Guy Fawkes Day
Burns one man's vendetta on fires of drunk delight while Heaven's rainbows burn and sparkle in the sky.
The fascinated coo while boredom freezes cold and watches while his breath fades steaming into night.
The pennies for the guy jingle in their tin while he a traitor burns, his Cath'lic soul in Hell.
The animals run scared, not from fireworks, but from th'unholy sound of Guido's punishment.
He screams a silent scream that no-one else can hear, save God and pets and Satan's wailing hordes.
“A desperate disease requires a dangerous remedy.”

I was inspired to create this series by naikki while looking through her gallery of diverse artwork and reading through her journals which are focused on her favorite inspiring writers and thinkers. I felt certain there must be beautiful artwork in the form of portraits and tributes to these writers and their stories. I found most of naikki's choices of quotes to be inclusionary, redeeming and welcoming to any artist on their own path. Instead of just crediting naikki with the inspiration for this new series on depthRADIUS, I also invited her to provide a quote about Herman Hesse of her own to kick off this series.

The Dead Places
The Visual Delicacy of Decay
It’s easy to think of art in terms of what is instantly pleasing to the eye, artworks which
evoke a feeling of joy and hopefulness and blissful peacefulness or ecstatic exultation.
This is the consideration of art as something that helps propel us forward through life – to out future great
deeds, our career victories, or dreams of coming big events. But there is a peak to every life. At some point all
people, and all places, and even all ideas have to begin the inevitable decline that is the other balancing half of a lifetime.

When recently asked how his political candidate would explain certain positions taken during the
nomination process with contrary positions to be taken during the general election, the campaign chief
replied that stated political positions were “like an Etch A Sketch,”—meaning they could simply be
flipped over, erased and begun over from scratch.
Were it that adult life were as simple as a happy Etch A Sketch memory from childhood.
(The campaign chief took heavy heat for his flippant, if truthful, statement.) The incident made
me wonder how many of us had early experiences as “sketch artists” with that incredible red toy that
has become almost standard issue for so many children still to this day.
For those unfamiliar with the magi

Kay (aka damphyr) is DeviantArt’s go-to expert on everything “Pokémon.” She also occupies the adventurous position of being one of DeviantArt's main enforcers of standards and practices. We thank her for being a guardian of artistic erotica and especially, for being able to answer every question we get asked about Pokémon and just about anything else for that matter. Supreme Keeper of all pop culture knowledge, Kay must be protected in case of global disaster.

Street photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson called it the “decisive moment”— the captured instant when all the photograph’s elements come together to tell a story in a way a text narrative of thousands of words could never begin to. It is what hooks people, both practitioners and advocate-devotees, on the art form. It is uniquely completely immersive in life— step out into the streets— in which the moment of artistic epiphany can never be guessed at until it suddenly happens. When it is properly mastered, it is as pure as the dawn of each new day, as true as the living organism of a teeming street scene catching a breath as one.
It's no easy task to pull a book together for publication and "The New Street Pho

I give away one of my little Danbo's for free, just because I know how many people would like to get one. I'm not sure how yet. I think with random.org is the most fair way to choose one person. If you have a better idea leave a comment below. This give away starts Aug 1 and will end on Aug 8!
Who is Danbo? It's a carboard box robot made of plastic. He can move his head, arms and legs and his eyes can give light by turning on a switch. (see my pictures below)
What you have to do is:
Add this journal to your favourites so I know that you're in!
And that's it ♥
I'll send this 3 INCH tall Danbo in his original package to your address if you are chosen.
Good luck to everyone ♥

SPAM - Short Pointless Annoying MessagesSPAM - Short Pointless Annoying Messages in Personal More Like This
Hello my watchers/non-watchers/kind visitors, and of course, hello spammers!
I don't know from where to begin because there's a lot to say about this kind of subject called spam.
I've seen that some of people on deviantart.com don't really know what the word spam means, so I will try to be smart with the help of my little friend wikipedia, and use a chance while it's not blocked by SOPA, PIPA and all the other annoying short names. So, here it is (annoying but useful definition):
"Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging

Ten Tips for Photographing Food1) Set the Table...Ten Tips for Photographing Food in Art Features More Like This
In the image above, claremanson not only photographs something that looks enticingly delicious and creative, but she has additionally set the scene. She's made up the 'table' so to speak, so that it compliments and even enhances the Food that she's photographing. Looking carefully at your setting is a fantastic way of making your Food look good and unique. It's cheap too, just look at using glasses, sometimes with liquid in them, colourful tablecloths, napkins or any other items that might suit your image. Within cookery books these days, images that 'set the scene' are becoming increasingly more popular and widely used.
2) Play with your Food...
Here, LADYW has not just made a 'salad' or an arrangement of food. She's looked carefully at how she can arrange her food in the most creative and complimentary way. Using shapes and colour to make something look good

