Bird Bones sat down on the curb of her sidewalk with Eric, whilst slurping on a cherry popsicle. It was a sunny summer afternoon, summer vacation in full swing by now. BB and Eric spent more time together than ever now; almost every day since school had ended. They both enjoyed it as much as the other, but for some reason today, BB could notice Eric was particularly quiet. She shifted on the sidewalk and took a better look at him. He wasn’t sad-looking, but he looked deep in thought. He had been like that all day that day. He had barely touched his popsicle and it was starting to drip onto the pavement.
“Hey, Eric?” BB finally chimed in. He looked over at her. “What are you thinking about in that big hair-head of yours?”
