them were catching up, too. Percy was glad he couldn't see most of them, but even in the dim light of his sword, what he saw made him wonder if he'd ever be sane again. A large part of him wished he were dead.
Then there was Annabeth. She'd been beyond brave, limping along on her wounded ankle, trying to find any information about the Doors that she could on her laptop. For most demigods, a bad day consists of several near-death experiences, a monster in your school locker, an encounter with an angry deity, or, for Annabeth, a spider sighting.
But I'm used to that stuff! My day was so bad because it was so normal.
It started with oversleeping. That's about as normal as it gets for a high school student. Paul insists that he tried very hard to get me up, but I was unresponsive. Bottom line, he left without me, and I had to run all the way to school because I didn't have enough time to get a cab.
I was about a half hour late, a new personal record. My first period teacher gave me detention.
Between classes, as I was walking to my locker, some idiot obviously didn't see me (or maybe I wasn't paying attention) and he opened his locker right in front of me. I ran straight into it and had a nosebleed through the next two classes. Fortunately, my nose wasn't broken.
Not Without MeShe stared up at the dome of the Vatican in wonder. It was some of the most incredible architecture Annabeth had ever seen, and the paintings that decorated the walls breathtaking. That didn’t help the fact that she put way too much pressure on herself. And she knew she did it, too. Which, of course, put more pressure on her. This time, she wasn’t sure she could do it.
She’d hit a wall. The plans for Olympus were at a standstill and she’d spent the past three hours drawing, erasing, and ultimately throwing away sketches. Her vision was unfocused, her head pounded louder than thunder, and there was a constant, throbbing ache, a knot of tension right between her shoulder blades. No matter how many times she straightened up, or rolled her shoulders, or stretched, it just wouldn’t go away.

"Ve~?" Italy asked sleepily as he stirred.
"Italy, you need to wake." Germany told him quietly. Italy smiled at him.
"Buongiorno, Doitsu." Italy murmured.
"Guten Morgen, Italia." Germany replied.
"Ve~... Do we have training today?"
"No, we don't."
"Yay~!" Italy's smile grew and Germany couldn't help but chuckle at the sleepy Italian's excitement.
"Hurry up and I'll go make breakfast." Ludwig said before rising from the bed.
"Pasta?" Feli asked.
"Sure." Ludwig chuckled and left the room. Feliciano stretched, managing to take up the full length of the bed as he did. Soon enough he was up and dressed, walking towards the kitchen.

Feli paced the bedroom, wondering how to get Ludwig to talk to him again. What if he got rid of Otto? Besides murder, Feli wasn't sure how he'd get the older German to leave him alone. As innocent as the Italian was, he still understood that murder accured & what it was. Of course, that didn't mean he actually saw it as an option, Otto was still his first love, the Holy Roman Empire.
"Ve~! What if I got Ludwig a puppy?" Feli asked aloud before frowning & shaking his head. Ludwig had said that he'd picked Otto, but over what? Over who? Feliciano sighed in thought.

Doctor Charlie Nadler sat at one end of a long table. He shifted in his seat and adjusted his glasses in anticipation. He had no shame admitting that he was nervous. The patient that he was waiting to meet was only fifteen years old. This unsettled the doctor more than it should. Even taking his lack of training in adolescent psychology out of consideration, just thinking about the moral violation that is a teenager being thrown into Arkham Asylum nearly made the doctor queasy.
The doctor-patient session room that he sat waiting in was small and overwhelmingly grey. Everything from the floor and walls to the table and chairs were completely devoid of color. It almost made Nadler wish he had dressed in excessively bright colors to detract from the bleakness of the room. He smiled slightly at the thought, still trying to calm his nerves.
Nadler twiddled his thumbs, eager for Mikhail Walker to enter the room already. Minutes p

It has to be her. Sherry knows Claire and Claire is Chris’s sister and Leon says that Chris will respond best in the most comfortable situation possible and she’s going and she volunteered, damn it, so why does she feel so uncertain?
She glances at the hallway mirror as she tugs her fingers into her gloves. Her face is paler than usual and she narrows her eyes at her reflection, her mouth narrowing in what is meant to be a hard, determined line.
It looks more like a grimace.
“You’re going,” she tells herself loudly, turning face the mirror fully and putting her hands on her hips. “It’s decided; you’re going.”
She hears his chuckle from the other room, soft and mocking. He clicks the door open and slouches around the corner, grinning at her.
“Having second thoughts?”
Her bottom lip sticks out when she's irritated and it's sticking out now. “Jake Muller, you shut your mouth.”

