'IB' - Chapter Ten
Dib walked down the sidewalk appearing more disturbed than he had since this had started. The lingering taste of Zim’s blood seemed to keep him in an almost trance like state as he walked almost unnaturally down the sideswalk. Of course, the boy’s unsettling demeanor attracted more stares from the people around him.
People went from being distasteful and scowling at him, to almost frightened and concerned for the boy. He'd been progressing so quickly to lunacy lately that some people believed it was time he saw someone about it.
This thought of going to see someone though seemed to be out of the question in Dib’s mind. He knew a doctor would only blame it on schizophrenia or just plain insanity and not even try to believe that something was actually going on. He would only be prescribed some drug to try and rid him of ‘the images in his head’.
Perhaps that's what he needed to stay sane though; receive some counseling and a bit of medicin

After several minutes of just staring at the computer in complete terror, Dib turned to the platform and headed towards it. He shut off the lights on his way out, the computer’s bright monitor illuminating the room now. His head turned to look back at it, nodding once as if to thank it before stepping onto the plate in front of him. The platform rose again for him to take him back upstairs into the wreckage. Now he had an answer as to what happened and why Zim was behaving like he was. The better question was, would he regret seeing that though; seeing the complete self-destruction of his now former worst enemy and now current worst nightmare?
The thing that made seeing that video so traumatizing was that he had actually grown to some what care about Zim. Yes, they were enemies both out to stop each other at every turn, but before Zim, he didn’t have a reason to get up every day and go to school. Zim was everything he had always wanted; an alien that had found

Dib’s hurried pace soon slowed to a steady walk as he got closer to Zim’s base. He delayed getting there as he was both afraid and nervous of what he may find here. He actually started to second guess if this was the best thing to do, but he arrived before he knew it. Once it were visible across the road from him, Dib stopped and stared at it for a short time. He drew in a deep breath, whispering unsure words of encouragement before starting closer towards it.
Zim's base looked pretty similar on the outside, except for where his gnomes keeping his house protected had been destroyed. Though, it did seem to have an eerie aura around it which was something that hadn’t been present in the past.
Dib had made it to the front door now, staring upon it as if there were something fairly interesting about it. In reality, he was just preparing himself for what he was sure would be a quite shocking sight. Finally, he pushed the door open and flicked on the lights wi

Resolve came in the form of first sunlight beaming through the shattered hole that was at one point a window. It immediately melted away the shadows and extinguished the coolness that the night had brought. Everything was completely visible now and revealed to the paranoid human.
However, even after the sun had come up, Dib took a while to convince himself that there wasn't actually anything there, and that it had all just been a crazy delusion in his head. After several more minutes of watching everything around him, he had finally convinced himself that he was alone now, which actually relaxed him and made him realize how tired he actually was. It was too late to try and sleep now though since he had to get ready for another dreadful day of school.
He didn't try too hard, though, as he decided to stay in the bloodied and torn cloths from the night before and only ran his hands over his hair in an attempt to smooth it out. He was far too tired and stressed to be concerned

Soon all of Zim's tremors just seemed to halt. He pulled himself back up onto all fours, extending his head up with his neck still cocked at an awkward angle so he could see Dib's face. He parted his lips into the grin again, beginning to screech out in a single laughter with that eerie 'e' sound again.
The sight of that haunting grin seemed to paralyze the boy as he slowly let himself down to the floor, wrapping himself in a fetal position as he rocked himself very stiffly as if to comfort himself. Violent shivers also shook him as the cackle rung in his ears as they only intensified the dread he was already feeling.
Zim slowly began to drag himself over to him, seeing him as wounded prey now. His limbs still had trouble taking turns, looking even more like a creature in dire need of an exorcism.
Dib's eyes expanded as the other drew closer to him. He didn't blink now since in his mind, blinking only made him made him more vulnerable than he already was, even though he wo

Upon arriving home on that quiet, eerie night, Dib was relieved to find that no insane Irken had followed him. He was alone now, and he had the feeling he would have a peaceful night in contrast to the others he had experienced.
As Dib had made his way into the house and up to his room, the lingering smell of day old blood hit him. It wasn’t quite as harsh and foul as the pile of junk found in Zim’s closet. However, it was enough to make the boy groan in both agony and nausea, but the smell didn’t seem to stop him from hobbling to his bed and allowing himself to collapse upon it.
At least he was safe for now, and tonight would be one of the only nights open for him to sleep without much worry. Zim was still too weak to come for him, and the computer was keeping him indoors for tonight.
As Dib lay on his bed with his eyes pealed wide open, he felt himself almost grow drowsy as time proceeded. He even fell into a deep and much needed sleep within fifteen

