I give away one of my little Danbo's for free, just because I know how many people would like to get one. I'm not sure how yet. I think with random.org is the most fair way to choose one person. If you have a better idea leave a comment below. This give away starts Aug 1 and will end on Aug 8!
Who is Danbo? It's a carboard box robot made of plastic. He can move his head, arms and legs and his eyes can give light by turning on a switch. (see my pictures below)
What you have to do is:
Add this journal to your favourites so I know that you're in!
And that's it ♥
I'll send this 3 INCH tall Danbo in his original package to your address if you are chosen.
Good luck to everyone ♥

Photoshop Actions are the recordings of commands that can be applied to one or multiple images in Photoshop. When you press play, it applies these recorded commands. Think about changing the mood in a picture with various adjustment layers. Using an action can actually help you save a lot of time.
Which versions of Photoshop are lieveheersbeestje's actions compatible with?
All Photoshop CS versions, CS2 to CS6 Extended. My actions are not compatible with Photoshop Elements or other programs.
How can I download your exclusive actions?
You can download most of the actions at my DeviantART for free, it's easy and takes a few seconds. However I do have some exclusive actions as well, you need to pay with DeviantART points in order to get them. Want free points? Read more below in this journal.
30 points every week!
Every week I choose at least one artwork that used one of my actions. This artist will receive 30 points.

Which brings us to each year’s communal celebration of the passing of our lifetimes:
New Year’s Eve
So what did you “actually get done” in the past year? How closer are you to a grand goal in life? An assessment is made and then the inevitable Step 2 of the yearly process is engaged, which is often a word for word repeat of last year’s Step 2:
The New Year’s Resolution
There seem to be two main strategies that emerge at this point of facing the New Year, a “brand new morning.” The lone wolf quietly acknowledges goals not yet reached, and is even more secretive in the “new plan.” “I’ll show them,” becomes the new privat

I was inspired to create this series by naikki while looking through her gallery of diverse artwork and reading through her journals which are focused on her favorite inspiring writers and thinkers. Americans have a long summer vacation tradition of visiting the foreign capitals of the world and being sure to spend at least one day in each nation’s most iconic art museum. In Paris, we visit the Louvre. In Madrid, the Prado. In Rome, the Borghese. We feel far more comfortable in identifying the different peoples of our planet through examples of their greatest art works than we do about identifying ourselves as being represented by any one iconic “American” art museum or artist. Maybe the country is just too big for one musuem and so it has always fallen to our pop arts to carry the true visual narrative of what’s going on in the hearts and minds of the masses.

Links to pages on deviantART can quickly be distinguished by their bold, dark-blue color, while external links are darker and have an arrow indicating you are leaving deviantART.
Deviants you mention are notified in the new Mentions section of the Message Center, making engaging and involving others in conversation a simple, hassle-free experience.
How to Mention
There are four ways to mention a deviant.

On the day of your birth, you were likely surrounded by those who loved you, who would lead you through the rough first scary years of life, and who would stand by as you grew into a capable person. As time passed, others may have drifted into your life, and even if you didn't know it, they also nurtured and cared for you in much the same way, helping to shape the person you would become.
When a community like deviantART is born, the same common thread binds its originators and founding members together. Over the years, more and more creative beings drift into its life and strengthen its core every single day, resulting in an exponentially inspirational powerhouse for the sheer fact that they've become a part of it. That nurturing spirit, that inherent support system, that caring community inspires deviantART to grow, and it comes from inside each and every one of you.

Oh December, Where are you?So John Lewis have done it again. For those who don't know, they did a fantastic Christmas ad last year that was more about the cute than about their products (they're a 'department' store of sorts). Ten Tips for Photographing Food1) Set the Table...Ten Tips for Photographing Food in Art Features More Like This
In the image above, claremanson not only photographs something that looks enticingly delicious and creative, but she has additionally set the scene. She's made up the 'table' so to speak, so that it compliments and even enhances the Food that she's photographing. Looking carefully at your setting is a fantastic way of making your Food look good and unique. It's cheap too, just look at using glasses, sometimes with liquid in them, colourful tablecloths, napkins or any other items that might suit your image. Within cookery books these days, images that 'set the scene' are becoming increasingly more popular and widely used.
2) Play with your Food...
Here, LADYW has not just made a 'salad' or an arrangement of food. She's looked carefully at how she can arrange her food in the most creative and complimentary way. Using shapes and colour to make something look good

