The “alternative universe” has long been a sci–fi trope, usually simply a good–guy bad–guy heroes and villains reversal. Like the Star Trek episode (“Mirror, Mirror”) in which a transporter glitch lands Kirk on an evil pirate “parallel universe” Enterprise where Spock is a goateed murderer with mutiny on his agenda. But real scientists have complicated things considerably, with “string theory” positing at least eleven (and possibly an infinite number) of “alternative/parallel universes.”
Once upon a time, we pondered our relative insignificance as sin

Johnny Cash was without a doubt one of the most influential, acclaimed, and popular singer–songwriters of the last century.
February 26 would have been his 82nd birthday. Many of Cash’s recordings are now almost universally known—songs like “I Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues.” As a result of his work he has been inducted into the Country Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

DRAGON CASTLE by randis
According to the Chinese zodiac, 2012 has ushered in the year of the dragon upon the world stage.
In addition to occupying an ages old position in our cultural consciousness, legend and folklore surrounding
the dragon mythology has long been firing the kiln of our dreams with fright and menace. When we are speaking of
Dragons, we are speaking from ancient texts gathered form the beginnings of kept records of any kind and fro

StarCraft II is the hot tournament videogame that just may breakthrough as the harbinger of the esports phenomenon and one of the great cultural game-changers of all time.
Midnight in Anaheim. Caffeinated casters boom rapid fire commentary rattling the packed hall. Elite Starcraft players from around the globe execute complex strats that would have made Rommel the Desert Fox himself proud. 20,000 are in attendance, on the edge of their seats, and cheering as loudly as any soccer match as they watch the 30-foot screens hanging from the rafters. Another four and a half million are watching the streams live. The feeling is that of an NCAA Final Four game, set in a European soccer stadium, somehow shoehorned into a casino showroom in Las Vegas. It’s all of the skill, the fan devotion and the spectacle anyone could pos

Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq

How to stay MotivatedHow to stay Motivated. How to stay Motivated in Personal More Like This
I’m writing this article for the type of people who say that just can’t find motivation to:
Make a portfolio
Finish a painting
Work on their personal project
I got three tips I’m about to write, and it’s just advice and things that I found useful for myself. If you are capable to do any of these things you should definitely try them.
Fear. Get rid of it. If you are fearful of the outcome it will unmotivate you immediately. Just finish whatever it is and think about how you can improve after. If you can’t see what you need to improve ask someone else to tell you. There is always room to improve, and if you go into a critique with an open mind you will grow exponentially.
Think of it like this. If you were running one lap, and half way through you stopped because you were afraid you were going to throw up or pass out, you will never really know how fast you can run that lap. You didn’t push yours
the myth about talentMany people are under the assumption many of the high profile artists in the digital art community are mainly good because of talent. This is not completely true(in my opinion). What does make them great is the simple fact of constant and regular practice. But if you still like to cling to the word, then talent is just in other words an ambition and motivation. This word,"talent" has been branded with something that you think is something that can only be inherited and if you dont have it you are doomed to fail. Many people has lost potential careers because of this.the myth about talent in Personal More Like This
well folks let me put that myth to rest because i think anyone with ambition and motivation can learn any tool and any skill. And if you are not learning it, it is because you are not working hard enough on it.its simple as that. The practice will open your eyes and you will develop to see things in different ways, once again this has nothing to do with talent. Once your understanding of all the levels of art gets wide
the importance of failingsOften times i see many artists on all levels expressing their expectations from their current progress and seeing it as they fail. They feel this way because the type of level that is set is not only high but its constantly changing to grow higher even as they are progressing passed levels of artistic skills.the importance of failings in Personal More Like This
Imagine a horse rider holding a fishing pole with sugar(your artistic level you want to reach) by the end of the string. And you the artist is the horse pursuing it.You are progressing forward but your goal is also being set higher as you progress.
And of course you will never ever reach the level that is constantly changing and i think this is an idea that every eager and striving artist should be comfortable with. To be comfortable with failing. This is not to say that you wont reach new levels , because you will. The levels you set up when you started out are much lower then the levels you set in your current phase.
The tough part is of course to stay on trac

Early encouragement and the long road of passion."One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses." Dale CarnegieEarly encouragement and the long road of passion. in Personal More Like This
If you have started something that you love, and have received some measure of recognition, be thankful for it.
Enjoy it. But don't build your life on it.
Don't be discouraged if, on the other side of recognition, there is a silent space where it is just you learning and doing what you love.
Believe it or not, the silent space is one of the coolest places on earth. Its peaceful, and it is a place of deep discovery.
IMO, this is where the real art occurs... when few see, agree, or even notice.
Persist. If you love what you are doing, keep going. Practice gratitude. Refine. Define. Listen. Experiment.
In some ways, as crazy as it may sound, you might find that you even prefer this place of just you and the craft....

How To Find Freelance Illustration Work. Part OneUnless you're already a well-known illustrator it can be tough to find work that allows you to earn a living, even with a solid portfolio and professional attitude – in this article I'm going to assume you already have those basics covered. Promoting ourselves is something we need to learn the same way we learn to draw: with a lot of trial and error attempts because no single way works for everyone. There is no clear path to become established. There are, however, a few basic approaches that everyone can rely on.How To Find Freelance Illustration Work. Part One in Art Features More Like This
There are two ways to get illustration jobs: Those that find and contact you (passive) and those that you find and contact (active).
In this first part I'll talk about how potential clients can discover you.

So for a few rules ...
It will purely be a FANART contest and as it's their group it must feature both :iconHarukaNanaseplz::iconRinMatsuokaplz:.

Additionally One-Shot (one page) Coloured FanComics are acceptable but Doujinshi are not.
Can be Digital or Traditonal. But bases are NOT acceptable.
On this occasion also I am not accepting Generbends or Collabs.
