We Were SoldiersYou'll never hear me say that there's glory in war.We Were Soldiers in Free Verse More Like This
It is ugly, it is painful, it is frightening...
But I know, in my heart;
Deep within this soul born of freedom.
That what I do, at times, is a necessity.
It is nerve-wracking, most days,
Knowing that when you wake up you may not make it home.
But still I am proud,
Because of what I have managed to achieve.
And tonight; I hope that you're proud of me,
Because I'm sending a hundred of my boys home.
I just wish that I was joining them this time...
VinashukaThe cloud that forms above the burning wastesVinashuka in Free Verse More Like This
Hints to many that the dying world breathes.
Beneath the empty morrow that holds the shattered
glass, I see myself whispering 'Vinashuka'.
Cold muttered voices tonguing the edge of my sanity
The creeping walls denote the loss of my inner being
Lick the paper that cuts the tongue into a myriad
of pieces and once again whisper 'Vinashuka'.
But my words will fall on deaf ears and I'm tempted
to once again open myself for torture. For perhaps
the endless grief with which I give myself meaning
will form into the bloodied words of 'Vinashuka'.
This single whispered temptation, a solitary lie
amongst thousands of truths, a comforting security
that tells me I'm alive-
Is simple called 'Vinashuka'.
Now I feel like biting this flopping tongue
This worthless condemnation of meat and drool!
It gibbers endlessly and drives me to madness
A madness known as 'Vinashuka'

You've covered yourself with blankets
Like you're hiding from the bogey man.
You're so enraptured with your own ego
That you reject the helping hand!
You twisted what was a friendly gesture
And called it your very right.
Now it's time for you to fade away
Into the bitter cold of night.
I'm about to show you reality
So stay tuned and watch me work.
I'll paint you a vivid picture
That'll give your heart a jerk...
See you thought you should be top side;
Basking in the morning glory
But you're sitting in a filthy sewer
This is your fucking story.
When first you stepped upon the crowds;
Like a sea of angry sharks
They rose upon a swelling wave
And sent you somewhere dark.
Bleeding, chopped and mutilated
Hung like a chunk of rotting meat...
Just give up on your diginity
And accept your own defeat.

The Traitorous GreybacksThe Traitorous Greybacks:The Traitorous Greybacks in Free Verse More Like This
Shunned amongst the Lycan tribes;
The great betrayers of faith.
We bear the mark of our sinful past
This ancient scar of hate.
We wear it proudly upon our backs
The fur that's ashen grey.
The sign that we have sold our kin
To live another day...
We werewolves live as tyrant beings;
Immortal as we please...
But we alone are forced to bear
This fetid filthy disease.
It eats away at flesh and bone
Until all that's left is sludge.
Lost alone in horrid pain;
Through empty days we trudge.
But we have learnt a secret way
To stop our bitter end...
As long as we can steal a pup
From our blessed neighbour's den.
The Thunder Wolves, the Shadow Hunters
It matters not the choice.
As long as we can feast on flesh
We alone rejoice!
The trembling change that overcomes
It charges through our frame.
Granted now unholy strength;
We howl in the rain...
We are Greybacks, Traitors all!
But you have made us thus.
Now we shall begin our vengeance
And you will sate our lust.

A momentary glance toward the birds in the sky;
Makes me feel like I am soaring; with a hope to fly.
But the chilling winds that wrap me, reflect the cold of this day
And the icy frost that batters me, chips me away...
It drains the very breath from me, as though the ice is locked within
I feel my hope is fading again; like a jar of captured wind...
Where once my will was strong and boundless; now it sits on broken wastes
I must admit this crushing despair, it feels as bad as it tastes....
From the moment that I acquired them, these were ugly tattered wings
They were made from my despair, and bound in bitter strings....
Like permanent fixtures, of sorrows and tears;
They are laced with poison, and embedded fears....
On the edge of my sanity, I hear the voices keening;
These are lives that are lost while the creature is breathing...
It's a snippet of darkness, a shard of me!

