Snog Him!"Go ahead. Snog him. You know you want to," Amy urged.Snog Him! in Sci-Fi More Like This
"Mother dear," River said, "I do not snog on command."
"Oh, come on!" Amy said bumping her shoulder with a grin. "When you were Mels..."
"When I was Mels," River said with dignity, "we were both adolescents. I've matured since then." River gave her a repressive look over her shoulder, high on her high horse. Amy just grinned.
They'd just come off an adventure. Another world saved. Another alien invasion thwarted. Another planet of green swampy people free to live their lives in peace.
They were all back in the Tardis, and all still covered in drying swamp mud. The Doctor was grinning and gesticulating, looking totally adorable as he explained to Rory how he'd assembled the complicated technological doo-dad that he'd put together at the last minute to make the invaders' oxygen tanks fritz out.
Rory's eyes were glazing over, as usual.
"So," Amy said, crossing her arms and tipping her head at her daughter. "Since you're too mature to

“I’m ready when you are, Sweetie!” River called from the top of the stairs, she was pulling on a pair of white gloves.
The Doctor looked up and almost swallowed his tongue. River was wearing a tux.
His ears got hot, his eyes felt like they were bugging out, and he was getting cold chills.
She was wearing his top hat, the one from Amy and Rory’s wedding. He loved that hat, it wasn’t a regular stovepipe hat but was slightly short and flared out a bit at the top, it had character.
It looked fantastic perched on River’s curls.
His eyes involuntarily slid lower. She grinned and twirled for him, the tails flaired out, giving a whole new definition of “tails.”
No tux was ever meant to hold that many curves. She definitely filled it out better than he did.
“Uh!” His tongue seemed to have stopped working.
She bounced down the stairs, eyes bright, his white scarf flipping flirtily over her chest.
A Christmas for Two - (River/Doctor)Sometimes the best gifts are the ones you least expect...A Christmas for Two - (River/Doctor) in Sci-Fi More Like This
The Tardis time rotor hummed as it pumped its way cheerfully through the vortex. Christmas music poured out through the sound system.
River waltzed her way around the console, a glass of egg nog held high, “Sleigh bells ring, are you listening, in the lane, snow is glistening, a beautiful sight, we’re happy tonight, waltzing in our winter wonderland...”
“River!” the Doctor said, his eyes wide with delight. “I didn’t know you could sing!”
She grinned at him. “There’s lots of things you don’t know about me, sweetie.” She waltzed over to him and clinked her cup of egg nog against his, it was just the two of them in the Tardis this time. The hallways echoed quietly, only the music and River’s singing ringing back to them.
She swayed back and forth, quite obviously delighted, happier and more relaxed than he’d seen her in a long time.
Grunt - (River/Doctor) One thing married couples have to do, is learn to interpret each other's grunts...Grunt - (River/Doctor) in Sci-Fi More Like This
River pulled down the sheet that covered her face and looked up, bleary-eyed, at the Doctor looming over her in her cell.
"Unh!" She glared at him.
"Did you just grunt at me?" he asked.
She grunted again.
The Doctor grinned like a little boy who'd just discovered his dog could talk. He bounced on his toes and beamed at her. She gave him a dirty look and scrubbed her hands over her weary face and into her tangled hair.
Resigned, she flung aside her prison issue blanket and swung her feet to the floor. She sat up, then hunched over with her face in her hands.
"What do you want, Sweetie?" she asked, trying not to sound as disgusted as she felt.
"Grunt again," he said.
She stared up at him over her fingers. "What?"
He bounced, beaming. "Grunt again. It's cute!"
River groaned into her hands and rocked slightly, finally rocking herself to her feet.
She poked a sharp-tipped fingernail in his chest. "I a