"I'm not surprised," Sherry says conversationally, addressing Jake at breakfast and ignoring the way his foot is bumping against hers from underneath the table. "He blacked out just after the explosion, so it's understandable that he'd be worried. It took them a while to convince him of where he was. For the first few minutes, the arm hurt so badly that he was convinced he'd been sent to hell. Can you imagine waking up like that?"
Jake's toes slide up her ankle; she kicks at his foot in irritation. "Are you even listening to me?"
"Huh?" says Jake, and she gives up.
The hospital staff has Chris's phone number; he doesn't remember leaving it with them, but he figures Sherry arranged it. They call him the day after Piers wakes up and that's how he finds out.
He thinks about going but he doesn't remember which highway exit Sherry took when they visited last, so he stays at home. He thinks about cleaning up but he d

"Thank god you're here," is the second. "There's been a development- not the good kind."
Oh, no. Sherry's stomach clenches. "What's the matter? Is he okay?"
"I'm so sorry," the nurse says. "The infection in the arm has started to spread again."
"What?" Sherry stands on her tip-toes and leans over the counter, gripping it tightly. "That can't be; I thought the doctor said that they'd stopped the virus."
Sherry whirls around to see the doctor, hands shoved into her lab coat pockets and her expression sympathetic. "Especially in cases like these," she finishes. "You of all people should know that, Ms. Birkin."
She would bristle if she was a less collected woman, but Sherry holds her ground, arms crossed and tone sharp. "You said everything was fine. You said he was a go."
But the doctor can only provide her condolences. "This isn't

The truck screeches to a halt and he jumps out, slamming the door behind him, flashlight in one hand. He scans the lot, breath coming short. “Piers?” he shouts, flipping the flashlight on and sweeping it across the blacktop. “Piers!”
There’s no answer. Nothing but the squeal of a second set of tires as another car pulls up next to Chris’s truck. Jake slides out of the front seat, expression set.
“Jake.” Chris had called him, not knowing who else to go to, and had managed to explain everything with frantic, rushed fragments of sentences and shaky words. He’d been relieved to find that Jake hadn’t been involved in the scheme- Sherry hadn’t ever talked about it, thank god. “Thanks for coming,” he says.
“Don’t mention it.” Jake’s eyes move over the dark corners of the lot. “He’s a good gu

A piece of glass drops onto the plate, staining the area around it with red. Sherry doesn’t even pause, holding the tweezers deliberately and pressing her fingers gently against his arm. The rubber gloves are cold against his skin and the metal of the tweezers are colder.
“It’s all right,” she says for the tenth time.
Chris winces as she finds and removes another glass shard. “Jeeze,” he mutters. “You’re sure calm about all of this.”
She cracks a small smile at that, her eyes brightening. “Chris, I live with Jake. He can’t keep himself out of trouble for three days.”
Chris feels disappointment well up inside of him. “He’s still working as a mercenary, then? I…I’d kinda hoped the kid had given it up.”
Sherry shakes her head. “That’s not what I meant,” she says apologetically, letting out a soft laugh. &

Sherry faces Chris, hands on her hips. “I want Piers to move in with you.”
Chris shakes his head, dizzyingly fast. “Uh-uh. No. I- I can’t.”
“Why?” she asks. “You think you won’t be able to take care of him? Because you know better than anyone how stubborn he is- he’ll try to do everything by himself, even if you offer otherwise.”
“I’m not a doctor,” he says.
“Neither am I,” Sherry soothes. “You don’t have to be anything other than yourself, Chris. All I’m asking is for you to be his friend.”
The ex-Captain laughs harshly. “I doubt he wants me to be his friend, Sherry. You know the way he reacted back at the hospital.”
But she also knows the way he reacts when he hears Chris’s voice from over the phone, and the way his face contorts when he realizes that Chris has only called to talk to Sherry.

Jake has tried to call, tried to stop by, leaving voicemails- I can't find Sherry, have no lead on Piers, I'm freaking out here, Chris- pounding on the apartment door- god damn it, I know you're in there. Chris doesn't answer the phone, doesn't let him in- seeing Jake, talking to Jake would only remind him of what he's trying to forget.
So instead he spends it locked in his flat, drinking, smoking, watching the hours tick away on the clock. He watches cheap soap operas. Skips through ads and clicks through channels.
He's so, so tired.
And he always ends up pausing on one station.
"It's Rizzo, up to bat. Done well this season, a real asset for the team so far. Pitcher winds up...a little high, and that'll be 0 and 1. He'll go again...and- oh, man! That's up there, and- yes, it's outta here! Fantastic hit by Rizzo-"
Chris turns off the TV. Nine days, and he has no one to go with and no one to throw to.
So he does what he alway

She held her breath, then exhaled. It came out jagged, clearly the woman was close to tears. She inhaled sharply, then held it in until it hurt, then let it out again. A breathing technique she developed to stop her from crying. It worked- most of the time, anyway.
She kneeled down, touching the gravestone delicately. She wore a long sleeved black T-shirt with a gray, sleeveless jacket over top of it, the inside soft and fluffy. She matched it with a pair of worn jeans. They were faded and had holes on them, but she didn't care. She never wore bright colors on days like these.
The sound of rough footsteps was behind her, but she didn't move, didn't look away.