Dib bit down firmly on his lip before shakily stepping forward and pulling him slowly up the creaky stairs. Since it was dark, he squinted his eyes in an attempt to see a bit clearer in the small amount of light that he had. As he slowly made his way up the stairs, whispering the Irken’s name in an attempt to draw him out from his hiding place. In a situation such as this, Dib preferred to know where Zim was rather than him be out of sight with the possibility of a surprise attack.
After a minute of crawling painfully slow up the stairs, he finally made it to the top with the sight of the illuminated room at the end of the hallway; the same room his sister’s decomposing body lay on the metal table. That light was still on, but there weren’t any sounds. Either the Irken was being especially quiet, or he wasn't there at all.
Dib’s feet were planted deeply where he stood, hesitating to go any closer to the room. Memories and dreadful images of what l

As Dib stood outside of his home, he couldn't help the overwhelming loneliness that washed over him. After the neighbours reaction, he highly doubted anyone would take him seriously. Not like they had taken him seriously before anyway.
On top of the extreme aloneness, the boy was feeling a massive amount of paranoia. His house had proven to be just as dangerous a place to be now, and after seeing how easily and quickly Zim could infiltrate it, he realized he would never feel at peace inside of it. He would always be looking around himself, checking to make sure he was truly alone.
Dib took only small, slow steps towards the house now, his eyes flicking everywhere as he scanned for any threats. He was quite jumpy now though, so when a small leaf flew by him he jumped backwards a step and let out a high pitched scream. He began to breathe rapidly until realizing it was just a leaf before taking a deep breath and staring forward again, his eyes continuing to scan his environm

Dib found himself completely frozen again as the other approached him slowly. It was almost as if time had just stopped completely as each step created more and more anticipation and fear. He could hardly even bat an eye as his gaze was glued on to Zim with no intention of looking anywhere else.
Zim took agonizingly slow steps to him, the laughing dying down to weak 'e' sounds of an eerie laugh. He stopped when he had reached him, eyes turning wild almost instantly. He leaned forward and continued that grin of insanity, looking like he was a wrong breath away from a total meltdown. "I...want to....." The rest turned into garbled nonsense, but he paused, as if he were waiting for an answer now.
Dib didn't seem to catch on to this though as he was too intently focused on the other's horrifying expression, sending shivers down his spine the longer he stared at it. He considered running, but of course his body wouldn't even allow him to move a finger as he stood perfectly still

Dib remained in an almost trance-like state for a few moments as he recalled a few memories of Zim. He took another deep breath before speaking again in a quiet tone. “Zim... He was pretty interesting.”
"Yes? What is his personality like?" The doctor questioned, beginning to write again at the others decision to elaborate more on the subject.
Dib slowly looked back to the doctor, shifting in his seat as he considered the question. “Well, he was loud and obnoxious and would often insult the human race whenever he had the chance to. But, he was very proud of his race and his leaders. He made every attempt to take over Earth even if he failed every time. But I liked that about him...” Dib’s voice trailed off some as his gaze lowered. “I admired that about him actually..”
Dr.Gaul hummed and nodded his head a bit. "Well, I can only chalk this up as more schizophrenia from how you say this. You seem very fond of this little delusion as

Dib stared at Zim wide-eyed in panic as he approached him slowly, backing up a few clumsy steps before bumping into the fence behind him. He looked over his shoulder and eye it, dreading the fact that he had to climb the damned thing if he wanted to avoid the same fate his teacher had met.
After glancing back at Zim another time, seeing that he was getting closer to him quicker than he thought, he turned and faced the fence and backed up a few steps. He drew a shaky breath before running at it and making a leap as he got close to the fence, grunting as he hit it and started his desperate climb.
A screech of obvious rage exploded from the hobbling being that was trailing far behind his escaping form. “IB!!!!” The name practically pierced through the air as wild eyes, even through those contacts, locked onto him frighteningly and his arms outstretched in a dire want to rip the other from the rusty chained fence.
The screech shook the boy, causing his grip to sli

When Zim came to it was completely dark. He could vaguely remember waking up a few other times but had quickly been drugged again before he could get his bearings. Now he had absolutely no idea where he was.
Slowly his eyes began to adjust to the dark and he could only just make out the wooden crate he was trapped inside. Trapped! He was trapped and couldn't get out! His heart began to pound as panic rose up inside of him, forcing away all sense and reason. He scrabbled; twisting around in the tiny space as he desperately looked for any way out. He was an Invader, and Invaders could not be contained!
All of a sudden the crate bumped joltingly and light flooded in from a sliding opening. Zim didn't think twice before he shot out of the crate like a bullet, blinded by the sudden bright light he ran until he careened head first against a tree, abruptly stopping his panicked flight.
He blinked dizzily and looked up stupidly at the tree he had smashed into at top speed. T

