His father was standing at the end of the hallway, looking pale and worried to death. Paul closed the door, "George's. And don't start with me it's your own fault."
That made the old man furious, "Get.In.Here.Now."
Paul nodded slightly, following his father into the living room and sitting on the couch. Mr. McCartney looked angry, upset, worried, and a little nervous all at the same time. He glared at Paul, "Why did you leave?"
Paul frowned and sighed, knowing his anger wouldn't get him anywhere, "I left because you got me really upset...you wouldn't listen to me! A-And you were talking about Mum like she was still alive! And that hurts Dad!"
Jim stared at his son for a moment, unsure of what to say. He sighed a little, "Paul...I just don't know how to trust you...I mean, that boy...he kissed you.

"John! What on earth ?" Mimi asked in confusion as she came around the corner and saw Paul being carried in by her nephew.
"He got beat up," John said, "Thought it'd be a good idea to bring him in."
"Well, here, set him down on the couch," Mimi instructed.
John set Paul down on the couch and Paul moaned in pain.
"Go get me some ice, a wet towel, bandages, and tissues," she told John.
John rushed off and left Mimi to take care of the boy he'd beaten up.
"What's your name?" Mimi asked.
"Paul," the boy mumbled, "Paul McCartney."
"Who did this to you?" she inquired.
Paul thought about telling on John, but then thought against it.
"I dunno," Paul lied, "A gang of boys in leather."
"Were they John's friends?" Mimi asked.
Paul shrugged his shoulders, which hurt him very badly. Mimi inquired, "How'd John find you?"
"He came and shoved 'em off," Paul fibbed.
John came back into the room with the supplies Mimi had asked him to get. He handed everything to her, which she too

John walked past Strawberry Fields and heard some noises from the alleyway around the corner. He heard a yelp of pain. He knew it had come from Paul's mouth. John rushed around the corner and into the alleyway to see something he never thought he would see. Paul stood there, jabbing a switchblade into a teddy boy's chest. The boy fell to the ground, his breathing immediately ceasing. John stared at Paul, who hadn't noticed John standing there. Paul's mouth was wide open, gaping at the boy he'd just stabbed. John looked closer at the dead teddy boy and gasped as he realized who it was. Paul turned around and stared at John with wide eyes. John was furious for a moment, pushing past Paul to get a closer look at the body. John shook his head. He was right. It was Jack.
"What did you do?!" John shouted.
Paul looked scared out of his wits: scared of what John would do, scared of what would happen to him, and scared that what had just happened was real.

"So why are you here?" George asked, still sleepy and confused as to why his friends had shown up at his window at one in the morning.

"Yeah," George mumbled, "Sure. Just-Just don't make out or anything. I can't deal with queers this early in the morning."
Paul smirked, "We won't. John says it was just a prank. Nothing meant by it."
"Okay," George smiled, trudging to his closet and pulling out some extra blankets, "I'll go get some pillows from downstairs; be right back."
George walked from the room, yawning loudly.
"So you been to George's before Paulie?" John asked.
Paul nodded and snapped, "If you dare do anything while George is around, I'll kill ye."

"Did you get beat up again?" Mike giggled.
He was ignored as Mrs. McCartney rushed over to her elder son.

Paul frowned as he saw the sign on the building: "Wanton Prison". John was in there. John the "murderer". A whimper came up when he thought of what John had done for him. Paul sighed a bit and walked through the doors of the prison. He'd heard rumors about this prison; rumors that people were executed in that prison. Maybe he'd ask one of the policemen if that rumor was true. Every step Paul took towards the front desk he became more and more scared: scared for his safety, scared for John's safety, scared that he'd be found out. He didn't even realize he was at the front desk until the policeman sitting there frowned at him, murmuring, "Can I help you sir?"
Paul nodded a bit, unsure of what to say at first. He finally just ended up saying, quite nervously, "Um...I'm looking for Mr. Lennon, John Lennon, that is..."

His parents had asked about John earlier and George had just lied and told them Paul and John had climbed through the window that morning to talk and when John confessed he'd committed the murder, Peter had called the police after eavesdropping on them. This was all true, except for the fact that Paul had committed the murder, not John.
"I still can't believe he did it..."
"I know Paul. Let's just...not talk about it okay?"
It was silent for a bit, the only sound heard was Mrs. Harrison bustling around downstairs in the kitchen, clearing up after lunch, which Paul had unwillingly agreed to stay for. George looked at Paul, who was still shaking slightly from the notion that he himself could have gone to jail if it hadn't been for John. George sighed and got up, going to sit

The teacher refused to give John any more attention, so he ignored John and continued with his lesson. But John Lennon wasn't about to be forgotten. He'd been forgotten all his life. There was no way he'd let that stupid teacher at the front of the classroom forget about him.
John watched as the teacher excused himself for a moment, slipping out the door quietly. John stood, all eyes on him, and walked to the board. If the teacher wasn't up to teaching at the moment, who better to teach than John Lennon himself?