How Soon 'Not Now' becomes 'Never'There's a saying, I heard it first in German but the English translation makes perfect sense too.How Soon 'Not Now' becomes 'Never' in Personal More Like This
~"How soon "Not Now" becomes "Never"
With a New Year, there comes many a chance for people to start again, to recreate themselves, to reinvent, to begin new love, to end old ones, to find new people, new purposes...new pathways. So many of us vow to become better people. We use the end of 365 days, and the beginning of 365 more, as a platform from which to launch ourselves with renewed purpose. But what about the simple things? "How soon "Not Now" becomes "Never"" stuck a chord with me. It's so very true. Whether we tell a child, "Not Now" or we tell a partner, "Not Now" - or we utter to a parent, "I'll do it later" or even a friend. How very quickly, something that we carelessly respond "Not Now" to, becomes something that is never done, achieved or even thought about. Oh it's not every single time. But it happens a lot.

A Royal MeetingEclipse walked towards the pack, without Shadow, thinking of silly images of Storm and Shadow in her mind. It made her laugh, how she loved teasing Shadow about him. It was so funny how Shadow blushed and then became angry.A Royal Meeting in Personal More Like This
"Hey Eclipse. Where's Shadow?" Shadow's father and the alpha said.
"Talking with Storm."
"Storm's here." He stated, his black fur bristling.
"Oh. Well, she was with Storm when I left her." Eclipse said accusingly.
"Storm left her! Alone!" Fell shouted.
"Yeah. Why do you look so worried .Steel! I totally forget!" Eclipse's eyes went wide with fear for her alpha. Fell and Takuma were Shadow's parents, making them the original alphas even to Shadow, but she would be the alpha of a new pack with the new generation from both packs. Eclipse, Luna, and Summer would follow under her. Along with Storm's pack mates, Ty, Echo, and River.
"We need to find her!" Fell growled, running off with Eclipse.

UnderstandingStorm and Shadow turned to face their three opponents and crouched into action. Shadow jumped at a dark brown wolf and bit into his side. The wolf turned and grabbed Shadow by her scruff and ripped at her flesh. Shadow rised onto her legs and pulled herself free of his grasp. With his attention distracted, she teared at his back, struggling to reach his neck. As she clung to him, a wolf shoved her off. One of the other wolves aimed at Shadow protecting the other. Angry at his disruption, she flashed her teeth at the wolf. Both of the two wolves lunged at Shadow. She sprawled out of the way scrambling across the ground, but once she landed a steady foot, she spun round and she sunk her teeth into one of the wolves drawing blood. It was hot in her mouth and covered her muzzle in a crimson shine. Near her, she could see Storm fighting of a huge male. Blood continued to drip onto the cave floor, but it didn't mask the voices she heard outside. She could pick up the cries of Vander, who was screaming at Liar.
" I want wolves........Go Now!" Fear crept up her throat. Was Ky in trouble?
" No!" Shadow howled out to no one. Chains kept her back as she clawed at the floor and walls. A sharp rock pierced her paw causing her to stop the frantics. Her breath was hard and her throat dry. She knew she had to sty strong but it was hard when hunger sear your stomach.
Night crept, blanketing the cave in a darker glow. Shadow lay on her belly trying to ignore the pain. Then she smelled the presence of another wolf.

She kept at a fast pace, motivated only by the images of Ky shredded and bloody. She wouldn't let that happen! Faster she ran, pushing more, ignoring the ache in her legs. Shadow let out a warning roar as she stood in a fighting pose. Vander's eyes flickered to her and a group of scarred cat faces glared. Then they turned to the bird, who ordered them.
"Kill her!" " They turned and ran for Shadow. Ky climbed to her feet slowly in a lot of pain.

