Comics Are ArtComic-Con Journey to the Heart of The New Summer VacationComics Are Art in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
Americans have a long summer vacation tradition of visiting the foreign capitals of the world and being sure to spend at least one day in each nation’s most iconic art museum. In Paris, we visit the Louvre. In Madrid, the Prado. In Rome, the Borghese. We feel far more comfortable in identifying the different peoples of our planet through examples of their greatest art works than we do about identifying ourselves as being represented by any one iconic “American” art museum or artist. Maybe the country is just too big for one musuem and so it has always fallen to our pop arts to carry the true visual narrative of what’s going on in the hearts and minds of the masses.
Comic-Con has become the new arts and culture go-to in domestic summer vacation destin

flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.
Were it that adult life were as simple as a happy Etch A Sketch memory from childhood.
(The campaign chief took heavy heat for his flippant, if truthful, statement.) The incident made
me wonder how many of us had early experiences as “sketch artists” with that incredible red toy that
has become almost standard issue for so many children still to this day.

3D Movies aren't as crisp as they use to beThis is a realization I had after getting the chance to watch some old school Pixar films in HD recently. While the story of Toy Story holds up well, the actual graphics and presentation look downright archaic in HD. Sometimes characters appear to “float” on the ground, while other times their feet intersect into the floor. Bump mapping textures are grossly pixelated. And I could literally see the wireframe corners of Buzz Lightyear’s mouth clipping into itself.3D Movies aren't as crisp as they use to be in Personal More Like This
That being said, one of the positive things I noticed was when I was watching A Bugs Life. The movie just POPPED with so much clarity and crispness. It was so beautiful to look at in HD. And then it hit me... the reason 3D movies don’t look this good, is because they’re not crisp anymore.
See, as technology got better, we learned how to round the edges of characters better. Objects that are square are still slightly rounded on the corners to make them more believable. And we learned to add in rack
Is TMNT flop already? And what can we do about it?Reviews from critics are already coming in for the upcoming Michael Bay produced TMNT movie and... lo-and-behold... they’re pretty shit. Over on Rotten Tomatoes it’s already got a score of 38%.Is TMNT flop already? And what can we do about it? in Personal More Like This
One of the prevailing themes of the new movie, apparently, is that everything is predestined. April was predestined to meet the turtles, and the turtles were predestined to become mutants. Everyone is connected to everyone else in ways that are flabbergastingly stupid. So much for random chance creating the turtles... Another theme is that this is more or less April O’ Neil’s movie. Not the ninja turtles. April is the main character. April is the focus of the film. The turtles are there, but they’re side characters in the same way the Autobots were side characters in the Transformers films.
The reason I’m bringing this up here now before the film is even out is because... well... I want it to fail. That’s a little selfish, I know, but I honestly don
About my TMNT rantGot a long journal head of you. I tried to break it up a bit so you can skim parts.About my TMNT rant in Personal More Like This
It appears some people were a little less than happy with the idea that I’m not going to see the new TMNT movie, yet have already formed a negative opinion about it. Some people, who don’t understand what the word means, are calling this “hypocritical” since I often ask that people try to see both sides of an issue, so taking a definitive stance here with (what appears to be to them) incomplete data is wrongheaded of me. So now I gotta write this journal to explain my actions better. Hope you’re happy ‘bout that...
It’s just a movie! Why does it matter?
Because it’s not JUST a movie. Movies do not exist in a vacuum. How well (or bad) a movie does informs YEARS of upcoming movies and careers. Thousands of people’s jobs are dictated on the whim of what the box office rankings are for opening weekend. A now famous example is Guillermo

I think I’ve reached a point where I’d rather Warner Bros give up now, since they clearly have no idea what they’re doing and seem grossly disinterested in trying to “build” this DC cinematic universe. I don’t want to see a watered down Justice League film before the actual Justice League movie. And I personally think it’s box office suicide to release it the same day as Captain America 3. Marvel studios is, right now, the BIGGEST film franchise company IN THE WORLD. Topping even Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings. Combined, the Might of Marvel is INSANE... and you’re gonna position your weakest entry (the 2nd film in a franchi

