Dog TagsI am always by his side,
the man's, whose name I bear.
I am the first thing he touches
when he wakes up,
and the last before he falls asleep.
I can always hear his heartbeat
drumming away beneath his skin.
so hot and fiery from adrenaline,
so tan and warm from the sun.
He clutches me tightly as the bullets fall around us
and prays to God.
But I know he is praying to me.
He kisses me tightly for good luck,
as he has always done before a charge.
Blood splatters against me
and he carefully wipes it away the moment he finds cover.
His fingertips are cool against my face,
his blue eyes probing as he searches for the last droplet of foreign life
marring the etches of my cool form.
I see his comrades fall around him.
But he is untouched.
Perhaps God has listened after all.
Or perhaps it was my doing.
His guardian angel, keeping him from harm.
But perhaps I am exaggerating.
Or perhaps not.
Medals will try to take my place,
gold and silver and shimmery on the outside of his uniform.
Not Forgotten (FrUK)Arthur didn't bother celebrating his birthday anymore. There was no point- even if he announced it, people didn't remember. Or they didn't care. Whichever. So the blond Englishman always spent the evening of April 23rd curled up on his bed, watching shows on his laptop and nursing a small bottle of alcohol. Not Forgotten (FrUK) in Romance More Like This
He didn't expect his twenty-third birthday, his senior year of university, to be different. He finished all of his work by five and then proceeded to flop onto the bed with some Earl Grey. It was tea now; he'd move up to rum or whiskey at around eight. When the knocking came at six, at first he didn't hear it because he just didn't expect anyone to come around visiting him.
But visit him someone had come, and the incessant knocking only got louder as time went on, until at last Arthur took notice of it. He paused the episode of Merlin he was currently on and got up, almost stepping in one of the many empty teacups already littering the floor around his bed.

He, Gilbert, Antonio, and a slightly unwilling Alfred had gone out for a few drinks and now they were going home. The Frenchman was close friends with the German and the Spaniard, and the American had tagged along for distraction. It had started raining during their drinking, and none of them had an umbrella.
"Oh Gott, you're right!" Gilbert, the drunkest of the quartet, stumbled up to it and prodded it unceremoniously with his boot. Being so drunk, the nudge turned out harder than he intended.
The cat came to life with a yowl, and it huddled even closer to the dumpster. It was soaked through completely and its fur was matted.
Antonio snickered at it along with the other two, but Alfred stayed silent. The American's blue eyes were locked with the cat's impossibly green one
Britannia's Mistake Ch.1 (USUK)Arthur woke up to a massive hangover. That in itself wasn't really either surprising or troubling. However, the cool air on his bare skin had the potential of being problematic. Although he was tangled up in his sheets, something felt off. Moaning, he turned onto his side, his hands brushing against some of the fabric covering him. It was...smooth and silky, much softer than his sheets ever were, and most likely ever would be. He stiffened.
It couldn't be.
He hadn't drunk that much, had he? And yet, it was. He was wearing a toga.
Cursing, he sprang up and ran to the nearest mirror to verify his explanation. And sure enough, as he rose he felt a weight on his back. Tilting his head to the side, he caught glimpse of feathers. Then he was in front of his bathroom mirror, where he groaned.
Problematic indeed. The toga settled gracefully around his body as he stood there,

Then he had over half an hour to kill before Arthur came home and upon some consideration decided to just make dinner to save them some time later.
He had just finished setting the table and had put the kettle on when he heard the door open and close. "Artie!" he cried, whirling to face him with a smile.

Alfred whipped out his phone, quickly throwing it in between his shoulder and ear, as he started to madly press on the buttons of his Xbox.
"Y'eeeeeeeello?" he replied, as an explosion sounded loudly in the background.
"Alfred, at least greet someone properly over the phone if you cannot do it in person!" Arthur snapped.
"What!? Dude, i said 'hi,' what else 'ya want?!" Another explosion sounded, and some gunshots as Alfred cursed loudly.
Pinching his nose, Arthur took a deep breath. "Would you like to come over for a drink?" he asked as calmly as he could.

Arthur stared down at the note for a moment, not quite able to believe what he had just read. He went over the words again, and then a third time. They didn't change or magically disappear. Checking his watch, he realized it was just after 18:00. He took the suit and note inside, immediately making his way over to where his wall phone was.

Afterwards she met my dad, and then I was born." Alfred explained. "But Mattie has an older sister in Toronto that we go visit like once or twice a year. Mattie's dad had kind of an obsession with Japan and stuff so she's named Kuma, but she's pretty cool."

