As we trekked down the dark tunnels of the subway, the only sounds the crunching of gravel under our feet, I couldn't help but feel ridiculous wearing the clunky armor Yuki gave me. A black bullet-proof vest that was a bit too big a size for me hung onto my shoulders, giving me the feeling of walking in quick-sand. Why did we need these anyway? People weren't gonna be shooting at us, after all. They also made us come with some form of mask, like a doctor's surgery mask, or even some gas masks. If they didn't have eye-covers already, then you'd get goggles. For me, I got the doctor's mask and a pair of plastic goggles.
It was strange, because I was constantly told that we weren't allowed to bring guns. Despite the large stock-pile, I thought it wouldn't be a problem.
"Noise attracts them," Yuki told me back when she fitted me with the vest. "We don't wanna go parading down the streets, guns blazing at anything we can hit. We need to get in, then ou
Bloodied Air - Part 5 [A Dead Space Fanfic]Lights gradually flickered to life throughout the large room, not doing much to illuminate my surroundings at all. At the least, I still had to rely on my LED light for most of the visuals, but it didn’t have excellent range. The lighting in the area was most likely triggered from my movements seeing as how right as I stepped into the area, they activated. They did so in a sequence until reaching the end of a long, large tunnel. With the shit I had been through thus far, big areas didn’t exactly do well with me at the time.Bloodied Air - Part 5 [A Dead Space Fanfic] in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
With a shaky breath and a quick shake of my shoulders, I advanced. Of course, I made sure to check my surroundings first when jumping off of the platform. Thankfully, the room was empty and all was quiet, save for the screeching I had heard not moments ago. In fact, when I silently drifted across the room, I thought I heard it again, only this time accompanied by distant bangs. Upon turning to its direction, I also became aware of a small hole on one sid

Carelessly flipping myself over against the wall of the small compartment, I caught the sight of Sifty’s helmet shifting and collapsing back into his RIG. The sound of the machinery clicking and sliding were the only sounds in the room besides the heavy breathing coming from inside of my helmet, and now from my new companion’s open one.
“Sorry, boys…” Sift spoke somewhat exasperated. “It’s been a while since I’ve done that.”
I would have simply brushed the comment as nothing, but as I thought about it, the words slowly began to make sense in my adrenaline-filled mind. “…What?” I questioned, turning to him. “What d’you mean by ‘done that?’ Have you seen these t

AuburnThe sound of boots tapping against the dirtied concrete echoed throughout the alleyway. A lone figure passed between the two city buildings, making their way briskly across, arms resting in their pockets. The streetlamps from either end of the alley provided for minimal light; their glow only reaching so far into the dark hallway. Unaffected by the dark atmosphere, the figure continued a stride, fearless despite the circumstances.Auburn in Short Stories More Like This
For a chilly night, the stranger barely cared; over their tight fitting tank-top, merely throwing on a burgundy-colored overcoat that reached down to their thighs. A pair of jeans wrapped fairly loosely around their legs, only to be tucked into their knee-high boots. Despite the low lighting, it seemed the figure's soft hair was still slightly reflecting whatever light was still left in the darkness, almost like a burning flame. Their eyes did the same, as if they, too, were glowing. If one were to look at the figure in such low-lit conditions, it would still
Breach: Season 2 - Part VIThe flower-painted wallpaper walls, littered with bullets, sent dust shifting slowly through the air, settling on the ground. The once perfectly made bed, now sheets and pillows ripped to shreds, sits collecting dust. Passed the intact doorway, sits a shredded, tan sofa, bits of cotton and fabric strewn across it's surface. Against it once laid a pair of tattered crutches, now lying on the ground among the dust. With the dust and crutches is a small, white bottle of pills, cap closed but empty. The nightstand, crooked and punctured with holes, steadily remains still, looking elegant but dead at the same time. Suddenly, a thundering Boom! shook the building and echoed across the street, right next to the building.Breach: Season 2 - Part VI in Short Stories More Like This

My descent from the ceiling vent could have been more graceful, but after another hard collapse inside a heavy metal suit and after all I had been through, a good rest seemed well-deserved. With a sore body and a nauseous stomach, I lay there on the ground as my new companion was already on her feet. Through the dizzy stars in my eyes, I could barely make out her form opening her RIG. Unfortunately, the mixture of blood splattered on my mask and the condensation from my breathing didn’t give me a clear view on what exactly she was doing. Though I did make out something; a hologram of a RIG… my RIG.