Hey, remember how cool it was going to be that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was going to premiere on the same day as “Captain America 3” in 2016? Remember how Marvel/Disney said “we’re not gonna budge or be bullied into changing our schedule?” Remember how we effectively would’ve had a Marvel vs DC movie stand off? Yeah well that’s no more. Warner Bros/DC changed their release date for “Batman v Superman” to March 25th 2016 instead.
On the surface this looks like good news for the consumer. After all, this way we can pay for BOTH movies instead of having to choose one, right? However, the optics of this move look VERY BAD for Warner Bros/DC. After “Guardians of the Galaxy” just made a KILLING at the box office this past weekend, being one of the highest grossing Marvel movie releases EVER... having Warner Bros suddenly swap out this movie’s r
DashCon - How not to do a conventionIt seems like every week there’s a new convention going on, and this was no different. First there were accusations of scamming, as the convention owners crowd-sourced $17,000 to secure the venue (which should’ve been done MONTHS in advance). All attempts to contact the hotel have resulted in the hotel saying there was no need to raise that money and that they never received any of it.
Then there were the cancelations. The Welcome to Nightvale people were flown in, but then told they weren’t going to be paid till AFTER they performed for everyone (which is already suspicious) and also told they weren’t getting reimberesed for the hotel, flight, food, etc. So sadly WTNV had to cancel at the last minute, resulting in the convention owners refunding patrons with “an extra hour in the ball pit.” The

One of the reasons I focus so much attention on Marvel and DC is because they’re big companies who should know better. They are made up by hundreds of people all chipping in little bits here and there, and for that there is no excuse for bad artwork, bad writing, or bad material in general. They are, to an extent, a bit of a cheap shot, but everyone can learn from their mistakes and I can offer my opinions about them and what I personally would do differently. And if you’re paying money for their products, I think you deserve good content in return, no?
SYAC is, at it’s core, about how comic artists and the comic industry works and poking fun at the various things they get wrong... and sadly that includes a lot of really hot button topics like Women’s Rights, Sexism, Racism, Homophobia, etc. Comics are no longer their own sheltered little thing... they’ve been THRUST into the mainstream audience and all of these problems we or

RDJ didn’t like the small bit part and wanted a much larger roll. Since his contract was coming to a close, Marvel though this might be a good time to drop him (because despite what you might think Marvel is still a penny pinching miser when it comes to paying for stuff). Long story short, Marvel and RDJ have worked out a new deal which will have Tony Stark and Iron Man in a much larger capacity for what is being called “Phase 2” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Lucy,” the new Scarlett Johansson R-rated action movie, is beating out The Rock’s “Hercules” reboot. Since we all know box-office statistics gained over a single weekend dictate how Hollywood organizes their films for the upcoming years, this seems to be once again another blow to the idea that women can’t be big picture draws.
This whole year movies have been coming out featuring strong female characters and lead actresses, and there CLEARLY is a market for that as all of those films have been box office blowouts. And that just makes me happy because it proves the industry WRONG on so many levels. Even the fact that some of the movies were reviewed pretty badly (such as “Maleficent”), the fact that the films are huge box office draws shows that there was a market ACHING for some new content just sitting there.

Devious Journal EntryHello, watchers and friends! Sorry about the spotty updating with 'Wander'. I do have a fair bit of content that I can get up but in between work and my rather emotionally taxing sister being home, I have been pretty busy. Plus, I have a partner now whom I've been pretty busy. Been doing a fair bit of Levi/Eren from AoT RP with them along with a bit of OC content stuff and that has kept me busy. I have also been attempting to budget for a convention coming up in the new year, watching FMA: Brotherhood finally as well as 'Orange is the New Black' and I've been re-reading the LOTR books again so my free time has been eaten up somewhat.Devious Journal Entry in Personal More Like This
Another quick note...I really suck at initiating conversations with some people so if you do want to talk to me ever, just shoot a note my way over dA or send me a Skype message and I will try to respond when I can. I may not always be emotionally up to the task or have enough energy but I will endeavor to respond when I can.