It was dark by now, the stars just beginning to peep out in the sky while the sickle-moon shone faintly through the smog of the city. Zim walked down the sidewalk with his fists clenched angrily at his sides. Hours of walking looking for GIR and the little SIR Unit had been back at the base the entire time! That horrible robot! Next time Zim would make sure GIR would tell him when he was going out and exactly where he was going.
Suddenly Zim stopped mid-stride, looking back over his shoulder. For the past block and a half a suspicious looking bush had been shadowing him and sure enough it was still there, only five feet from him now. Zim narrowed his eyes. "Dib, this is your most pitiful spying attempt yet." He said. The bush rustled and the unmistakably big head of Dib popped out of the top. "Took you long enough to notice." Dib sneered. "Did you only just now realize I was here?"

They padded along in silence then, making their way deeper and deeper into the savannah. Occasionally Zim and Dib caught glimpses of other animals, but Simba and Nala seemed intent upon where they were going and never slackened their pace.
Zim noticed Simba staring at him, his feline eyes practically burning holes into him. Somewhat irritated, Zim ignored him and focused on the ground beneath his paws, but he could still feel the lion cub's searing gaze, and it was beginning to make him feel uncomfortable.
"What?!" Zim finally snarled, snapping his head up until his violet eyes locked with Simba's amber. Simba never answered him but instead leaned toward Dib. "Hey, why is your friend green?" He whispered, although Zim could hear him perfectly well. Dib shot Zim a smug look. "Yeah, Zim. Why are you green?" He asked with a grin.
"You know perfectly well." Zim almost answered out loud, but he wasn't about to let his ingenious cover be blown so easily. Not with S

It has been two weeks since the friendship was made official. And every night Dib would dream off all the good things that would happen to Zim but never the bad.
He dreamt of the good times they had together, and what Zim eats and all the silent hugs Zim has with Gir. He dreams of the times when Zim goes out to steal those Chaco Tacos for Gir. He dreams of the times when Zim only fells good inside and he feels these good, warm, fuzzy feelings to.
Zim often talks to Gir, about past times and things that have happened before Gir and Zim met and Dib dreamt about these conversations. Almost all of them He is still oblivious to Zim leaving, or the mission, or the girls in which Zim has to save.
Dib does, in fact, know of Zim's Brother Dax, dead sister Zeema, his Parent-units, family-unit, the Tallest and many other things of his life. But anything to do with the mission or the girls is, for some reason, blocked.

Zim couldn't wait to go to this sleepover. Exciting! He had told Gir he was coming, and Gir jumped with glee.
Dib had given a note to Zim listing everything that he needed to bring to the sleepover, after skool.
1. Sleeping bag.
3. Night goggles
6. Silver bullet
7. Small sleeping bag for Gir
Zim had looked up before what a sleeping bag was and he now knew what it is used for. He had called the computer and told it to make two sleeping bags during skool.
Now, at home, he packed what was needed. He put the bullet, goggles, stake, and radio in his PAK. He put the Garlic in a bag and put it in his PAK. Then asked the computer where the sleeping bags were.
The computer dropped the two perfectly made sleeping bags. One was blue like Gir's eyes, with a black Irken symbol on the front and the other, the one for Zim, was red and had the Irken symbol on the front. Zim grabbed the bags and went to the elevator. He still didn't know, he just figured Zim would leave if he saw the lasers, choking devices, many hand cuffs, plans to stop Zim's plans and spying equipment.
When he was done throwing the junk in his closet, under his bad, in his drawers and anywhere else the stuff could fit, he went down stairs to make him and Gaz afternoon snacks; he didn't want Zim to see him eat, considering Zim doesn't eat.
Zim entered his base, only to be crashed down by a flying Gir.

Zim did, in fact, hear the 'Wait!' Dib shouted, but he ignored him. Zim was on the couch and Gir was asleep in his lap. It has been an hour since he left and Dib has called him repeatedly since he left. Zim had also got word that skool was to end on Tuesday, not Friday; so Zim only had two days until he leaves for his mission.
'I guess I'm going to skip skool tomorrow. I really don't want to see Dib.' Zim decided. He then went to sleep, and went through dreams; not to wake until Tuesday morning...

Zim’s wrists were badly bruised, most likely because of how recklessly I grabbed them, how tight I held them into place. He was shivering possibly because he had slept on the cold floor all night long. . .
I carefully lifted his head, careful to not wake him, and placed it on my lap. Why had I done that? I’m no better than him, actually compared, mine was worse. . .

