There’s something about the brilliant colors of the dying leaves of autumn that reflects the wonders and the sorrows of life. It’s as if by waking up each morning into this beautiful world of natural colors, we are being given our bittersweet reward for surviving another year on the planet. We are regaled with a brief seasonal ceremony of the turning of the leaves, nature’s gift for our eyes as a promise she will soon return after her yearly rest. And then it’s time to let winter’s grey pallor unfold over us in blankets of dark cold rain and bright brisk snows; we sleep, the autumn’s leaves having promised

DC puss out. While at my local comic-book emporium, I had a quick leaf through Harley Quinn #0 to check out the winning page from DC’s recent talent search.DC puss out. in Personal More Like This
It didn’t do much to dampen the disdain I harbour for the big-name comic companies.
For a start, I’m not sure how that page was selected as the cream of the crop. Bravo to the artist for being selected, sure, but there were far more dynamic, lively examples I saw posted here on DA, and I'm genuinely surprised that none of them were chosen. The page selected feels just as stiff, stagnant, sterile and devoid of life as much of the other stuff DC discharges onto the shelves (which might have been why they ran with it).
The main gripe I have, though, is that they changed the final panel.
For those that (somehow) missed the whoo-haa that the whole talent search kicked off: the script DC provided to their would-be artists called for illustrations depicting the titular Harley trying to off herself in a series of absurd ways: holding

Let's just go over what I posted yesterday: I voiced that I have no opinion on guns in America, because I don't live there and as such; don't care. I said that I, personally, am afraid of guns and think they're industrial killing machines. And I posed a vague, hypothetical question that could have been applied to any situation where an old law/doctrine is in effect.
That's it. Nothing more. Harshest word in there was "change" followed by a question mark. Not "ban", not "make guns illegal" and certainly not "outlaw free speech and trial by jury", which some people with a slightly looser grasp on reality seem to think go hand in hand with owning the firearms I said I don't care about.
Well, today, I am going to post an opinion: if you're the kind of insecure, paranoid little twit that flies off the handle when someone poses a simple question, and who holds weapons and the laws that permit them with such religious reverence that you perceive that question as not

There have been a few news articles to stoke my irritation over the last couple of months. First there was word that Thor of the Marvel universe was to become female, then there was a rumour James Bond was going to be recast with a black actor and now there are mumbles that the Spiderman who may/may not show up in the cinematic Marvel universe will be a black kid: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-31362800
Personally, I think all this crap is side-stepping the issue of diversity rather than addressing it. If the likes of Marvel were really serious about it, they’d invest time and capital creating new heroes who are a different gender/race from the get-go. Building up a new mythology for a female or black character would be so much str

This.... would have been a really crap thing to permanently sign out on.
The BBC obviously thought so, too, as in light of that story they asked their readers/listeners what they would like to hear played across the service, should doomsday occur.
Most responses were musical numbers, such as REM’s “It’s the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine)” and Queen’s “Don’t stop me now”, but other’s were a little more deranged, such as the final clip of a Warner Bros cartoon, with Porky Pig saying “That’s all folks!”.

Fandom NonsenseI'd like to start by saying that I think everyone has the right to like what they want to without someone telling them it sucks. just because you may think something is shitty, doesn't mean someone else does. if they like it and it makes them happy, it's really none of your fuckin business to put down what they like. not to mention it's a pointless waste of breath, they're still going to like it regardless.Fandom Nonsense in Personal More Like This
that being said, I'm sick and tired of fantards shoving their fandoms down my throat. just because you like something, doesn't mean I do. that's what gets to be the problem with most mainstream trends. not the trends themselves but the fans who ruin it. and not all of them mind you. but the stupid ones who give the normal human beings a bad name for being part of the same fandom.
the biggest most annoying problem is that half the people into these things are just into them BECAUSE it's popular. not because they actually enjoy it. I think a LOT of MLP fans are into the fandom and not

People ask me about what brushes do I use even more often than about me making tutorials. Unfortunately here I might help only Photoshop users as I've never used SAI or GIMP and my Corel Painter worked so unbelievably slow on my machine that recently I've simply uninstalled it.
To be honest, the brush I use most often is a simple round brush with tablet pressure controlling the opacity.
With that baby I paint almost everything starting from under-painting and ending on medium details. Yet, there are all sorts of different brushes I use for other things - hair, texturing, backgrounds, foliage and so on. Here are a few sets I have installed. I do not use every single brush from them and I've deleted most of them right after installation... sometimes leaving as much as 1-5 brushes from a set of 30. You can get rid of unwanted brushes by either using the preset manager in the brush menu panel or by cl
Tutorials and techniquesQuite a lot of people keep asking me for tutorials and to be honest I see no point in creating yet another strip on how to paint skin/clothes/light/carrots/whatever. Instead, I've decided to make a compilation of different tutorials and charts that I personally use to learn how to paint.
The most important thing you need to learn even before starting to read a tutorial is that all walk-throughs are meant for you to understand how things work. My point is that after reading and later practicing a tutorial called 'how to paint a glass duck' you should be able to paint not only a glass duck but also anything else made of glass. You should concentrate on understanding the rules and patterns instead of trying to copy what you see on the image. Otherwise you'll end up knowing how to paint only a few things from only one perspective and one lightning pattern.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere of the game, the very unique gameplay mechanic, and that slightly creeping feeling you had in the background that something was not quite right. You felt vulnerable and diminished and very involved with this strange dying world with so many familiar - yet strangers - faces.
Well I just watched an interesting video brining a stunning theory that Link actually died through the game o.o According to that theory, the five areas of the game represents the five stages of grief : denial - anger - bargaining - depression - acceptance in the exact order they're said to occur and the game is about Link coming to term with his own demise.
"You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
It's clear there is something definitely more somber about this one Zelda than the others. Under