But I took your faith and broke it up, like golden autumn leaves...

the plan is simple, tickty-tock
Give in to madness, go insane

The secret passage that will lead you through
or perhaps you might be eaten by a grue...

If you try to go forward it will be in vain
So try a new direction, upward or down

There are no limits except in your mind
Now do a google search and what do you find?
A pond of ideas now stagnant and brown
I threw in Jay Sean and he went down down down
But I digress and let me wind back

Now drifting helplessly
You shattered like glass
Knowing that you're fake...
The empty shell, that you grew
Has started to come undone...

You're breaking apart; and it weighs a ton!
The wire inside me
The blood in my veins

Knowing that I

When the world was simple
Not simply made of masks...
You lost yourself
When you took a sip
From the horrid poison glass...
So face yourself in the mirror
And look the person in the eye
Can you disconnect yourself from this vision
Or will you be the first to die?

ShinobiA lone blade decides the fate of a nation... (1剣は国の運命を決定する)Shinobi in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
That is the principle that we have always lived by. I do not pretend to understand the greater workings of the world, for that is not my intended purpose. I was born and forged as a blade. One that will never see the light of day.
Tonight I was called from across a distant land, to travel to a forgotten castle. Here, away from all things mundane, sits a lord who views himself as a mortal god. He does not speak to his people; he does not show his face. Instead he allows his chosen 'angels' to rule the nation in his stead.
This has led to severe unrest in some provinces and for the sake of maintaining the greater peace, the shadow of fire (火災影) has decided that we will strike him down. If one man's blood can save the lives of many, then he should be glad to have it spille

You always loved them and cared for them deeply
They were the joy of your life and you held them close.
Until one day, sadly, they were taken from you
and your heart was torn by the pain and grief...
But remember always, that they will watch over you
though you might not feel them presently
You can hear their whispers when the wind is blowing
and you can feel their warmth on the lonely nights
They will always remain in your memories
For that is where you keep a part of them
A loving part that will never fade
Therefore, do not think of them as being 'gone'
Instead take heart in the fact that they are waiting
So that one day, you might both embrace each other once more...

“Hey, there you are, I've been looking all over the village for you.” A very happy, excited Naruto walked up to you. He took a seat beneath the large tree you sought shade under and smiled warmly. “So, you wouldn't happen to be bored would you? Because I have a great idea for something we can do together.”
Really you weren't bored at all, but you'd found it more and more difficult to refuse Naruto's invitations lately. You quietly shut the book you'd just started, and gently placed it down on your lap. “What did you have in mind?”
“Well, uh, I think it would be better if I just showed you.” The blush that had suddenly appeared on his face made you wonder what exactly he had planned. “Unless you're actually busy already, then just don't worry about it.”
“No, it's fine, I'm not busy at all.” After tucking the book away into a small knapsack, you stood to your feet and offered Naruto

A unique story is waiting to be told
That the world will never see again
And though it begins with ‘once upon a time’
This is not a sugar spun fairytale
Each chapter and verse now lies in your hands
And is waiting for your dreams to prevail
Seek not perfection as mistakes will be made
It is repeating them that is a sin
Learn from others but don’t let their views smother
As hindsight in such a wonderful thing
Fear no one, fear nothing, never hestitate
Don’t let them measure your wisdom by age
Now you’ve gazed upon that cover long
Roses in the SkyA summers day to warm my childhood memoryRoses in the Sky in Free Verse More Like This
The distant yet vicinal sun is about to set
The sky has spent the day reminding me of life
Where as the ground I lie on reminds me of death
The green grass is growing through the thick brown soil
But I reflect on how it’s constantly dying too
I see each blade reaching to the sky for answers
In the same way that you and I seem to do
So taking this prompt from nature I raise my head
And use my infant hand to bring shade to my face
I see that the sun is falling behind the hills
But up in the sky it has left behind a trace
There is a rusty red glow high up above me
So I look to my father and I ask him why
He bends down to his daughter and whispers in my ear
My little princess, those are roses in the sky