7 Suggestions for Crafting your Story's Monster7 Suggestions for Crafting your Story's Monster7 Suggestions for Crafting your Story's Monster in Reviews & Guides More Like This
Recently, I wrote an article about creating a story villain/antagonist, and focused a lot on how this was different from creating a “monster.” Today, I'm going to talk about monsters, how to create them, and how to use them efficiently. Please note that I am not talking about monsters as a designation of species (like Monsters Inc), but as a literary device.
Suggestion 1: Know how a monster differs from a beast or a villain.
Monsters have their own place in the fiction genre—completely separate from such antagonist forces as “villains” or “beasts”. Unlike a villain, a monster has no shred of humanity in it—even if it once was a human (like Freddy Kreuger). And unlike a beast, a monster is not part of the healthy ecosystem of your world. It is not part of the “circle of life” (even the more predatory parts), but a force of destruction.
Suggestion 2: Your monster should be more pow

While I didn't know it, my first work was loosely a fan-fiction of Jurassic Park. Most of us, perhaps all, become writers because at some point of our life we fell deeply in love with a story. Today, I'm going to talk about how we can make fan-stories serve us as best as possible. Please note that while fan-fiction is included in this segment, I will be using the term “fan-writing” to also include original stories with original characters that closel

A story is only as good as its villain. And while the antagonist of your story does not have to be a “villain,” they do have to live up to certain reader expectations if you want your story to be of any merit. So here are the top 5 qualities that readers want and need to see in your story's villain.
Quality 1: Your villain should be a dynamic, true-to-life character.
Remember, we are talking villains here, not monsters. And unlike a monster, a villain should be a person. This means that no matter what race, gender, or even species, your audience should be able to empathize on a certain level with them. Doing so makes the story feel real, and creates complex emotions for the audience as well as the hero.
Quality 2: Your villain should be more powerful than the hero.
This does not mean that you villain has to be stronger in every way. I means that the villain should have something that gives them a distinct edge over the

After writing my first novel, I gave it to my writing instructor so that he could see what I needed to improve. This process took a long time... a very long time; and so I decided that the only thing to do was to work on a second (and then third) novel before I got the first one back. The result? The two first drafts that I created were, by far, better than the eighth draft of my original novel, and my skills increased through writing and editing them, more than through the entire process of writing my first novel. Today, I'm going to explain why this happened, and make a case for why all beginning writers should write a second novel before

Today, I will conclude the trio of character types that I started with Villains and Antiheroes, by discussing what readers want from your story's Hero. Please note that I am speaking specifically about a heroic protagonist, not just any protagonist for any sort of story. Also remember that it could be the case that a story is about the protagonist BECOMING the hero. In this case, the story should be about learning or gaining these traits as they make mistakes, try to grow, and move towards their goal.
Trait 1: Ideals that set them apart from the world. (Dumbledore)
The first thing that should set your hero apart from the world, is not any sort of power or ability, it is an ideal. Any realistic world contains many good people within it. This means that anyone who surpasses that level of good, must have a worldview that challenges the level of goodness already present.
Trait 2: A drive to push them to change the world. (Kick-ass)

It seemed it didn’t work anymore, but it would help if she needed to move faster around the room. Marion looked at the others walls there weren’t many places where she could grab an edge, she contemplate them, they were of a thick bullet proof glass, all black to her perspective, but she bet that on the other side she could watch what was happening on the theater just fine. Marion pressed her hands against her face as she remembered what had she done. What if she had actually killed her? Had she? Had she killed One? She knew that having a number represented several things among them recognition for the skill that a Big Sister had, who strong she was and her usefulness toward the Family. Being closer to the first seven number usually gave the Big Sister a better post to guard and in some occasions the opportunity to help out directly Dr. Lamb, which had always been consider as an honor. I make my way down the cell block, towards the room where all those caged animals are supposed to be.
As I do I keep looking around for anything to use as a weapon. A dropped gun from one of the guards. An axe that might be kept for fire safety. Hell a fountain pen would be something at least. I see the scanner door is broken so that it’s still open, realizing at least I’m not completely trapped in this place.
I finally reach the room and I’m glad to see those maniacs are still caged. Not so glad that they’ve become so excited that all of them are pointing, snarling, reaching and even laughing at me once I’m inside. I can see a guard, dead, lying on the ground near one of the cages. I can see his face but given there’s blood coming from near it I assume his throat was slit.
I look to the door and walk over all the way through it and too the scanner door leading out. I thank God the scanner’s still working, as it passes it

Dr. Myers and I keep walking down the corridor towards the surgery room.
The hallway is cluttered with more supplies like wheelchairs, desks, gurneys, computer equipment and even torn down pictures of Warden Sharp. I notice there are lots of them throughout both all the buildings I’ve been in tonight, making me think this guy is really full of himself. I’m still holding my wound despite the bandage around it. It’s a little damp.
I see a sign ahead saying “Sanatorium” on the wall ahead, along with a small arrow pointing left. I assume that’s the room we’re going into next since we need to turn left at the end of the corridor. Once we do there are a set of stairs leading up towards the door, next to a smooth ramp coming from another corridor and leading to the door. We walk up with enough ease before opening the door, letting me fully see the Sanatorium.