I couldn’t catch much of the figure, only four blinding blue lights and another white one below them. They somewhat seemed to bob up and down as the figure breathed. The shadow behind it I could only notice had a rig, yet no helmet on. As to what details he had on his suit, I still couldn’t quite discern.
“Alright, who the Hell are you then?!” The man questioned demandingly. He seemed to be very authoritative, deep voice cutting through the air harshly. “And why were you bursting through my vent hatch?”
My hands remained covering my face. “Who am I? Do we really need to know that now?!” I asked confusedly, wondering why this guy would want to make friends at a time like this. He didn’t budge, however, and continued to aim—what I could only assume was—his gun at my

Vexatious nightmares of doubt still haunt as I am unsure of what to do.
I wish it would all disappear, and love swathe me like once before.
Dark whispers of untrue love surround me until I am thrown into the dark.
Hidden, unheard, and broken, I feel forlorn.
The unbearable heart breaking memories of the past drag me farther into the dark.
A mask to conceal all agony, and a weapon of the love within my heart.
Friends and foes so hard to decipher and defeat, I lay all weapons down.
Surrendering to everything, I fall off the edge into the dark.
Pit of pain where I sit.
All feelings are lost, emotion intensified.
Trying to not break, to stay strong
I lay in the dark.
Isolated, no one hears my cries as silent tears fall.
Vile taste rising in my throat, heart beat quickening.
Each beat with more pain, stomach twisting into infinite knots.
Eyes close, sobs wrack my body, uneasy breathing.

“Oh, my papa gave it to me. Do you like it?”
“Why, yes! May I see it?”
The Lapin wasn’t sure if that was a good idea, but she foolishly handed him the hat. He seemed like a very friendly man. However, she was terribly wrong.
She stumbled now, losing the precision on her cartwheels. An

I say once because she no longer exists. Before, she was invisible. No one could see her but her other invisible friend. They laughed, sang, danced, and ran. No one was able to see the invisible girls, but they did not care. As long as they could see each other, that was all that mattered.
But one day, the girl's friend became visible. All the other visible boys and girls recognized her, and welcome her to their world. They told her that she was pretty, and it was a shame they never seen her before. The girl was now Ashlynn, who had brown hair, and golden eyes.
However, the other girl was left alone in her little invisible world. She cried out to her friend, desperately trying to bring her back to their sanctuary.
"Stop! They will hurt you!" She shouted.
Her voice was drowned out by their noise.
They did not hear anything.
She looked down at her palms, which were barely flesh and bone. Her body was fading away. Dissolving into the atmosphere. Turning into a shade

“Popped corn!” A peddler called, “Get your fresh popped corn!”
People chattered excitedly and waited for the famous magician to dazzle the crowd. Sven felt his watch tingle in his pocket pulled it out discreetly.
“Iris?” He said.
The watch ceased when he opened it, and nothing happened. Sven didn’t think too much of it because the magician finally waltz to the center of the stage.
“Ladies! Gentleman! And beloved children! Welcome to Antoine the Great’s Magic Show! Hold onto your socks because this will be a truly a night you will never forget!” He announced.
His long and lanky legs stood straight as he pulled out a deck of cards.
He shuffled them, and they began sliding out on their own around the