As comparable to the most dreadful curse
But I see it as potential
To write in my own words the perfect verse
And though this is yet to happen
The promise will always remain right there
Like a newborn leaving the womb
As they take their first breath of fresh air
Some people will see the blank page
As a reason or excuse to give in
But every great literary work
Needed a scribbled first word to begin
Seeds of a thought that blossom
Thoughts that bloom in to an idea
The page slowly becomes your friend
As the reason you’re writing becomes clear
Some people will see the blank page
As their familiar adversary
As difficult to run away from
As the hardest to forget memory
But like those unwanted memories
It eventually will have to be faced
Don’t hide away from the hollow
And with words the blank page will be replaced

It was frightening and it made Madana frightened of sleeping alone for the night, but she also had to gather courage to hurry to Madara and Eri's room in fear that the figure in her dreams would come to life and actually try to take her away.

It has been four years since the end of the fourth Great Ninja war. Currently it was night in Konoha when under the cover of the night a man materialized near the Uchiha household. There was a joyful celebration going on as the man who was believed to be the last of the Uchiha married the woman he loved that day. The mysterious man was waiting for the day when everyone's guard would be lowered enough for him to get what he came for, He opened a window in the house and snuck in, being as silent and stealthy as the night he carefully took what he came for and left within a few minutes.
Madara smirked looking back at the house then looked at the bundle in his arms. Little arms reached out for his face, the baby girl was awake and unaware that this stranger was taking her away from her parents, Sasuke and Sakura. "This is what that traitor gets; he'll be none the wiser until he is done consummating his marriage " he chuckled darkly before he went back from whence he came.

It had been a 5 hour long trip, but they made it, with little attention drawn to Amy's unwittingly revealing attire. "Yeah, but it took a while to get here," Amy said. "We'd have gotten here sooner if you'd used Chaos Control the entire time, though." Shadow shrugged and replied, "Yes, but I'm trying conserve my energy these days. I need to be ready for anything, especially at night. The last thing I need to happen is to be ambushed by random monsters."Black Petals: Chapter 11 ~ Civilization in Romance More Like This
Amy unlocked her door and asked, "What do you mean? Are you talking about the Dark Gaia incident?" Shadow nodded as she opened the door. "I don't know much about it, but if the Doctor was foolish enough to resort to splitting the whole damn planet apart to feed his ambitions, who know what other cans of evil he's willing to unseal." Amy flipped a light switch. "Yeah, he's a stubborn old man, huh?" She looked around and, satisfied that everything was as s

My training with Shadow has been great! I'm getting stronger and stronger every day! Lately, I've been making Shadow use some of his special moves! Heck, just the other day, he almost had to use more than a few Chaos Spears! He still beats me, of course, but pushing him like that has to count for something.
I have a confession to make. Fighting Shadow is...exciting. I really don't know how to describe it. Whenever I'm facing him, whether I'm losing or winning, it's such a rush. I just lose myself in the battle and focus on the feeling, trying to get closer and closer to my limit, and when I do, when he strikes the finishing blow, this wave of...something washes over me and I just blank out. Sometimes, I feel so damn good that I can't think of anything else, even after the fight's over. I just lay there and feel...I don't know...content. It's, well, bliss.
Still, I know he's holding back. He's faced a lot of stronger opponents and I've witnessed the full extent of what he

It is mid-morning in Soleanna. By this time, most people are already hard at work making sure the City of Water continues to prosper. Their princess was even rumored to be studying various subjects in order to better benefit her people. Yes, all was as it should be. In the forest, a different kind of routine was about to begin...
Amy had returned to the appointed area where she was to begin her training. Along with food, bandages (taking her trainer into account, she figured she'd sustain more than a few injuries) and other supplies, she arrived in the attire she usually wore whilst aboard Extreme Gear, as she figured more sporty clothes would suit her training better. When she arrived, something was off. The clearing was empty. Her Piko Piko Hammer was still stuck in the rock where her trainer left it, but other than that, there was nothing out of the ordinary. "Hello?" she called out. "Shadow! I'm here!" But, there was no answer. This made the hedgehog girl worried. What i

