I love the part of the forest where darker/denser parts transition into lighter/open parts... the contrast is so nice :) .. Scene One coming soon ;)

Finland.

Had to walk here a long way on snowmobile trails in -25C weather looking for a sunset shot. It was sunny all day, of course it went cloudy just as I arrived here. I think I still got an ok shot.

Same place in summertime:

Hehe, both summer and winter shots have almost identical composition. Didnt really try to. Took several shots both times, I guess that was the best point. Try to make it different next time.

Before sunrise is a time when everything is still & quiet and for a few minutes it offers some great faint light to photograph in. I shot this scene watching the pink hues begin to light the sky up over the Indian Peaks and just sort of sat there and thought how the world was still asleep while something completely beautiful was happening and yet they were all missing it. I guess that is one of the reasons why I wake up at 3am to be on location, to see things most people never will and to gaze in awe at the tranquility & beauty which I am able to witness.

Photographed this past Fall in Rocky Mountain National Park during my annual meetup, it is utterly amazing how many images I took this year and it is utterly awesome how overwhelmed I feel at trying to even make a dent in processing them all. I wonder if any of my fellow photographers often feel the same? It is, by all accounts a very daunting task trying to wade through some 32,000+ images from Fall alone. The backlog never ends it seems as I continue to photograph as much as I possibly can and while at times I really wish I could stop the clock for awhile just to get caught up, I gladly wouldn't have it any other way. I have always said that the taking of the photograph is only part of the joy, the other is the experience it very self, something which is impossible to communicate in a simple photograph. As far as this image and technical stuff? Shot in HDR in camera with my A550, Fotodiox CPL and Grad ND. I Hope you all enjoy it.

Finally had a decent snowfall in Denver and I decided to head out to Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in hopes of photographing some wildlife in the freshly fallen snow. Needless to say I got my wish and came home with a lot of images of different wildlife. This is one of those shots. I've had this photograph in mind for quite some time now; a Cottontail Rabbit in freshly fallen snow and is one that has eluded me for quite a few years. Thankfully I found several of these guys who made for great and worthy models. I really wanted a B&W image, something that would be a little on the high key side of things which would have some 'pop' to it. Always fun to get an image that you have been chasing for a long while.

When the fog lifts - the frost on the tress can be spectacular.