Okay, good, because I was gonna anyway.
Alright, I'm sure I don't need to tell any of you this, because all my watchers are fucking awesome, but I need to vent so, yeah.
So. If a certain member of a band you happen to like is being insulted and torn down in some way, and, say, for instance this is you favourite member of said band, you know what is a really fucking stupid thing to do?
Prove how good you think that member is, by attacking another member of said band. In fact, that makes you no better than the first person, and is actually probably going to make them hate the member they were attacking even more.
I'm gonna stop being cryptic now, and I'm sure this'll come as no surprise that the band I'm talking about is MCR, and the people in question are, naturally, Frank and Gerard.
I am getting sick of, firstly, people feeling the need to still talk shit about Gerard.
Okay, I'm gonna say it ri
The Thing About Idols...This is something I've been thinking about for a while...The Thing About Idols... in Personal More Like This
This is a note about idols. A lot of people have idols, I think that's a fairly common thing, and has been for a long time. It's nothing new. What is new, of course, is the accessibility of those idols, and, somewhere along the line, this is where a certain problem has occurred.
See. The problem with idols, actually stems from the name itself. 'Idol' is meant to be reserved for something divine, something to be worshipped, something, in itself, perfect.
Somehow, the 'modern age' (which encompasses a long time, in truth), has hijacked that term, and used it to mean something different.
Because, of course, those we now call 'idols', are not divine. They are, in fact, human. And, we all know. Humans are flawed. Or... Not even that always. We're just fucking complicated.
Once upon a not so long ago, those 'flaws' and 'complications' were not so easy to see, so the perfect image was able to be maintained. However, with adva
Yes, I Did Miss You. More Than You Know. The title for this journal is in reference to Gerard's first solo single, Action Cat. The line: "do you miss me?" probably had the same effect on me as it did a lot of people. It made me realise just how grateful I was that he was back, making music again. And, it made me realise how much I'd missed him, physically.Yes, I Did Miss You. More Than You Know. in Personal More Like This
Some people talk about meeting their hero's/idols/celebrities who have effected your life in some shape or form, like a checklist. Now, that is no bad thing, if you have a list of people you want to meet, that's great, good luck, and I hope you get to meet all of them, I sincerely, sincerely do.
What no one ever tells you though is, if there is someone you are particularly effected by or connected to, a checklist will never do. Because once will never, never be enough.
As a few of you will know now, in 2012 me and a friend flew out to Vegas to meet Gerard at a convention being held there. It was an insane weekend that I won't go into here, because th

Forgive me, But I can't let the day go by unoted. One year.Forgive me, But I can't let the day go by unoted. in Personal More Like This
I dunno if it feels like a longer or shorter amount of time than that. Sometimes I have the scary notion that I can barely remember how it was before. But I do remember the weekend of the break up very clearly. Today it feels like it was just last week, not last year.
Of course, with all perfection of timing, my copy of the Greatest Hits came in the post today, complete with t-shirt designed after the one Gerard wore for their first show, and black arm band.
Ever the theatrical, to the last. It's like others have said, most bands just split up. MCR throw the band a funeral. Complete with eulogy.
I will leave this on a positive, as best I can.
Last year saw the return of the first band I ever loved (I still feel like it might have been my trade off), and early this year, when the anniversary of that bands break up came around one of the bands members tweeted:
"For the past 9 years today has always been a shit day. But today I'm smiling."
Mission: #WeLoveYouGerardLadies and gentlemen... As co-moderator of the Gerard Way Street Team UK, it is my duty, and my pleasure, to alert you all to the wonderful thing spreading across twitter today.Mission: #WeLoveYouGerard in Personal More Like This
At around 10am (UK time) the hashtag - #WeLoveYouGerard was created and has been gaining momentum.
I spotted this hashtag, and between us, myself and my co-moderator have made it our mission to at least get Gerard to see this hashtag, and, ideally, to get it as a worldwide trend.
This is a small request, to those who are able... Get on twitter, and tweet with the hashtag #WeLoveYouGerard... I think it'd be truly wonderful if he could see this

