Happy Easter Minna! Once again my parents left me for Vegas (to ref at the qualifier) so I'm stuck back here alone. This means my Uncle and I go out to eat and once again we're going to my favorite place Matsuya. It's a very very long drive, but so worth it. Best sushi and most authentic menu I've ever seen! But even with all that I've been looking at bento blogs and all that recently so I decided I was going to make an Easter Bento. I found some really cute ideas and had to do it! Both the little chickie and the bunny ideas came from Anna the Red, she's so creative! Anyway this bento contains:
107 1/2 cup Rice (Green) 18 Kamaboko Bunny 1 Lettuce Divider 30 Chipotle Chicken Flower 40 Mandarin Orange 2 Small Strawberry 52 Inari (Nest Under Chickie) 39 1/2 Hard Boiled Egg 6 Mini Sweet Pepper 1 Carrot Butterfly
Being the week before Easter I thought it would be fun to do a special little bento. I got the idea for the Rilakkuma Inari from Anna The Red. She's a marvelous bento and plushie maker. If you would like a tutorial on how to make these little guys you can find it here: [link]. They are easy to make so give em a try! This bento contains: 2 Inarizushi (1 Rilakkuma, 1 Regular) Mochiko Chicken (With A Little Decorative Bone Pick) 1/2 Small Sweet Pepper Cut Into Rings Gari (Pickled Ginger) Sliced Strawberry Cilantro Leaves (Decoration)
*Here's a little side note, just to prove that bento makers practice what they preach I'm going to list the calories for this bento below. This is to help show that bento are not just cute or delicious they are also healthy and very reasonable in calories. Please Enjoy!
Bento don't have to be homemade! I had some chinese the other day and I didn't eat it all. So I decided it would make a really nice bento~! The only thing I added was the Asparagus because I wanted some veggie in there. Anyway this bento contains:
Pork Fried Rice Steamed Pork Dumplings Asparagus Dumpling Sauce (Don't ask me what it is all I know is that it tastes good and comes with the dumplings)
hehe I made bento for my brother today! Inspired by annathered's website where she makes all sorts of yummy and totally cute looking bento boxes. This bento took a few hours to make but I think the end result was worth it. Pretty cute! Thanks for taking a look!
In this bento there are: mixed veggies, white rice shaped into a bunny, ears, cheeks, and heart decoration made out of ham, the mouth/nose part made out of turkey, egg sheet blanket, crispy orange chicken, and finally nori seaweed for facial features!
Contains: 2 round salmon filled rice balls (shaped like kitties w/out tails... forgot the tails), 1 boiled egg/halved (yolk was removed and mixed with mayo, a tiny bit of mustard seasoning, parsley and replaced back into the egg. topped with ham hearts) boiled asperagus, Salmon slice (salted), and 2 cherry tomatoes (with homemade flag pick)
OKAY so I happened to be looking at ~RiYuPai's bento here: [link] and read the contents and found out there is a manga about BENTO!!! its called "Hatsukoi no Lunchbox" and i went to look it up and read it. It is such a cute manga and I HIGHLY suggest any bento maker to read this series! It even has how-to recipes at the end of each chapter! It not only tells you a story but shows you how to make certain bento items, tips and tricks, and recipes! It is very inspiring and creative! XD I had to print out all the recipes. I was basically following the bento from the first chapter but instead of baseball i decided i wanted lil kitties! Unfortunately i forgot to make the lil tails but oh well. I made it slightly different so that it wouldn't exactly match the one from the manga! Please check it out and read "Hatsukoi no Lunchbox"! well worth it!
