Lunar ChanceRoll the die, toss its twin,Lunar Chance in Free Verse More Like This
Never call the chance a sin;
A perfect lie, coincidence,
In ever-random occurrence.
The night rolls on, wasted by sleep,
As I lie awake, counting sheep;
Stars appear before the eyes,
And a moon who, silent, cries:
"Dance with me! I don't bite,
Or disappear just out of spite!
This dark time is ours to use;
Why, oh why, do you yet snooze?"
And up we fly on currents cool,
To use this chance the only rule;
We tango, we twist, we dive and dip,
Then bow to the stars, hip by hip.
She turns to me, then, and inquires,
"Need you a berth in which to retire?"
I nod, and Moon shifts to crescent form;
In her curve I laid, tired and worn.
Moon carried me unto the scarlet rise.
I woke to see her soft, silvery eyes
Imploring me one night to dance again,
Though as we agreed, who could say when?
Durm and StrangThere's a rush in the distance. You see it in the trees, in the fields, and in the trash scattered in the parking lot, dancing madly as the wind rides along, and then it hits you, almost unbalances you. Then it's all crazy; you look up to see green clouds, listen and hear a whistling scream coming from the stone building behind you, smell the dampness that precedes rain, feel the air slipping over your skin. The clouds flash intermittently, and the air rumbles as if hungry. An undertone reaches your ears, the clamor of wind chimes and the clanging of a flagpole's clip beating it incessantly, seeming panicked. And when the darkness is complete, the hiss begins, distant at first, then rising as it rushes forward, a charging battalion intent on drenching the earth.Durm and Strang in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This

Well, maybe not as such. What was it? That I forgot myself? That I got lost within, abandoning reality in search of a place where I could be so much more?
Might be it.
Time ran away and the location lost its grip reality itself became tentative, at best. It was easy. As if that was all it took all along.
What went wrong?
I came back. Expectations, necessities, stereotypes, biases, perspectives (or a lack thereof), politics other people all flooded in, restoring the pain the bliss had numbed.
Damn you? No.

Broken only by the light

The story of her struggle, is understandable by anyone affected by perfection.

And the pain that comes from becoming what you shouldn’t,
Becoming the monster they unknowingly turn you into.

Somehow I must get the patience,

"It's time," Marth had released her hand, stood up and moved away from her. He was peering out into the distance, his voice strained, "I have to return home," he looked back toward her, his eyes piercing, "and I want you to join me."
"What?!" she couldn't believe what she had just heard.
"I can treat you like the princess that you are. What can he do for you? What can he provide? He's a drifter with no roots, no future and no past. He leaves you here, alone. Any man who would walk away from you is a fool. I am no fool. I don't want to leave you here. I will not leave you," his eyes assured her of his conviction.

Marth shouldered his way through the crowd, breaking through a small opening between the tightly-packed market goers. He clutched a small bag under his arm and darted forward with a fleeting glance over his back.
"Someone stop him!" the call rang out.
Marth turned his eyes ahead, concentrating so intently on the voices behind him that he didn't notice the muscled figure in green ram into him until he had hit the ground. He reeled, all breath knocked from his body, and the stolen bag knocked from his hands.
"Is this the thief?"
Marth squinted up at Link, who towered over him with a look of intense, quiet fury on his face.
"That's him!" a bystander called. "I saw the whole thing!"
"Move aside!" Three armored guards shoved their way through, spears bared.
"On your feet!" The head guard grasped Marth by the collar and pulled him to his feet. "What's the meaning of this, wretch?"

A special thank you goes out to our lovely mods, ~Melancholy-Minds and ~Twilight-Zero!
Please be aware that we do our best to get as many questions answered as possible, however, if we do not choose your question to send to the artist, please do not be offended. I don't care if it ends up hurting me.
Just so long as I have these moments of happiness.
Surrounded by friends.
Vaguely listening to the hum of quiet chatter.
Gazing up at the stars.
Feeling someone's hand twitch in mine.
Sharing warmth when the air suddenly seems cold.
That's what makes me happy.
Though I know what will happen.
I wait for the relapse, the repetition of the past.
And I am selfish, because I know it will happen.
But I refuse to care about any of this.
I will not think about the damage, the change in attitude.
All I want is the temporary happiness.
The warmth from someone else's skin.
Sharing a gaze, a smile, a quiet laugh.
The feeling of not being alone in the world.
I don't care about anything else.
I am conceited.
And I will be content with taking what little happiness I can steal.
Even if it does hurt me.

Be careful not to look this way- something might catch your eye. Maybe something glitters in an unseen light, or maybe you can see below the surface with just one glance. What is it you see there that draws you in so?
Don't come any closer...
Is it the blank deadness upon my face that makes you stare in wonder? Surely you've seen it before; I am certainly not the only sufferer in this world. I am not the only person who is subjected to constant internal chaos.
I need this space to breathe...
The hunched-over posture, I know, is a sign of weakness. It is one that I will willingly wear, as a sign to others that I am defeated. I am waving a white flag to the world; I surrender to the bitterness.
Be wary of my gaze...
Can you see something hidden in my eyes? What is it that you have found there? You shouldn't have come this close. You should avert your gaze and walk away, because there is nothing worth staying this close for.

This morning, I awoke at an hour unnatural for me. There was no alarm or any other form of noise to cause me to wake, just a chemical process in my utterly average brain. It gave me a feeling of unease so strong that it brought me back to consciousness.
I opened my eyes to the usual view; tallboy made from cedar coloured wood, peach curtains that opposed the sickly green walls, laptop peaking over the bed's horizon as it rests on a make-shift stand. This has been the usual view for eleven days, the only thing having changed being the inclusion of the laptop. Not to mention that if I turned to my other side, there was a different view also. But that's beside the point. This one was the particular one I woke to.
I took in shallow breaths that were induced by sleep. I felt as though my heart should be racing, though it thrummed merely with gentle, even beats. My stomach showed the appropriate reaction to the vision my mind had conjured up; it churned uncomfortably withi
ToonZ - The Gift of Christmas chp 16The next day, Bugs, Mickey and the children were up earlier than dawn to pick up the Chipmunks at their hotel in order to begin putting things together for Friday, the chosen date for filming. Arriving at the hotel, the Toons found that the Seville Brothers had stayed up nearly all night writing the music for the new song, once again blowing Mickey away in amazement; he had not expected them to get even a third of the music written by morning.ToonZ - The Gift of Christmas chp 16 in General Fiction More Like This

“Mickey,” Minnie whispered the second night, as my absence from bed woke her. She turned on her lamp and looked at me as I paced back and forth in the room. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she added, “Why are you still up?”

Are the words that we carve from experience,
Taken as less than a general phrase of emotion?
...No, I would hope not.
For I do as any other might,
And my skeletons are kept under lock and key.
For a secret displayed remains secret no longer;
Merely a gossip's fancy.