Revelations. Of Various Kinds.Hello friends. I hope you are all keeping wellRevelations. Of Various Kinds. in Personal More Like This
I will start this by saying the past couple of weeks have not been the easiest of times for me. But, in reality, I think it roots back further than a few weeks, and possibly further than I care to delve into. It's always strange when you start to trace it back.
I've explained, previously, about my anxiety and the way it effects me. In the past weeks, it's got bad, worse than before even. A consistent headache has plagued me during this time also, which, it turned out was a symptom of my anxiety.
I'm pleased to say I am finally getting ways with which to deal with this, which, though a little scary, is also quite a comforting thought.
And, over the past couple of days, I have been doing some musing over certain things, and I think I have come across some revelations, which, in many ways surprise me, but in other ways really do not.
I'll start with the one that, actually, makes me feel the happiest and calmest, now that I've fig
If You Wish For Something Hard Enough...So, something I have been dreaming of for nine, long long years finally, happened to me on Friday night. If You Wish For Something Hard Enough... in Personal More Like This
You see... A band I loved broke up in early 2005, just short of a month after I'd last seen them live.
Last Friday night, I saw that band live again.
McBusted is the crazy, brilliant concoction of two bands, one that's been going strong for nearly 11 years (McFly), and one that's been apart from the last 9 (Busted).
Busted were, without doubt, the first band I loved. To say their split effected me is not even scratching the surface.
And McFly were the band I'd just got into, because of Busted, and when Busted were gone, McFly were who I fell back on. (Incidentally, when another certain break up occurred, it was, again, McFly I went to, remembering how they picked up all the little pieces of me last time around).
So, a little modified, and missing a member of Busted (the one who split them up in the first place...) , but, none the less, in all the ways that mattered...
I got my band

It occurred to me that there were a couple of things I'd been meaning to share with you guys.
Now, only a few people on here have actually seen/met me in real life, but those that have will attest that, upon meeting me, one thing is very, very loud and clear.
I like Gerard.
Like, a lot... If the necklace doesn't give it away (which, I expect, is the first thing people notice), then various other clues will do it. One of my favourite things a friend of mine once said was 'You can't even look at you without seeing him somewhere!'
And, just sometimes, this immediate evidence of my being a fan leads to some pretty interesting conversations.
Going back a few weeks now. Interestingly, the weekend before Gerard got to London. I was out, shopping with my mum, and I happened to spot a comic book shop I hadn't been to before. So, you know, my mum gets dragged right on over there. She looks as interested as she poss

I wanted to tell you about something rather exciting that I have just become a part of.
On twitter there are a few 'street teams' for Gerard.
A street team, basically is a group which aims to spread the word about a particular artist, usually through the medium of social media. And I am lucky enough to now be a full admin for Gerard's UK specific street team in twitter
i am currently one of two admins for the group (the other being the person who started it up in the first place), and already having quite a bit of fun! It's so awesome to be actively involved in something that deals in spreading the word about someone who is so very important to me
It's still only got a fairly small following, compared to some of the others, currently at just I've one thousand followers, but growing every day. And between us, me and the founder of the group have a couple of fun idea (some of which I'm still figuring out before I bring it to her )

Robert Evans (PSAS), a longtime member of the deviantART community, has succeeded in making a radical artistic statement about turning artists' visions into actual realities.
Robert's pathway to actualization of his vision was facilitated by forward-thinking executives at Lexus who reached out to the creative cutting edge, to deviantART artists, for new revolutionary design ideas for the production of their 2014 Lexus IS. The Lexus IS Design Contest was born and dA's Robert Evans has come away with the prize: experiencing having his personal artistic conceptualization of how an automobile should look and roll become a real world reality. As Grand Prize Winner, the new Lexus built to Robert's design was debuted at the SEMA auto show in Las Vegas before 60,000 US and international buyers and then featured at the Los Angeles Auto Show before 12,000 industry decision-makers and 4,000 media correspondents from 50 countries.

It's possible to de-convert religious peopleA few years ago a random person messaged me on a social network. She was visiting Vancouver and had wanted someone to show her around. I decided to invite her for a hike to Garibaldi Lake. It's possible to de-convert religious people in Personal More Like This
Spending almost a whole day with a new person from another part of the world, there are many interesting things to discuss. We talked about this and that, and eventually got to religion. She was raised a Catholic, myself - an atheist.
I made the standard argument and she brought forward the standard counter-arguments. However, she was willing to grant me certain things and she was willing to think about it. After she left we still continued to exchange messages and ideas over the Internet. She would asks me a certain question, and I would send a link to reading material, such as on cognitive biases. We became friends. Around a year and a half later she said that even though she wanted to believe in god, she no longer could due to the weight of the evidence and all the information that she had c