Oh December, Where are you?So John Lewis have done it again. For those who don't know, they did a fantastic Christmas ad last year that was more about the cute than about their products (they're a 'department' store of sorts). They've done it again this year, set a wonderful cover to a wonderful animation/video. It's Christmas soon!Oh December, Where are you? in Personal More Like This
How Soon 'Not Now' becomes 'Never'There's a saying, I heard it first in German but the English translation makes perfect sense too.How Soon 'Not Now' becomes 'Never' in Personal More Like This
~"How soon "Not Now" becomes "Never"
With a New Year, there comes many a chance for people to start again, to recreate themselves, to reinvent, to begin new love, to end old ones, to find new people, new purposes...new pathways. So many of us vow to become better people. We use the end of 365 days, and the beginning of 365 more, as a platform from which to launch ourselves with renewed purpose. But what about the simple things? "How soon "Not Now" becomes "Never"" stuck a chord with me. It's so very true. Whether we tell a child, "Not Now" or we tell a partner, "Not Now" - or we utter to a parent, "I'll do it later" or even a friend. How very quickly, something that we carelessly respond "Not Now" to, becomes something that is never done, achieved or even thought about. Oh it's not every single time. But it happens a lot.

“As we all know, Steel and Liar are on the prowl under Vander. He has become more dangerous and we have already had a close encounter.” Fell glanced at Shadow, who slunk down a little. “We feel that it is the best interest to join the packs now.” Shadow sat eyes wide. She kept at a fast pace, motivated only by the images of Ky shredded and bloody. She wouldn't let that happen! Faster she ran, pushing more, ignoring the ache in her legs. Her ears pricked when she heard the sound of a battle and then there they were. Ky was covered in blood as leopards tore at her flesh, mauling her against the ground. Shadow let out a warning roar as she stood in a fighting pose. Vander's eyes flickered to her and a group of scarred cat faces glared. Then they turned to the bird, who ordered them.

"Storm left her! Alone!" Fell shouted.
"Yeah. Why do you look so worried .Steel! I totally forget!" Eclipse's eyes went wide with fear for her alpha. Fell and Takuma were Shadow's parents, making them the original alphas even to Shadow, but she would be the alpha of a new pack with the new generation from both packs. Just about the only thing I don't like about is the strong cyan tint, which seems to be more associated with the photo of the painting rather than then painting itself. Overall it's definitely one of the best derivative works I've yet to see based on my photos. I really enjoyed exploring how all the little details differed between the two.
Rpriet1 did not ask for my permission, or inform me of using my photo. A DA gallery moderator just messaged to ask whether I would like the deviation removed, and the DD revoked. I think most artists who've had their work "stolen" would be outraged, but for me the answer was a very unambiguous no. This is a complicated issue, and I think that the vast majority of the readers will disagree with me at this point, so let me explain my position carefully.

From Wikipedia - "Racism is usually defined as views, practices and actions reflecting the belief that humanity is divided into distinct biological groups called races and that members of a certain race share certain attributes which make that group as a whole less desirable, more desirable, inferior, or superior."
Study this definition carefully. It does not contain a judgement - it's a statement of fact. Based on this broad definition, there is no doubt in my mind: I am a racist. I'll go much further, and argue that you should be one, too. Not a ra
[We were motivated by religion] - TsarnaevHave you ever heard a brutal criminal say "I was motivated by not believing in god to kill these people." Not really a common occurrence, is it? Christopher Dorner was apparently a non-believer, but his actions were obviously not motivated by his non-belief. They were a result of LAPD corruption, a twisted sense of pride, a poor upbringing, and a host of other issues. On the other hand, how many times have the religious fundies openly claimed that they did it for god, or because of god, etc? Case in point, the newest addition to the list are Tsarnaev brothers from Boston.[We were motivated by religion] - Tsarnaev in Deviant Events More Like This
"You can't be moral without god" they say. I can't make such a sweeping statement, but I can make a far more accurate one: "It's more difficult to be stupid without god". It's still easy, but it's just harder to rationalize and validate it internally. The suicide bomber logic: "I'm going to go blow up some random people because my imaginary friend told me so in his holy book."

(It's just difficult to ignore the 'what ifs'). Amongst the passing figures and loved ones in my life, I suppose it's natural to be afraid. Months ago, I felt I'd lost the borders in my mind; without a way to determine what person was really controlling each step I took... Before I payed attention to the current. I just made an improvised piano cover of the song "Stay" by Rihanna... It is one of my fav songs in the moment. I have played the piano since I was 8 years old, but I never learned how to read the notes. So I learned everything by listening and trying out to hit the right chords. The cover wont be perfect in terms of arrangement, tempo or hitting the right notes all the time, but playing the piano is my passion (next to art) and I thought maybe it could inspire some of you! ^^ The cover is 100% improvised and it is not a "melody" cover, but only an arrangement of the chords of the song. Most empires and colonial projects fall under the weight of their own contradictions, but usually over a protracted period of resistance, both passive and active, on the part of its victims. At the same time the material privileges gained from the exploitation and expropriation of a colonized people acts as a slow-acting corrosive on the society of the colonizing state, poisoning it with racism and hatred for those it has colonized as it seeks to justify the material privileges and psychological sense of supremacy and national pride that accrues from that colonization. This moral decay is commonly reflected in the degeneration that takes place in the armed forces of the state in question,

Israel sincerely believes that if it kills hundreds of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, quiet will reign.
