Malaysian Grand Prix 2013INTERNAL COMBUSTION - CONTROVERSY AT RED BULL:Malaysian Grand Prix 2013 in Deviant Events More Like This
Just only a week after the highly anticipated season opener in Melbourne came to a climax, the teams headed to the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Typically the weekend is a mix of torrential rain and humid conditions and it was no different for the 15th year of the Malaysian Grand Prix. After the first race in Melbourne, tyres were a big talking point and teams like Red Bull and Mercedes have demanded that Pirelli bring back the 2012 spec rubber, as they find it's impossible to push the limits on the new cars when by doing so the tyres will wear very quickly. Criticism also was made at Lotus by Red Bull's outspoken advisor Dr. Helmut Marko who believes the DNA which is on the Pirelli test car (which was formerly a Renault F1 car) runs on the Lotus E21 which was built by the same engineers as the Pirelli test car. However teams like Ferrari were positive with the new tyres and agreed with Pirelli's aim to force teams to th
Canadian Grand Prix 20122012 marked the 30th anniversary of the death of iconic Canadian driver; Giles Villeneuve. Villeneuve was killed in a crash during a qualifying session at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix at the Zolder circuit. He had raced for McLaren and Ferrari from 1977 till his death in 1982, having a total of 67 race starts, 6 race wins and 13 podiums. Villenueve had not won a world championship and his best result was 2nd in the 1979 when South African; Jody Scheckter triumphed.Canadian Grand Prix 2012 in Personal More Like This
Already in the 2012 season, there have been six different winners from six different races. A record in itself, being the first time in Formula 1 history that this feat has been achieved. The idea that a seventh different winner could emerge from the race at the Circuit Giles Villeneuve in Montreal was on a lot of peoples minds. To the surprise of the public, a seventh different winner did indeed emerge and that winner was Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) who has been in better form than 2011. Eyes were set on Hamilton's teammate; Je
Japanese Grand Prix 2012It had been a significant week in terms of driver contracts for 2013. The big news obviously being the confirmation of Lewis Hamilton's departure from McLaren: the team that nurtured him for the past 13 years. Hamilton had signed a three year deal with Mercedes to partner old karting team mate: Nico Rosberg. Not long after the news was out of Hamilton leaving McLaren, McLaren announced they had signed Sauber's star: Sergio Perez to take the number 2 seat in 2013. Hamilton stated that he is 'ready for a new challenge,' hence the move from a team that on paper wins 1 in every 4 grand prix to a team who has only won 1 grand prix in the last three years. Now that Hamilton had taken the seat for Mercedes it meant that seven time world champion; Michael Schumacher had nowhere to go. There were rumours here and there about a drive with Sauber now that Perez had left or a link with Ferrari to take Felipe Massa's seat. However Schumacher announced on Friday that he would retire at the end of thJapanese Grand Prix 2012 in Deviant Events More Like This
Formula 1 2013: End-Season ReportIf it wasn’t clear in the first half of the season that Sebastian Vettel already had one hand around the 2013 world championship, then the second half would have certainly convinced you of that. The Red Bull team were assisted largely by the change in Pirelli tyre compound in achieving nine straight wins, from Belgium to Brazil.Formula 1 2013: End-Season Report in Personal More Like This
Here is a team by team analysis from the Belgian Grand Prix to the finale in Brazil.
It is pretty much impossible to fault the performance of the Red Bull team and Sebastian Vettel. There is nothing much really to comment on, seeing as his run of nine straight victories from Spa to Interlagos were close to flawless. Vettel along with Red Bull picked up their fourth consecutive world titles, shutting down any hopes their competition may have had. Vettel claimed pole position in six of the nine races, on two of those occasions where he didn’t claim pole, it was his team mate Mark Webber. Lewis Hamilton was the other pole sitter for th
Formula 1 2013: Mid-Season Report2013 so far has been a fairly dramatic year for Formula 1 and now at the halfway point of the season, the championship has been brought wide into the open to what looks like a four-way battle. Whilst the subject of the Pirelli tyres has dominated most of the headlines, it seems now that the great tyre debate has been laid to rest. After many incidents involving complete tyre delaminations and blowouts, Pirelli have reverted to their 2012 spec design for the P-Zero slick tyre, whilst maintaining the 2013 compounds.Formula 1 2013: Mid-Season Report in Deviant Events More Like This
Now let's have a look at each individual team and see their ups and downs across the season so far.
The reigning world champions kicked off the season in a fairly dominant fashion, claiming their first front row lockout at the Australian Grand Prix. Triple world champ Sebastian Vettel would start the first race of the season on pole position. Immediately from that first qualifying session, critics concluded that this would be another season in which Red Bull
2012 Formula 1 Season Summary: Part IIThe crown jewel of Formula 1; Monaco is well known for its fabulous casinos but the drivers would be playing a different game of roulettes, with this round being a high stakes winner-take-all game. There was no doubt that after five different winners that there could a sixth, but the question was who? Schumacher had copped a five place grid penalty because of his collision with Senna in the previous race. This was bad news for Schumacher as he was the fastest in qualifying and would have started from pole position for the first time since his return to F1 in 2010. Instead Webber would inherit pole with Rosberg and Hamilton starting behind him. Previous race winner Maldonado would start P24 after dropping ten places for firstly having a run in with Sergio Perez in Free Practice 3 which left Perez with a damaged car that didn't run in qualifying and another five places for an unscheduled gearbox change. Button's balance woes continued as he was kicked out of Q2 for the second consecutive2012 Formula 1 Season Summary: Part II in Deviant Events More Like This
2012 Formula 1 Season Summary: Part IIt's hard to believe that the 2012 Formula 1 world championship has been one of the most exciting in the sport's history when you see that Sebastian Vettel was crowned triple world champion after the final race in Brazil. But indeed an exciting season 2012 was, with seven different winners in the first seven races starting off what has been dubbed F1's 'crazy season.' Here then is summary of the highlights from 2012 and how the championship unfolded to eventually give Vettel his third consecutive world title.2012 Formula 1 Season Summary: Part I in Deviant Events More Like This
2011 was seen as being a very bleak season in terms of competition between the top teams. Sebastian Vettel had dominated the entire season by winning 11 of the 19 Grand Prix. This was due to his Red Bull RB7 car's blown diffuser which when off throttle, there would be hot gasses going through the rear diffuser and giving extra rear end down force, making the car more stable in the corners. It was announced then for 2012, after a huge row over the blown diffuser that the FIA would
Hungarian Grand Prix 2012Round 11 saw the teams move to the Hungaroring in Hungary, a location that has seen McLaren win the last four out of five races here. Certainly they were hot favourites to win the race and indeed it was to be with Lewis Hamilton winning a solid race from pole position to chequered flag in the 69 lap Hungarian Grand Prix. Hamilton dominated almost the entire weekend after setting the fastest laps during the first two free practice sessions and then beating Lotus driver Romain Grosjean by almost half a second for pole position. McLaren confirming then here that their major upgrades from the previous race in Hockenheim have put them back on track in terms of dry weather running, after what has been a disappointing season from China onwards. Hamilton also equalled his idol; the late Ayrton Senna for also achieving three victories at the Hungaroring. Senna's three wins in Hungary were also for the McLaren team.Hungarian Grand Prix 2012 in Deviant Events More Like This