He didn't react to women like this. It was a Time Lord thing. They didn't let you out in the universe without certain precautions, and frankly, there were always so many other interesting things to think about.
But River was different.
There was an understatement. It wasn't that she was conceived in the Vortex. Although that was part of it, she had the same energy running through her as ran through him. The same connection to the Tardis. The same timey-wimey nature.
And that was grand. But it wasn't what was important. Loads of Time Ladies had had that, and he hadn't reacted to them like he did to River.
It wasn't sexual. Okay, it was but it wasn't but it was but it wasn't. This was River after all. He may be a Time Lord, but he was still male. He hoped River never met Jack, the poor man would die of an overload. Or start walking around wearing a short Greek skirt waving palm fronds at her. She'd love that.
Even that's not why he reacted to h
Yes, Yes, Yes"Are you married, River?"Yes, Yes, Yes in Sci-Fi More Like This
Her heart leaped at the question. She stifled it down and concentrated on buckling her vortex manipulator. He'd asked. He actually had asked her to marry him before just taking her agreement for granted up on that pyramid.
Her hearts were beating so fast, and with such joy that she could barely stifle her impulse to jump on him and kiss him all over his pretty young face.
She wanted to dance around. Preferably nude. Preferably with him. She could feel her eyes sparkling with mad joy. He'd actually asked. He'd been interested as far back as this.
"Are you asking?" She wanted to be clear, she wanted it crystal clear what he was asking.
Ooh, smooth talker, that sexy voice.
And she was definitely going to answer. This time she wasn't just following instructions. "Yes."
"No, hang on," he said, panicked, she loved that trapped, horrified look on his face. He was so young, so gorgeous in that tux. A tux for a wedding. Her stomach rolled with gidd

The Doctor plodded down the Tardis corridor. He was so tired.
He didn't usually get tired. Not like this. But even Time Lords can't go on forever. His eyes blinked and his feet dragged. He was too exhausted even to yawn.
He pushed open his bedroom door and stopped in the doorway. River was curled up in his bed, asleep.
He didn't know how she got in. Maybe she waited until he left and stowed away. Or maybe she'd found some way to materialize inside with her vortex manipulator, although that should have been impossible.
Right at the moment he didn't care. Every once in a while she'd just show up, asleep in his bed.
He pulled his bow tie loose with one heavy hand. He tossed his jacket off carelessly and unwound his arms from his braces. He unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it loose and kicked off his shoes. He didn't bother with the rest.
He stumbled toward the bed, his eyesight waverin

Just the sight of her was enough to make his hearts pound with joy.
A flash of tangled curls on a crowded alien street could make him speed up, only to discover it wasn't her at all.
The sight of her face, that strong face. More beautiful to him than any other.
He'd known women more beautiful than River. Strictly speaking, Amy was prettier. Yet it was River that made his hearts pound, made his blood race, made him smile with mad joy, only to wipe it away when she turned, and pretend to be irritated instead.
Oh, how he loved her face. The shape of it, the warmth of it, her soft skin, and the crinkles around her eyes.
He loved her eyebrow that cocked at him in mockery. He loved her nose with that slight bump that made it too strong for beauty, but absolutely perfect for her. He loved her lips, with their lies and their spoilers and their hallucinogenic lipstick. She had killed him with those lips, yet th

"And it just blew up!" the Doctor threw his hands into the air with an exasperated "Spooshing" motion.
"It was a controlled detonation, Sweetie," River said as she walked past him.
He turned and glared at her, "Oi, who's telling it?!"
She shrugged, "Fine, Sweetie, but you're telling it wrong."
The Doctor turned back around and glared grumpily at Martha. "Spoosh!" he said again, his hands expanding. The motion half hidden from his wife by his body.
Martha grinned and bit her lips, staring at that young, mobile face. She'd been invited in for lunch, when she'd walked into the break room and found the Tardis taking up most of the space.
"We're out of cream, dear," River said as she crossed back across the Tardis kitchen behind him, carrying a pair of dishes.
"There's more in the larder," he said, without turning around. He leaned forward toward Martha across the table to regale her

River was in her bath robe. The Doctor squinted at her, no, she was in Amy's bath robe. He felt his hearts squeeze, but also a wry smile lift his mouth. River would never own anything as dowdy as a threadbare fluffy pink bathrobe.
She was wearing her mother's robe. The Doctor's throat closed up. She was coming out of the bathroom, halfway down the hallway. Her hair had that extra bounciness it got just after she'd washed it, when it wasn't quite dry yet. And she was moving like an old woman, as if her very bones hurt.
He ran down the hall and scooped her up in a huge hug. She squeaked in surprise. His hearts were suddenly hurting, but not for the Ponds. For River. How could she think he'd care how old she got? Why would she think she needed to hide any injury or imperfection from him.
Didn't she understand how much he loved her?
"River." He hid his face in her curls, cool against his cheeks. He squeezed her as tightly