Shadow the Hedgehog is a living weapon. To him, that is a fact...and it frightens him. All too often, he has found himself having to exercise restraint in order to prevent civilian casualties and lessen property damage. At times, it could be incredibly frustrating to handicap himself as such. This was one of those times.
What had started as a lesson was starting to turn into a headache for the Ultimate Lifeform. He had dodged multiple rage-induced swings from Amy already, whose style of fighting was not only undisciplined, but also erratic and impulsive. 'Much like her,' he concluded to himself. As she attempted to hit him with a Homing Attack, she held her hammer out during the spin in order to do any damage. Shadow rolled his eyes and waited. Amy zeroed in on him and he waited. Closer...closer...closer...
With that invocation, time froze. Amy's hammer was but a centimeter from his face. As he casually strolled to her side (like a boss, one might say), he got a

A week has passed since that day. No one had heard from Amy since then. Cream had tried to check on her friend, but to no avail. Tails offered to help in some way, but received no response. Everyone was worried, but Sonic insisted that she would be fine and just needed time.
Elsewhere, Shadow the Hedgehog was filling in his partner, Rouge, on the situation regarding the girl.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Rouge laughed through Shadow's transceiver. "You really let her have it, huh? I wish I could've been there to see that brat get what was coming to her." Shadow, however, was less tolerant of her haughtiness today. "Be quiet, Rouge. It's not like I wanted to." Rouge sensed that he was troubled by what had happened and said, "Seriously, you did the right thing. Trust me, sometimes a girl needs a reality check in order to move on. She'll be a lot better off."
Shadow was silent as he contemplated her words, though Rouge took it as more brooding. "Ok, now what's on your mind?" she asked. "Nothing," S
Black Petals: Chapter 14 ~ HealingShadow and Amy sat at her dining room table. Amy picked lasagna for them and, with the two of them, preparing the dinner took no time at all. As they ate their meal, Amy told Shadow about the incident with Chaos. Shadow was about to get up for seconds when Amy decided to ask him something. "Yes, Amy?" he responded. The girl looked a bit uneasy as she chose her words as carefully as possible. "Shadow, I know you don't like to talk about your past, especially nowadays, but..." He saw her unease and said, "It's all right, Amy. I believe you've earned at least one question. Go ahead."
"Well," Amy began hesitantly, "It's about Maria." Shadow tensed up upon hearing that name. Amy noticed this and immediately backpedaled. "Um, never mind. It's none of my business!" After a moment, Shadow sighed and said, "No, Amy, it's fine. I...I made a promise that I wouldn't let my past rule me. I may relapse ever
Black Petals: Chapter 23 ~ Rumble in the RuinShadow and Amy traveled towards the source of the explosion, eventually arriving at a particularly old ruin. "Amazing..." Shadow commended in amazement. "Just how far back does Knuckles' line extend?" Amy, sharing Shadow's surprise, shook her head and said, "I'm not sure, but what caused that explosion?" An all too familiar voice answered, "That would be me."
Shadow and Amy turned to see Dr. Robotnik, in all his mechanical extravagance, piloting a grandiose mech, as always, along with an army of robots. Accompanying him were Zero and Metal Sonic. "Doctor," Shadow acknowledged curtly. Amy, for some reason, found herself unable to speak. "Fancy running into you two here, of all places," Eggman said with a smirk. Shadow just scoffed. "What exactly are you doing in Soleanna, Doctor?"
Eggman replied, "Oh, nothing that concerns you. I just need those Chaos Emeralds you have. If you'd