He wandered for days, cold and starving, before his strength finally gave out, and he finally collapsed in a field.
The Beauty of Silence - Chapter 2Alfred had a thoughtful look on his face as he entered the building he worked at. His radio station broadcasted from a very large building with all sorts of small, music-related companies inside. He headed for the elevator and pushed the button for his floor, 6. As that pleasant music wafted lazily through the elevator, he thought about what had happened on the subway earlier. He had been so out of sorts, trying not to anger Arthur for their differences. But in the end, it was that anxiousness and caution that had been wrong about it. He was a really accepting guy, after all, and never made fun of anyone for having a different ethnicity or sexual orientation or style or mindset or anything like that. But in all of those cases, he'd been able to talk from wherever and hear responses, which wasn't the case this time. It threw him off, he supposed. There was already a small crowd of people around, talking amongst themselves or on phones noisily. He smiled widely, looking around and letting the sounds flood through him. Seeing his chance, he tugged Alfred's sleeve again. He got the picture pretty quickly, and began to lead the older blond back towards the elevator. Once they were inside, Alfred leaned on the wall with a puzzled look on his face.
"When were you engaged? I had no idea you ever were."

For the next few days, Alfred had kept his promise. Each time Arthur was approached with food, he found he could eat just a little bit more. Alfred had actually brought it on a plate with a fork and knife, and taught Arthur how to eat properly. Arthur had rolled his eyes but did as he was instructed. It wasn't bad, he'd decided. None of them were. Though, his brothers were beginning to get suspicious, since now he was only nibbling halfheartedly on the daily meal, not hungry anymore. Alfred made his way back to the castle just as slowly as he'd walked outside. There was still a lingering happiness bubbling up from his time with Arthur. Any time he finally did something to make himself be happy it either didn't work or didn't last.
But was Arthur was different. Alfred didn't have to do anything. The civilian was easy to talk to, and didn't seem bothered by his strange behavior. Alfred had rarely acted so energetic since he was a child. Even as a child, boughs of playfulness were few and far between. His father had been a stern man, and he felt a prince had to be quiet and listen so he could grow up into a fine King.
Well, here he was as King, a whole castle to himself. It seemed like a nice idea in theory, but he had told Arthur the truth when he'd said i

Arthur could see the whole bar from where he stood on the stage, a violin lazily leaned onto his shoulder, his mouth inches away from the microphone. His gaze stopped on a far away corner of the bar and the Brit resisted the urge to let out a loud sigh into the microphone.
There was that table that Arthur couldn’t see from his spot on the stage, under the bright spotlight. He knew though that nobody sat there. It was his table... It smelled of dirt and blood in the huge bunker that was hidden deep under the ground, built of iron. The way in way sealed, protected by codes and passwords. Getting in was no problem, getting out though was a whole different story...
Heavy footsteps echoes back in the silence as a handsome young man walked in between the iron walls, his blue eyes-hidden behind glasses- skimmed over the paper that he held. Alfred F Jones didn’t look like he belonged in this dull place. He was handsome, full of youth and energy, not phased the slightest about the gloomy atmosphere of his workplace. There was always a bright grin on his features; it lit the place up just a bit. His co-workers appreciated it, but they didn’t think Alfred would last long...
The handsome young man ran a hand trough his dirty blond hair, avoiding the cowlick that always stood up, avoiding gravity. He was a scientist for a top-secret lab, somewhere in America. Even Alfred didn’t know where; he had been blin

It would surely chase his worries away... It would surely make him forget the French army that overpowered his and that would soon claim the soil of Britain as its own.
Without a single command, the British army ran forward, each and every man ready to die for his country. A pang of guilt hit England as he realized that each and ever man will probably die here, and if they did, he would as well.
Swords clashed, muskets were fired. The British screamed, the French laughed and all England could do was listen. Kill the French and listen to the agonizing screams of pain of his people. It was only later that he realized tha

Alfred couldn't keep his eyes shut any longer- the thought of Arthur being nearby and him now knowing begun to frighten him, yet not as much as the darkness that he saw with his left eye. The morning following to Alfred's raise started early for the blond youth. It was a surprise to everyone to see him the cafeteria line at six in the morning, yet still bouncing with joy. His never ending energy brought a smile to most scientists' chapped lips, as well as to the tired lips of the lady behind the counter who always rewarded Alfred with an extra cupcake.
"A cheese sammy and a cupcake, please!" Alfred announced loudly as he showed forward his plastic plate. As soon as the requested items had been loaded onto his plate, Alfred bolted away with a simple 'thank you' shouted over his shoulder. He had to make sure his special seat wan't taken by anyone else! Even though his special seat was a broken chair and nobody else ever sat there. It was put of the question that any wind would blow inside Alfred's room, deep underground, yet it didn't stop the lamp, that hung from the ceiling by a thin wire, from swaying to and fro, forcing the shadows to either stretch out or flee from the light. However, the lamp was not Alfred's concern- the young man was fast asleep, sprawled out on the bed with the book he had been reading resting, cover-up, on his face. It didn't seem to bother him, though, as his lips formed a smile against the paper.
Alfred really had nothing to smile about. Behind his smile, which seemed like it had been forced onto his face and made permanent by some spell, hid a scared boy who was at a loss as to what to do.
They hadn't let him go see Arthur today... They said he hadn't taken the experiments very well... Alfred had no idea what that meant. ... Arthur could be dead for all he knew and that thought had scared Alfred so much he had to excuse himself from work, bringing the excuse of a headache.