Welcome to the Madhouse

In case you’re wondering, I’m just a twenty two year old skinny little nobody, with blonde hair reaching to my shoulders, green eyes, and the worst case of bad luck you might have ever heard of.
You want to know my story, right? What it was like for me before tonight? I tell you, but to be honest I wish I was back in that hell then in the actual thing itself.
My father was a prominent business man, here in Gotham City. Had our own personal shares in some of the major industries. I even remember him saying how he’d have meetings with men like Bruce Wayne. Of all people. Heard he was a pretty decent guy, even after coming back from some big trip that took him years to

It’s similar to the tunnel leading from Arkham North to West, with the paved road and all, put the walls and concrete seem much more older, most likely one of the few standing relics of how the Asylum used to be when it was first built.

I can even see some walking around and talking to themselves or talking to what I can see are dead bodies of guards that are lying on the ground here-and-there. I feel sorry for them, thinking they probably have no real idea what’s going on around them. Just like Maxie. Sweet Dreams - L4D2 NELLIS SHORT STORY"Yew awake, Nick?" A familiar voice echoed in Nick's ears. Gradually his eyes adjusted to the dim light, and were able to strain his focus on the young Georgian man that lay beside him. "Er, Nick?" Ellis repeated, in a soft tone. The conman exhaled heavily. Each time he slept, he hoped to awake to a different life. His opportunism had ran dry long ago, and even the concept of sleeping became meaningless. The dreams that had pacified him now haunted him. Every piercing screech, every bone crushing crack, every gasp of a dying breath all repeated and replayed whilst he slept. Each time he awoke, he relived those horrors.
"Mmh, yeah." He grumbled, carelessly squirming to face his lover. A faint comfort warmed him as their eyes lined up, and their cheeks momentarily brushed. As he scanned the hicks face,
Give Me A Sign [Nellis - L4D2]It was the early morning; the moon was still golden as it sat in centre stage of the sky, watching the earth below. Whilst most were still and sleeping, Nick had just pulled up in his vintage car at the front of the house. He could hear his watch ticking, as a predominant reminder of how time had so easily slipped by. He knew that Ellis would be tucked up in bed - without him. He hated knowing that his lover would have crawled up to bed, missing the warmth and rhythm of his heart; he always used the conman’s chest as his pillow. As Nick walked up to the house, he could see the night lamp shining through the crack of the curtains of their bedroom; he knew that the hick would have tried to stay up, despite the gamblers orders not to. But Ellis didn’t have the body clock to match the conman’s, so even with his best efforts, the gambler would always come home and find his Georgian lover out like a light.Give Me A Sign [Nellis - L4D2] in Romance More Like This

There was a reason for not letting Ellis come along grocery shopping. Amongst the hick's aggravating pleading and his pounding headache, Nick somehow managed to overlook those reasons, and allowed the kid to attend the store with him. Instantly, floods of regret drenched over him, as the hick bounced up and down, celebrating the fact he had annoyed the permission out of the older man. That childlike monster that lurked within his skeleton was on full form today. He could barely contain himself, his legs dancing all over the place, tempting Nick to put him on a leash.
"Goddamn it, Overalls." The conman groaned, watching the Georgian race towards the shopping carts. The older man's complaints usually fell on deaf ears when Ellis was around, as he was more than likely rambling on about something that was of complete disinterest to Nick.

The rouge sun shot glistening rays of light through the boarded up window, so all the dust dancing and swirling around the room could be seen. The sun would rise swiftly now dawn had broken, giving the infected the advantage of hunting down the survivors, which meant it was time for the four of them to move again. It was a struggle in itself trying to uncover a safe place to rest, and even more of a challenge for the conman to get time alone with Ellis.
The two survivors had been lucky so far in not being sussed out by the others, but Nick wondered how long this would last. He was sure that Rochelle was growing more and more suspicious, and she always interrogated the conman for his reasons behind sleeping next to Ellis, and if the opportunity allowed it, to sleep in another room with the hick. All the World is Waiting for the Sun - NellisIt was a truly beautiful sight that stole the breath from lungs. The sun had dipped into the horizon, injecting faint rouge steaks from the thick gathering of clouds. The downpour seemed to evolve so quickly; the rain began to dance delicately, seeping through every fibre and pore of the earth that it could reach. The tall trees of the forestry swayed and bowed gracefully as its partner, their leaves gushing and clasping to form a quiet song, comparable to ghostly whispers and shrilling whistles. The heavy pellets continued to fall, bouncing into the dips of the ground, forming small pools of water, each showcasing majestic ripples of colour. The rain was something that was usually ignored; avoided, even. Yet in the midst of all the blinding chaos the apocalypse had generated, the rain seemed a beautiful distraction. The two men could not deny the serenity it had invited.
