I looked at the sleeved paper and I felt less confident than her him. But I didnt want to diminish the light in his eyes. I asked him, Do you still want to head back to town?
Mayu sighed with the paper in his hands. Id like to put things right. Or at least know we can. I wouldnt be able to enjoy any of this without knowing that. Even the catboys. And this fantasy hasnt really turned out so fun. He slipped his shirt back on.
The walk to town took a while. And it was harder to navigate the dense branches in my adult body. Town itself was much the same as I remembered it.
Some people stopped to greet me. Everyone seemed so nice. There was one lingering look from an old man which creeped me out but the smiles of the townspeople more than made up for it.
Our home was much nicer than the one in Yujis memories. It was three stories with very nice glass work on the front. Mayu slid open the door a

I figured my anime expression was as undisguised as my feeling right then. Narrowed eyes and a sigh then a bit of a grimace as I said, "You still have a big brother."
That didn't feel very encouraging to say looking up at her but I took a little pride in it anyway. Smacking her softly-shaded hands together, Candace stuck out her candy-pink tongue and said, "But you're close. So close. Can't wait. I should snap another picture. And then maybe message mom?"
I urged her not to send it to mom, not yet. I could see her finger linger on the button but she relented, undulated her eyebrow lines, and noted, "Owe me two. Come on. You look silly dressed like that."
I conceded that but I stared warily at the clothing options because so many skirts were at the front of the store. As I walked, I tried to keep conscious of any feeling or changes in feeling between my legs and I shifted between that area and monitoring if my chest had changed any. I had so much

I did try on the jean jacket before I left and, had my wallet not been aching so much and the day been a colder one, I would've considered it. It was also unisex enough I didn't find it intimidating.
Setting it back in place, I scanned for Allison. She was trying on a few shades which didn't look right on her. Her indifferent expressions suggested she agreed. I approached her with a wave and she smiled back at me.
She asked me how I was. I took a moment with that. I didn't want to deluge her, so I just told her, with a sigh, "Holding up."
When I asked her how she was doing, she fiddled with a pair of shades and told me, "I feel bad bringing it up after all you've gone through " I stopped and assured her it was fine.
She continued, "It's I just wish I had a sense of what comes next. Candace has given me some good advice but I keep worrying it will get worse with my family. I don't think they hate me. But there have been moments which

Some part of my mind immediately flashed into action. I looked all around for signs of their direction. I recalled what Katsu had taught Yuji about trails. I noticed the fine details. I could tell the fresh footprints from the old.
I cut through the dense forest. Branches were broken along the way. I worried after a while that they intentionally wanted me to follow them. But I had no other choice. I ducked around trees as quickly as possible.
I was fast but not fast enough to catch a glimpse of them. After a while, it seemed they were getting more careful. There were less signs of their direction but still enough for me to pick up. My heart was racing but Yuji wouldnt let it overtake me. He was going to be strong for his brother. He was going to show him how much hed learned and how much hed done.
I felt such great admiration for him.
Yuji even had a rough fighting style which used his small size as an advantage. I worried what Mayu

Dee Wright sighed as he finished tidying the desk. Hed finished with dusting, mopping, organizing, and not a single customer had come in for some time. He cracked his neck gently and settled into his chair. The industrial fan in the corner oscillated a few times. He rapped his fingers on the wood of the table. Just three hours left in his shift.
Despite the occasional boredom, he enjoyed working in the back. It was like his own little world. It was much better than being out there somewhere in the rest of store. He liked the owner but he knew she definitely had some quirks. Like the fact she opened a store which sold gender-bending products.
It was a dangerous place if one wished to remain the same gender. Despite those pitfalls, Dee had managed, in sixteen months, never to be affected by a single one of the store products. A record he held alone among the staff. Most employees were turned within a month at most.
The air from the fan brushed at his cap with the store l

A touch check told me that my hair now fell against the middle of my back. A moment before, I didn't sense it any longer than my last check. I had no idea how it had crept down without me noticing. I glared at the glowing female spirit books. Most of them just borrowed from old fantasy book mythology anyway.
I made my way between the aisles and to the back where almost no one ventured. It was quiet. I crouched on the floor, sat down, and leaned against a shelf. With the high shelves and all the turns, no one would easily see me. I noticed I was in the mysteries and crime section with fiction behind me and non-fiction in front.
Crime was definitely something which survived in not-quite-idyllic reality. It had changed a few ways. All sorts of crimes against animated persons seemed to spike for a while. Some were crimes because of how they looked, which especially got press in recent months. Others just seemed to be the normal sort of crimes which

With a sly expression, she urged me to guess. I tried a few polite numbers before I settled on her actual age, more than fifty. She certainly didn't look it. She ran a hand across her sleek face, which looked paler than Allison's. It was a light pink but also a cream more colorful than alabaster. The closest color I knew was probably 'forget me not', which looked nothing like I expected when I started researching colors. In shadow, her flesh had a dusty pink tone.
I complimented her about her appearance. She bent up a hand and gazed at its shape. "Some days, I don't even remember what I looked like before. And that is fine by me." She gave a quick chuckle and asked a bit about me.
I hesitated and tried to search for the words. I worked slowly. I said I was a high school junior at Eakins High. I had indeed changed a lot. I was tempted to just show her my driver's license or school ID so I wouldn't have to say out loud what I knew all too well. Bu

I sat down and fiddled with my shoes a bit. Candace had to have a look at my feet before I went about stuffing socks in, which worked better than I hoped. Allison sipped her strawberry concoction, the lines of her mouth undulating slowly. Candace's lines throbbed like they were caught up in the wind when she inhaled her pineapple one. Of course, their influences covered the cups.
I drank my blend. Candace began and dominated a new discussion.
"I think we need to take photos of my brother. Allison, does your phone take pictures? Mine is kinda grainy. Mom has a great camera at home."
One that mom used for taking photographs of things for her art and displays and putting on various webpages. It was a great camera to be sure but mom would also have freaked if Candace borrowed it.
Allison took out her phone and prodded it a bit. I shared the same type of phone as Candace, so I'd be no help. After a minute, Allison smiled and offered her phone. Before

The customer sighed roughly and rummaged through his wallet. Korri creaked her chair and tapped the side of it like a drum.
Picking through his wallet, the man grumbled with exasperation and asked, Why do you need a receipt anyway?
Dee stretched over to tap a laminated piece of paper affixed to the counter and said, Store policy. Its just standard. Paper had the normal policy notes but also included a few that mentioned incidental consequences where the store was not culpable.
I bought this here.
Dee gave a nod which he tried to keep from looking skeptical. But it was without the automatic enthusiasm of a few hours ago.
While the customer checked around for the receipt, Dee looked through the store catalogue for pillows. He kept to the mental effects section and eventually found an index text listing that touted a product with the ability to give gende

Dees words, struggling to make sense of them.
Dee laid out a hand. I was born female. My aunt is Cerys Newid. Our boss.
Korris mouth dipped open. Confusion reigned in her thoughts. She slowly shook her head. What why how?
Dee shrugged. I have a means of remaining male while I work which Cerys provided me.
All the air seemed to have seeped out of Korris words. Softly, she asked, Why are you telling me all this?
Dee lowered his hand. Because of what you said and what I said.
Korri kept her eyes on Dee. You lied.
Dees body tensed. I dont lie. People just never ask the right questions. She watched his eyes. They didnt waver. They looked right back at her.
Korri dipped her head away. Whatever. What now?