"Don't hurt me..." only when the creature spoke did Alfred understand the emotion that filled those captivating eyes; fear. How much pain had they caused this poor creature? How much suffering? Tearing him away from his home, everything he knew, and locking him up in this iron cage. Only a second later did it register to Alfred; the snake could talk!
"I won't! I'm here to help you!" despite everything, Alfred flashed his usual, enthusiastic grin towards the snake. To prove his words he reached out his hands to show that he had only bandages in them.

Of course, they had gathered for a reason; to take down the king and to free France from monarchy.
A neutral expression, one he had perfected for years, could be seen on the face of king Francis XVI as the royal man sat upon his golden throne, listening to the angry cries of his outraged people. The king was tired, the French revolution had taken its toll on the man who could have once been considered beautiful. "No," England snarled. "I'm going to beat you!" He muttered a spell under his breath and fired a small beam of light from his wand. The Thing laughed and stopped the attack with a simple wave of its hand.
"Really, I thought you would actually make me break a sweat with all that bravado!" It laughed. "And yet, this is all you could muster I'm very disappointed. I don't do well with disappointment." It flicked its hand again, forming three dark purple energy balls. They flew towards England, buzzing with some sort of evil power. He just barely managed to dodge two, but

I was standing in a grassy field. I didn't recognize where I was at all; no matter which way I turned, all I could see was the blue sky with its fluffy, white clouds and the lush, green grass. I sat down, confused as to how I had ended up here. Soft footsteps a little ways away told me there was someone coming. I lifted my head and felt a stream of sadness rush into my heart.
"England..." I whispered. He didn't seem to hear me, so I repeated his name, louder. "England!" I called. He didn't respond, and instead continued staring at the sky. "England!" I shouted as loud as I could. No reply. I sighed, figuring this was no different from everyday life. No matter how loud I cried, no matter how many times I tried, he could never hear me...
The sky turned dark, the clouds becoming gray and menacing. The distance between England and me seemed to grow with every second. I reached out for him, tried to run after him, but it was no good. I skidded to a halt when somethin

Alfred kept looking at his sleeping companion with so much love and adoration, today was a very special day as it was, Valentines Day, a day where couples spent the whole day just enjoying each others company, and a few other things.
Alfred had been planning this day for quite a while now, he did plan on spending the day with Arthur, but he had a little something else planned as well.
Of course he was nervous, but there was no way he was going to back out of his choice. Alfred's thoughts were interrupted by movement in his arms.
Arthur's groggy eyes slowly opened to see a warm smile on his lover's face. While the smile seemed a bit too cheery this early to him, he still returned a small smile of his own, “Good morning poppet..” he said quietly.
Alfred smiled even more as he l

"AAAAAAAALLRIIIIIGHT EVERYONE!! IT'S PARTY TIME!!!" Alfred's loud voice boomed over the microphone. Everyone in the large hall screamed and yelled for their excitement for the New Year.
Alfred had a big smile gracing his face after seeing everyone's excitement, and even more so seeing a certain grumpy country was even enjoying himself. Alfreds smile grew even wider, when he saw Arthur standing in the crowd and smiling.
When Arthur made eye-contact with Alfred, his smile never failing, waved wildly at him. Arthur just shook his head with a chuckle and waved back at the excitable American.
"So, gentlemen and few ladies," the crowed chuckled at that, "I shall leave you all with the band that has come to entertain us all with their amazing music!" Everyone cheered happily again as Alfred got off the stage to let

It was a really cold day in December, the 24th to be exact, as Alfred F. Jones looked out at the snow that was forming on the ground. He kept thinking of one person that he really wanted to see this Holiday but what with the snow and how deep it was getting, he was afraid that the man wasn't going to be able to see him. He sighed and turned away from the window so that he can look at the fire that he had started a while ago, he put his hot chocolate down to add more wood for the fire.
After adding another piece of wood he turned to look at his tree that he and his lover put up together. He looked at a particular ornament that had a picture of him and his lover Arthur Kirkland in it. In the picture Alfred was holding Arthur in a big bear-hug with a huge grin on his face, and Arthur laughing slightly more than likely about the attitude of the American at the time.
Alfred smiled at the memory of taking the picture with the Brit. He walked back to his drink and picked it up just to stand a

Arthur hated this stupid holiday for more than one reason, one: it was stupid in general to have a holiday all about love. Two: he never got anything anyway, and some people don't, so why torture them by pointing out the fact that they didn't have anyone? And Three: ..the only valentines he ever got was from Francis....and not a card oh no it could never be a simple card from the moronic French country...it was always something more....that he never EVER wanted.

The little girl grabbed one and put a small little wooden boy with blond hair and green eyes and a very festive outfit onto the tree. A moment later, she put a little decoration of another small wooden boy, but with blue eyes and another festive outfit close to the other little boy.
The boy with blue eyes smiled some looking out the window at the snow and sighed happily. He glanced over at his decoration neighbor and had to take a second glance before smiling and staring some.
The other boy didn't seem to be paying attention because he was staring out the window as well and smiling.