He has become more dangerous and we have already had a close encounter.” Fell glanced at Shadow, who slunk down a little. “We feel that it is the best interest to join the packs now.” Shadow sat eyes wide. Art theft is not a crime - say NO to copyrightToday, a DD was awarded to a nice acrylic painting (below left) which was painted from my photo (below right) -Art theft is not a crime - say NO to copyright in Personal More Like This
Just about the only thing I don't like about is the strong cyan tint, which seems to be more associated with the photo of the painting rather than then painting itself. Overall it's definitely one of the best derivative works I've yet to see based on my photos. I really enjoyed exploring how all the little details differed between the two.
Rpriet1 did not ask for my permission, or inform me of using my photo. A DA gallery moderator just messaged to ask whether I would like the deviation removed, and the DD revoked. I think most artists who've had their work "stolen" would be outraged, but for me the answer was a very unambiguous no. This is a complicated issue, and I think that the vast majority of the readers will disagree with me at this point, so let me explain my position carefully.

[We were motivated by religion] - TsarnaevHave you ever heard a brutal criminal say "I was motivated by not believing in god to kill these people." Not really a common occurrence, is it? Christopher Dorner was apparently a non-believer, but his actions were obviously not motivated by his non-belief. They were a result of LAPD corruption, a twisted sense of pride, a poor upbringing, and a host of other issues. On the other hand, how many times have the religious fundies openly claimed that they did it for god, or because of god, etc? Case in point, the newest addition to the list are Tsarnaev brothers from Boston.[We were motivated by religion] - Tsarnaev in Deviant Events More Like This
"You can't be moral without god" they say. I can't make such a sweeping statement, but I can make a far more accurate one: "It's more difficult to be stupid without god". It's still easy, but it's just harder to rationalize and validate it internally. The suicide bomber logic: "I'm going to go blow up some random people because my imaginary friend told me so in his holy book."

Study this definition carefully. It does not contain a judgement - it's a statement of fact. Based on this broad definition, there is no doubt in my mind: I am a racist. I'll go much further, and argue that you should be one, too. Not a ra

How to cope with Art BlocksAlmost every single artist has at one point or the other in their life lost motivation, inspiration or even both and without the knowledge of how to deal with what we then call an Art Block, it can take a long time to overcome this lack of artistic drive. A time that might otherwise be used for further improvement and personal artistic growth. How to cope with Art Blocks in Personal More Like This
So today I would like to give you a few tips on how to defeat an art block. There is no definite guarantee to either of them, as everybody experiences their blocking differently but maybe you can at least find small suggestions that will eventually help.
Inspiration is literally everywhere, you just need to open your eyes to see it.
We can find inspiration through:
Letting your favourite books, movies, series or games inspire you is always one of the most obvious ways. Fan Art is a good way to retrieve inspiration because most of all y
How to feel good about your ArtWe've all had those moments as an artist where we just can't seem to like what we're doing, where nothing seems sufficient and everybody else seems to draw so much better than ourselves. There's a few simple things you can do to avoid feeling like that or that you can remind yourself of should you already be right in the middle of this mess. How to feel good about your Art in Personal More Like This
Draw for yourself, not an audience!
The first and probably most important point, especially for any artist on here who in one way or the other seeks feedback and recognition from their fellow deviants. You should never forget that your art is after all YOUR art, so it should be a means to express yourself, relax yourself, be proud of yourself etc and not anyone else. Never let yourself be pressured to do anything you don't want simply because your watchers might demand it or do anything for the sole purpose of getting more attention. It might make you happy in the beginning but loosing track

The possibilities of digital painting and digital art in general are almost infinite. There is basically nothing you cannot do as long as you just know how to approach it. Yet an abundance of programs and tools has both advantages and disadvantages. Knowing what to favour and what to avoid can be both a huge time saver and help you sidestep frustration.
What we will focus on in this article are some basic tools and techniques of digital painting; we'll try to root out pitfalls and see how to avoid them. Mind that all of the points mentioned below aren't rules carved in stone; there are always cases where breaking the rules can be much more fruitful for a certain effect than following them too strictly. With time and practice you will gain good judgment over when to follow the guidelines and when to leave them aside.
Note: Names of certain tools might vary depending on t

I only had time to report one deviation this morning and when I came to report the others this evening, her gallery seemed to be empty, so I assumed all the work had been removed, until I read some of the messages below. I didn't realise you could hide your gallery like that!
I have now reported all 7 deviations....wouldn't it be nice if dA thought of allowing you to do this on one form, if all the work is in one gallery, rather than filling in so many separate forms!
I did send the girl a note this morning, to give her the chance to explain, in case it was some sort of mistake, but had no reply, she just hid her gallery.
Hopefully dA will do something about this!