"It’s too cold to be outside.” Sven muttered, while shuddering from the frosty breeze.
He rubbed his hands together as he silently cursed himself. It was stupid that he was out at this time of the night. He could have been in bed dreaming of better things. The thought of returning home and drinking a hot cup of cocoa sounded much more appealing, but he was there for a reason.
Wait, why was he there?
“Oh yeah…” he whispered.
A few days ago, he found a strange note in his pants pocket. It had no signature of the writer, and the handwriting was barely legible. The only thing Sven could make out of the letters was the date, time, and location: 12/13 at 11:59 – Aislinville Park.
At first, he was skeptical. How did the note ever get in his pocket? He tried to recall any direct contact when someone could have slipped it there, but nothing came to mind. Curiosity had the best of him, so there he was standing in the bitter cold, waiting for h

A smile formed on her lips. Not of anger, surprise, sadness or joy, but a smile with lost meaning.

It wasn't a show that she loves or hates. It wasn't interesting or boring, either.
It was just a show.

Wind howled in his ears and he squeezed his eyes shut, braces for impact. But instead of a rough landing, he rolled down a very large grassy hill. He tried gripping into the soft earth but gravity continued to pull him down.
Then finally, the hill smoothed out, allowing him to halt.
“That wasn’t expected.” He said as he stood to his feet.
He checked his himself for any wounds or scratches. But he gasped when he felt something at the top of his head: furry ears.
Sven turned around and found a bushy auburn colored fox tail swaying from his rear.
“No way…!” He breathed.
He then reached in his pocket to find the watch that was given to him by Iris. At first, he was going to open to contact her, but he decided against it. He couldn’t depend on Iris all the time. Sven was very capable of himself. Instead, he decided to look for food to calm his now grumbling stomach.

Sven was lying on the cold marble ground, completely paralyzed. He tasted a sickly sweet taste in his mouth and his mind was slowly regaining its strength.
Directly in front of him was a diamond throne that glistened in the powerfully bright lights. Sitting upon the throne was a woman with snow white hair that delicately rolled down her shoulders. Her dress was like silver silk and sparkled along with the beautiful wings on her back that fluttered ever so often. Her lips were curved to a gentle smile as she watched Sven struggling.
“Please, do not tire yourself out. You will regain control gradually.” She said with her bell like voice.
“My name is Iris, the guardian of Elarias. Listen to me, Sven, before you make your choice. Your decision will create either peace, or complete chaos. The sand is trickling to the bottom, so I shall do my best to be hasty. A powerful evil has clouded Elarias. It has been choking my people
Ocean on his Shoulders | Chapter 9~I threw the auto diary down and started pacing. I half expected the young girls voice to buzz to life through the radio's speakers,or at least the mans, but it just kept it's normal low hum of static. The last I had heard from the girl was her terrified screams, followed by gunfire. She MEANT something, she was special, too special for this to happen.Ocean on his Shoulders | Chapter 9~ in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
''She's just some girl kid...get a hold of myself.'' Atlas growled. He was leaning against the wall, casting evil glares at the radio. As if it came alive with her voice, he would destroy it more then I already had.
''Just some girl?! She MEANS something! She's more then just any ordinary girl...'' I snapped back, spinning to face him.
Atlas looked slightly shocked, ''What makes you think that? What in the world tells you that she "MEANS" something?''
I stared at him for a moment. I honestly didn't know, it was just something about her that told me. I couldn't explain it, it was so strange. ''I..I don't know...'' I answered quietly.
Ocean on his Shoulders | Chapter 7~"No, this city was built because one man BELIEVED. He believed that he could make a grand city, where we could find peace. But what did we find? We found certain death, nothing but murder and hatred down here. I stared at the small radio in my hand in shock. Everything that man had just said was true, but it got me wondering, could he still be alive? And if he was, was it still his mission on keeping this city hidden? I shook my head slightly and clipped the radio to my belt. The smell of dead fish hit my nose again as I looked around the plaza.
''Surprising, ain't it?'' I spun to the voice and spotted Atlas leaning against the wall. He had a humored grin spread across his face as he flipped his knife in the air and caught it smoothly.
I ignored his mocking gaze and shook my head, ''It is a bit.'' I admitted.
Atlas pulled out a small bag and tossed it to me, ''Look inside.''
I grabbed the bag and o

Is it just Rapture?
Or is it bigger, this world?