Monaco Grand Prix 2012The parade moved to the glamorous principality of Monaco for round 6 of the championship. Regarded as the crown jewel of motorsport, it certainly lived up to its reputation in delivering all the thrills, from Hollywood celebrities to nail biting racing action. For certain this season has turned into more of a lottery with the sixth different winner from six races, which is a first time in the history of Formula One. Australian; Mark Webber (Red Bull) was crowned the victor from the Monaco race after driving a sensational drive from pole position to checkered flag and also being the first Australian driver to win the Monaco race more than once (his first victory being in 2010).Monaco Grand Prix 2012 in Personal More Like This
Qualifying proved to be a big mix as it was Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) who had set the fastest time in Q3, would have had his 69th career pole if his 5 place grid penalty did not kick in from the previous race. Schumacher had been penalised after the Spanish Grand Prix for going into the back of Bruno Senna (W

After an unusually long break, Formula 1 returned and was at the Hungaroring for the Hungarian Grand Prix. Initial weather reports indicated that the temperatures would soar above 40 Celsius on race day, which would aid the likes of Lotus who came into the weekend as Red Bull's closest rivals. Though despite impressive pace from the championship leaders during the free practice sessions, it was Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) who broke through and snuck pole position and the victory from under Sebastian Vettel's nose. Even though Mercedes were excluded from the Silverstone test a week earlier, Hamilton showed no signs of struggle on the new compound Pirelli tyres.
As mentioned before, the mercury was set to be high over the course of the weekend, which could have potentially caused overheating problems for engines, KERS units and also the redesigned Pirelli tyres. Mercedes were keen to make up for missing out on the Silverstone test as per their pen

"Is the time of daring deeds forgotten, and spent the fire of men? The bravery sheathed, the proud hearts withered? In the scorched trails of our foes’ fury, even wizards’ spells knelt and warriors’ will bent; yet Dawn’s struggle beneath the burning clouds, within the shadow of dragons, has won her the eastern sky. Shall battle drums thunder once more, and mithril–clad soldiers brave again the terrors of the skies?"

I have never found a companion who was so companionable as solitude.
Henry David Thoreau
I always thought Thoreau’s comment was simply a word game— ultimately not of much value and false at its core. A Valentines Day in solitude should mean being all alone and alone means being unhappy, pure and simple. Still, it will turn out in life that the most alone we can feel is ironically in the crush of family and friends and even in the embrace of one’s Valentines Day companion— but lost and unfulfilled in one’s dreams and visions.

Well I'm joining in on the fun for DA's 14th birthday and telling my DeviantArt story which actually did not start 2 years ago. It was with another account a long time ago when MySpace was still a household name...
I have known about DA since I was in high school, about 6 years ago but didn't join until I was 18, so about 5 years ago, which is when I got my first DSLR camera and began focusing on my photography. I wanted a place to put it and remembering DA I started up an account I believe under my old Starcraft username "Shelna Kryhas". I posted mostly just for fun, a mix of digital art as I was learning it and photography. Mostly beginner stuff. That account is long gone since I started taking into account copyright issues using a phrase specifically from "Starcraft".
So I started a new one though I don't know what I called it. Anyways over the next five years I had a few different accounts, one just for art that I closed and two regular ones, one that was to be permane
