Authentic CitizenshipOnce Again, The Room Fell Away. The prodigious artistic and cultural exchange that we have all committed ourselves to building, to participating in and to sharing with each other every day at deviantART often occurs in RL on the decks of HQ as well. One of the best aspects of being in my position here at deviantART is the privilege to curate salons with artists of every medium and success level imaginable, art appreciators, writers, and educators from all points of light within the deviantART community inviting them to make the trek to HQ for what always manifests as an inspiring, thoughtful, educative, and enlightening dialogue. But sometimes, sometimes, things rise to a whole other level. You suddenly find yourself magically reaching that special deviantART "destination" that is a connection point of art, life, community and communication that has no specific Office # designation. Cthulhu is Still CallingThe Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acquired self-awareness and began trying to explain themselves to themselves as they sat round their fires built at the mouths of their caves.Cthulhu is Still Calling in deviantART Blog More Like This

Right brain warriors in the new age will be the coveted candidates ordained to lead and guide us; lifting the torch to light the way forward into a brave new beautiful world.
Artists have always feared that they are unappreciated and that the march of progress comes only from business, science and their machines. 1984 was imagined by an artist projecting these exact fears. Our guest essayist suggests the computer will never be our master, but only the super high speed counting machine it was meant to be leaving humans with only one pure task— being creative.

Shisha Pipes at Three A.M. ...There's nothing quite like sitting back on pillows in a dim room with painted murals and UV lights discussing the problems of the world and how we can change the future for the better through the aromatic smoke of several shisha pipes with complete strangers. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone.Shisha Pipes at Three A.M. ... in Personal More Like This
I feel like I can change the world. Maybe not in big ways, but in small, baby steps. I want to finish this animation, I want to get my message out. I want to make a graphic novel that underlines current issues through the eyes of my characters; I want to make a difference. I feel justified in knowing I'm not the only one who thinks like this.
I want to change the world.
... Damn, this sounded so much better in my head at 3a.m. in the cafe toilets when I thought of it.

I thought people only cosplayed famous characters?
And I am super excited to see photos this time around, especially since she's outdoing herself yet again and making new, more exact costumes ...
Sneak-peaks, what a tease!
I am so flattered that people like my characters enough to want to cosplay them, especially when they do such a bang-up job of it. I will not be there, because I live all the way on the other side of the world in Singapore, but anyone over there do say hi! They're friendly people!

AquaTalk: ChencoIlufiHello watercolorists! It's time for another installment of AquaTalk! As you know, each month, we will choose a member of #watercolorists to interview. This month we interviewed ~ChencoIlufi. What I really like about his work is that he doesn't take the easy way out, his backgrounds are very elaborate and he often chooses the most complicated perspective! We could all learn from his bravery. I had a blast selecting his artwork for this feature, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Goodbye 2011I won't miss you. There were a lot of good things that happened to me this year, and a lot of good memories to go with them....but I'm not sad to see it go. There was a lot of sadness, and a good deal of loss, unforgettable memories nonetheless. I'm glad to have made new friends, kept a hold on old and dear ones, and somehow keep ahold of my senses while I was at it! But I didn't really have that much to begin with....hmmm. Anyway, I look forward to 2012. Thank you 2011Goodbye 2011 in Personal More Like This
Get your wooden ARSE back in there!!!!Or, How persnickety and Old-Falling-Apart Chairs Make Me Shout at the Darned Inanimate ObjectGet your wooden ARSE back in there!!!! in Personal More Like This
Ahhhh.......the things I shout at inanimate objects. This time was the aforesaid falling apart chair which I happen to be sitting on, and, being the fidgety person that I am, when I tried to adjust it, the back Popped off.
I confess, when I am frustrated by something, I have an unholy urge to shout at it, thinking that it will somehow help.....Pfffff. It never helps. Ever. But this time I shouted at the chair something which, in my opinion( which, as we all know is just ooooh so humble), was kind of funny....though I didn't realize it until dear ~EllaNyx came in after hearing my heated exclamation all the way in her room and, not quite believing that such a thing was said and yet believing it simply because it was I who said it, demanded to know what on earth had possessed me to say such a thing. After explaining to her the Story of That Darned Chair

Saturday mornings are super again. Harkening back to the glory days the 1970s and '80s when kids got their weekends going with Super Friends and School House Rock, Cartoon Network is launching DC Nation, a programming block that showcases the heroes of the DC Comics library. Anchoring the hour will be the CGI show Green Lantern: The Animated Series (10am/9c) and the continuation of the first season of Young Justice (10:30am/9:30c). Scattered Throughout the hour are animated shorts and interstitials with news and vignettes from around the DC universe.
Though some of the shorts feature big names like Superman and Batman, many will put the spotlight on "characters we've always wanted to see animated, but that might not be able to support a whole series," says Peter Giardi, senior vice president at Warner Bros. Animation, which is coordinating the block. Among the second-tier characters featured are Black Lightenin

One of my favorite things about StoryboardsIs coming up with your own method to drawing characters. It's like, making them your own and suddenly it feels like I'm doing boards of my own characters and having them play out in ways unique to me. I constantly struggle with this, ever since I got hired doing board revisions, but as time goes on and I've been watching other artists here in the studio do their thing, I've been inspired time and again to make the characters more and more my own. I may start posting some bot art, obviously nothing from the show because that's a no no, but basically just little doodles in the fashion I enjoy drawing them. One of my favorite things about Storyboards in Personal More Like This