''Quick! Find something to block this door, I can't hold it much longer!'' I yelled over the banging.
Leslie looked around and spotted a desk in the corner of the room, ''Nikki, help me with this!'' She yelled and ran over to the desk.
Nikki nodded and joined her. Together they pushed the desk over to me. I quickly jumped out of the way and helped them push the desk firmly against the door. We all stood back and watched the desk, half expecting it to get jerked out of the way. But it stayed firmly in place.
I let out a sigh of relief and turned to Nikki and Leslie, ''Everyone alrig

That's what all these old fools say,
Their hearts swollen with false wisdom,
They think they speak the Confucian truth;
Words that liveon; a timeless idiom.
They think they speak the truth-
And that their reasoning is clear-
If one had loved but once alone
They could cherish that without fear.
If one had loved but just one time
Then surely, 'twould not hurt;
After all, it's in the past
And your first love is never made
With an idea that it might last.
You've barely really met eachother-
You can't know that much 'bout her-
There is nothing to connect you two,
So shut up, 'cos you can live without her.
But what if I told you that Time-
And reason, in fact, too-
Are irrelevant to me?
That they take
Second place when you compare them,
To this love that you spit and call fake?
You see, "The heart haveth reasons that
Even reason knoweth not,"
And these reasonless reasons:
They are what forces me to tear
Folly of the EternalÿþFolly of the Eternal:Folly of the Eternal in Free Verse More Like This
Ever has poor mankind struggled 'gainst Time,
Tried to dodge his sickle and duck his scythe,
To be cut down in the final moment,
By Death's eerie prescence, cold-reverent.
It's just a fact, you see, that we fear Death
At the last time we see, and at our last breath.
The idea of the Reaper fills us with fear,
And for good reason; he ends all we hold dear.
So it is that some men, with utterly crazed longing,
Crave immortality, or want their life prolonging,
For the simple fact that they are scared to die,
And meet at last Death and play dice with Time.
But I ask you, what to do if you live forever?
You could do anything, and it would end... never,
All the knowledge in the world would be yours for the taking,
And you'd have eternity for games, scheming and playing.
But what then? Why, you'd get rich! Make a fortune!
Work the stocks, just like your old daddy taught you!
Sure enough, you're just rolling in cash soon,
But what do you do now, with more threa

He had always been an astronomer, but back when he had his sight he was too preoccupied with trying to see the stars, rather than see them. At least, that had been what his gold-masked God had told him. So, in a fit of inscrutable knowledge, his God had torn his eyes out. It had been the most agonizing experience of his entire life, and it hurt even to think about it.
He could not, however, say that he had not been given any boon in return for his sacrifice. His God had seen fit to enhance his awareness of the heavens such that he could now sense the constellations as blazing lanterns of arcane light, by the intrinsic connection they had to the hearts and souls of all living th

Ponderings on MortalityAs we once were, so shall we be,Ponderings on Mortality in Free Verse More Like This
Our lives are as nothing, and yet they are key,
For once He has claimed us, what left shall there be,
When He has his fill, though we try to flee?
Who is "He" you ask, in your confused state,
He never gives a time and He never gives a date,
He is the culmination of our twisted fates,
But rest assured you shall meet Him, before it's too late.
Mortality, Death, call Him what you will,
His mere existance is good, yet His passage bodes ill,
He will drink deep of vitality, until He has His fill,
He is getting closer, He's coming in for the kill.
But Time is never sated, so forevermore he must lust,
After life 'twas once his, and more strength to crush,
But in the end he leaves with just a sad whisper to us,
"From ashes to ashes, and from dust to dust..."