Fuck 911I remember watching the events of September 11 unfold live, and being very upset and disturbed by them. Even as a stupid teenager, I never liked the US foreign policy based on the very little that I knew and understood back then. However, I fully supported US bombing the shit out Afghanistan.Fuck 911 in Personal More Like This
Today, I saw the following image shared on Facebook by a friend, and it inspired me to write this post.
It's always important to see the big picture, and not miss the forest for the trees. Since 911 roughly, 100,000,000 people have died from hunger, which is a total of 30,000 911's in the last 11 years or over seven 911's per day. You tell me what is worse one: 911 in 11 years, or seven of them EVERY DAY.
But it's so mundane, and boring - right? Who cares about dirty little children dying in dirty little countries you can't even locate on the map. Almost nobody. This is not a rhetorical question, or speculation - it's a statement of fact. You don't really care, and I
Worthy of death in 30 seconds to 1 billion peopleAfter my last journal, multiple people have told me that I hate religious people and religions. First, I'd like to contend the charge of hate. "Hatred (or hate) is a deep and emotional extreme dislike that can be directed against individuals, entities, objects or ideas." My strong dislike for faith is not emotional in nature. I have good reasons for holding the opinions I hold. Unquestionably believing things which are not falsifiable is a recipe for disaster.Worthy of death in 30 seconds to 1 billion people in Personal More Like This
But don't I select the absolute WORST of the religious folk for my journals which represent a tiny minority? Most Christians and Muslims really don't beat their kids for not reading the Bible, or the Koran. That's obvious true, but entirely besides the point.
My argument has always been that the majority of moderates who self-identify as members of certain religions are good not because of their religion, but in large part despite it. The majority of modern Christians would be stoned to death in the days of the Old Testament, or

A 7-year-old boy was beaten to death by his parents last week after he failed to read the Bible and do his homework, according to Metro Police.
The horrific allegations of child abuse stand in stark contrast to the couple's Facebook pages, which seemingly show a loving and religious family devoted to Roderick Arrington, nicknamed "RJ." On one Facebook photo — apparently of Arrington and his niece — Markiece Palmer wrote: "My babies they make me happy. GOD bless the children!!!" On another photo of the boy and another child, Dina Palmer wrote: "I love them with heart and soul!!!!" A Facebook post from October 2010 reads: "Lord please guide my steps.... I'm trying 2 do better.... I wanna do better 4 my son, my family, myse

All hail the royal TITTY! (.) (.)I know that the mainstream media is in a fairly sad state nowadays. I usually watch it while I eat for entertainment purposes. All hail the royal TITTY! (.) (.) in Personal More Like This
But I'll be damned, how boring has these last few days been? All they've had on their mind is the royal titty. No, really, spending hours of airtime talking about a pair of naked tits over and over again. And when they are done, they do that, over, and over, and over again, yet again.
The idiocy is mind boggling. The court injunction to ban the publication of images being discussed over the last few days - just outright pathetic. A simple Google image search for "kate's tits" finds plenty of images which have proliferated the interwebs and cannot be censored, and are available for free to anyone. I did grab a quick look, and what a sorry pair of tits it is, especially from the front. Really disappointing, if you ask me. The bikini royal behind is at the very least sexy.
Which brings us to the important question - who is buying these magazines, and who is drivin
The Islamic way of beating a 6 year old to deathLet's start this entry by giving a big round of applause for all the people who are ready to kill children, when instructed. Wonderful people like Abraham, who also happens to be an Islamic prophet, as the Torah is one of the holy books in Islam -The Islamic way of beating a 6 year old to death in Personal More Like This
Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am." He said, "Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there.
And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
This passage is celebrated by Christians around the world as a demonstration of ultimate faith, and atheists like myself as the demonstration of insanity. But guess what? If you kill the son you love because you believe god told you so, then I believe that you have faith - no questions asked. I also believe that you are a fucking moron for having faith enough to kill your own son.
Today, we have a new believer in imaginary friends with
Five reasons why Jesus' sacrifice suckedI keep hearing from people that I should be impressed with what Jesus did, and be grateful to him. Even if we assume that it's true, I'm not impressed.Five reasons why Jesus' sacrifice sucked in Personal More Like This
1) He knew he would be resurrected after 3 days. Why would you be afraid of dying very much under such circumstances? I wouldn't be.
2) He sacrificed himself to himself so that he could forgive. Why not save a step, and just forgive? There is no reason for an innocent person to suffer - it doesn't make the situation any better. Human sacrifice does not work. If you think it does, well you are a Christian.
3) He knew that he would spend an eternity in heaven after a day of suffering on the cross. The physical pain he felt is not very much compared to someone dying from cancer or hunger - and neither do those people have a choice in the matter. Also, any person in hell endures infinitely more physical suffering than Jesus did. They also aren't glorified for their suffering like a..