In biology Gaz sat flustered, and completely unwilling to continue, when Zim sat beside of her.
"Gaz-beast, can I the almighty ZIM, sit next to you?" He asked.
Gaz looked at him and shrugged, "Whatever."
Zim smiled, but his mind was in other places. He was wondering why he loved being so close to her. He couldn't help but sit next to her, and he felt so happy when he did. Zim felt a sort of longing when she was not near him. He did not understand why, but he did not question it.
The teacher walked in, "Hello class, I am Mr.

Dib waited angrily outside of the hi-skool. He passed back and forth, waiting for his sister and for Zim.
Time ticked by, and he felt like crying. Why would Zim steal his only safe heaven? How would he? Why would he? Dib begged his brain for the answers that seemed so obvious.
Finally, it was three and the teens and young adults began to run out of the building.
Dib rang his knuckles, he meant business. Then to his dismay, he saw Zim, walking closely beside of Gaz. Gaz was actually smiling and laughing at something Zim had said. That was the final straw, Dib ran up to them.
"Hey Zim!" Dib yelled, making Zim look up. Suddenly pain went though Zim's squeedlyspooch and he knelt on the ground. Dib had just struck him
Zim stood and struck Dib in the face, knocking off his glasses. Dib growled, and went to hit Zim back, but Gaz grabbed his arm, "W

Dib took this as a bad sign but he still got up, and went to the restroom. He finally after months looked well rested, but his hair was still in a type of bed head mode.
He brushed it out and then proceeded to brush his teeth; he needed to look nice for his Dad, who he only sees a couple times a year.
Dib ran to his room and quickly put on his clothes. Then he proceeded to Gaz's room to wake her up. Nerveless he found that she was not there; he shrugged guessing that she probably got an early start, and was on her way to skool. Little did Dib know that he was right, but not with someone he would like her to be with.
He ran down the stairs, and into the kitchen. His Dad greeted him with what appeared to be a smile, "Why hello son!"
"Hey Dad." Dib said while sitting at the kitchen table.
"Dib my boy, where is your sister?" Asked Pro

GIR then stood and silenced, because he heard his master yelling and screaming in the other room. It always made GIR sad to hear his master be like that.
GIR then ran to the front door, he was going to leave to go to one of his favorite clubs, but before he went out the door, something caught his eye.
The note that Zim, carelessly discarded, it was lying on the floor beside the trashcan. GIR smiled, and went over to pick up the note, because he was even curious to what the note said.
Gir then yelled, "I'ma gonna read this up!"
Then he picked up the note, and scurried to the sofa. He sat down excitedly, and laughed for reasons unknown.
He opened the note and started to read, his smile growing wider as the words progressed.
"Mastah needs to read this! It's so cute, aw Gazzy." He squirmed. He could

Silence seemed to take over Zim and Gaz. Zim did not know how to break the silence, or how to talk to Gaz.
Gaz on the other hand wished for Zim to end said silence. She'd rather him make the mess, that she would not have to help clean up. So she waited.
Zim- who could now sit up on his own, but only in moderation- sat up, and decided it was time to break the silence.
He coughed, "Gaz, I have a question."
Gaz opened one eye, "What is it?"
Zim tugged at the collar of his shirt, "Well I just- ZIM would like to know why we haven't spoken much." Zim clenched his fists waiting for the worse.
"I really don't know Zim. I guess it's because I've been think too much." She replied, allowing Zim to settle.
"Thinking about what?" He asked, while she sat on the bed.
"Oh- a couple of random thoughts." Zim smiled at her response, and positioned himself next to her, letting out a huff of pain.
He leaned on her so he could breathe, which was hard for him to do when sitting upright. His eye
Invader zim: Hi-Skool (chapter 5)"What do you mean?" Asked Gaz, shock finally in her voice.Invader zim: Hi-Skool (chapter 5) in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"I am no longer an invader, or at least and Irken one. They lied to me for so many years, the Tallest they told me a lie to just get rid of me. They banished me to this filthy ball of- of- DIRT." He cried.
"They told me that if I ever contacted them, or even tried to leave Earth they would kill me on the spot." He finished.
Gaz could not believe her ears, not an invader. Was lied to! Gaz then could not help but ask, "Why are you telling me this?"
Zim looked at her deep into her eyes, his blue contacts dark and sad, "Because you're the only pig-smelly that I can trust.
Gaz felt the strange urge to smile again, but resisted. They both remained silently staring at each other, now with a new respect.
The computer broke the silence, "My lord, it is almost midnight. I suggest you get some rest, you will need it for skool tomorrow."
Zim nodded in agreement, "Yes, so do you Gaz."
Gaz yet again was left in a state of shock; d