Wesker growled in agony and anger as he stumbled backwards. Chris and Sheva kept their eyes on him, as well as their aim. The rock beneath them started to shake as the lava bubbled, causing all three of them to lose their balance.
A piece of the rock under Wesker broke off, then it became too weak to support his weight, and split into smaller pieces. As a result, Wesker tumbled into the lava, his screams heightening.
The sound of helicopter blades overhead caused the B.S.A.A. agents to look up. As predicted, a helicopter was flying above them. They could just barely see Josh Stone staring at them through the cockpit, and Jill Valentine in the back.
Relief fell over Chris, seeing the beautiful newly-blonde h

"I'm cold," Jill shivered, rubbing her hands up and down her arms to create warmth, a useless action. She moved closer to the fireplace which gave off little heat.
"I am, too," Chris agreed, zipping his green winter jacket all the way up.
"How long until they come back?" She questioned, her breath visible, coming out of her mouth like feather-light clouds.
"Don't know," He sighed.

Jill Valentine's Apartment
Raccoon City, USA
The door slamming echoed in the quiet room as Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine entered the apartment. They got just back from the Raccoon City Hospital, doing dozens of blood tests and checkups. Immediately after walking into the room, they crashed on the couch, exhausted.
"I can't believe any of that just happened," Jill muttered, sadness in her voice.
Chris sighed, "Neither can I."
The night before, the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team went looking for their comrades from Bravo Team after losing contact with them. They fled into a mansion, discovered countless monsters and zombies, and found out the truth about the Umbrella Corporation and their captain, Albert Wesker.

Chris Redfield was not a man of romance; he always believed it was better to speak feelings honestly rather than in a slur of poetics. But regardless, he found it hard for him in practice. Acts of romance, such as a knight saving the young princess, seemed useless to him; on the other hand, he was better at showing his love through actions when words failed him. Although he didn't see it as truly romantic, Jill believed so, commending the effort above all.
But with Jill, Chris always made a point to show his feelings, verbally and physically alike. It started out when they were merely partners, giving each other grate

Sleeping peacefully, Chris's arm was draped gently over the warm body of Jill, who was also under of the veil of sleep. She breathed slowly, steadily, which gave comfort to him.
Chris slowly moved his hand to reach for hers, moving slowly to prevent waking her up. He tangled his fingers with hers, nestling in closer, his face brushing against her neck. He sighed as he breathed in her natural scent- flowery with a slight spice to it.
After a few moments without movement, Jill started to wake. She felt his presence before opening her eyes, basking in how tingly it felt to be so close to him finally.
Several months ago, Jill returned home from Africa in a completely devastated state. She pushed away most of the people who tried to hel

Jill's cell phone rang, the simple ringtone blasting throughout her small room. Jill, annoyed and still tired, got out of bed and found her phone. The caller ID displayed a collection of numbers that Jill knew by heart, and her heart swelled thinking about what the caller wanted.
"Hello?" She pretended she didn't know who was calling.
"Hey, Jill. It's me."
"What do you want, Chris?" Jill feigned annoyance, but in her head was happy to hear his voice. Chris Redfield sat alone in the vacant office, busy finishing his report. It was early in the night shift, not quite 10 P.M., but it was unusually silent. A few of the regular cops were downstairs, and the other two S.T.A.R.S. members were busy. Joseph Frost was getting coffee, and possibly flirting with one of female cops like he normally did. Jill Valentine, Chris's partner and best friend, excused herself to take a phone call about ten minutes ago. He silently wondered what she was up to and if everything was okay.
Jill... He stared over at her desk instinctively- it became a habit. Truthfully, he couldn't keep his eyes off of her.

Chris felt like there was an empty void where Jill used to be, and he couldn't fill it with the comforting words of his friends and family. Jill was gone, there was nothing left for him. He sighed, and couldn't help but think about everything they went through- starting with that horrid disaster in the Arklay Mountains, and everything between then and now- they practically went through Heaven and Hell together, though mostly through Hell.

Somewhere in Europe...
It had been months since the last time Jill had seen Chris. A little bit before the Raccoon City Incident, Jill chose to remain in the corrupted city to investigate a facility underneath it, while Chris, along with Barry and Rebecca, chose to investigate Umbrella's European Headquarters.
A lot happened during that time. Jill hadn't discovered anything useful, and just as she was preparing to leave to meet up with them, there were reports of zombies in the city. Jill stayed longer to help usher civilians out of the city, rescuing a handful of people while waiting for the rescue the government promised, yet it never came. Jill decided to make her way out of the city, but ran into a few U.B.C.S. members, working with Carlos Oliveira to get out. Worse ye
