"Well ladies and gentlemen, it's been a long road, but the ERA 22 Player Verses Player Tournament is officially over! Congratulations Emeraude on winning the championship!"
Lance fidgeted slightly in his seat, knowing the entire stadium was watching him. It was one thing to be fighting in front of almost a thousand people, but sitting still doing nothing seemed to be a whole other story. He looked slightly to his right to where Emeraude sat. She saw him looking and gave a sheepish smile in return. After she had calmed down she had almost become a different person again, back to her sweet self. Still, Lance tensed up a little and sat back, looking straight in front of him. Not because he was afraid of Emeraude. Or because he felt guilty looking at her bandage on her right shoulder where his Zirus bullet hit her. It was because she had her boyfriend there standing beside her, his purple gaze watching him carefully. Where was Damien? He should have been here by n

Lance's eyes widened almost impossibly as they glimpsed the familiar binary trace of Zirus on the bullet speeding towards his opponent. The blond felt his chest tighten with panic instantly. How? What? Who? A million questions threatened to overwhelm his mind as Lance watched helplessly after the bullet left the barrel of his gun. Emeraude could instantly see something wrong as well, the slight Winwintarian's gaze flying open as she saw the unusual bullet.
In the crowd, various avatars tensed up as they observed what was unfolding right before their eyes. Confusion blanketed over everyone, from the unknowing civilians and the warring fractions of Firewall and Virus. But while the civilians watched in silent fascination, the unseen members of the hidden organisations tensed. This was the first time that such a public attack had been made with a weapon. After all, the codes of both sides discouraged using their weapons in public. And now now everyth

The standoff lasted an eternity. But then finally finally Emeraude lowered her key. She didn't deactivate it though. "Fine. Talk. Explain just how and why you decided to shoot me with Zirus." Lance almost uttered a prayer of thanks to some unseen deity, but he held himself steady and calm. He lowered his gun as well, feeling his feet meet the ground on a far sturdier level. The Surgeon's hand was still clamped firmly around his neck. Just in case.
It was a compromise that Lance was quite happy to take.
"Look there's been a few things going on with this PVP event from the very start. It's all been leading up to this. We don't know what but I'm certain this bullet has something to do with it." He sighed. "They are called 'Catalyst'. I didn't know what they were planning but I can safely assume that they wanted us to delete each other in full view for everyone to see." Emeraude's grip held firm, her expression not changing. But she was clearly

It was time.
Five minutes to go and the crowd had almost screamed itself hoarse. A holographic timer had appeared in the middle of the field, counting down the last handful of minutes until the big showdown would commence. In the middle of the field a lone avatar walked, thick rimmed glasses on his face along with a full head of girlish white hair. Devoth was a regular judge who often preferred the safety of the judge's box to avoid injury, so it was only NATURAL to send him into the middle of a blood-thirsty crowd.
He gave a nervous smile before putting on his best ringmaster impersonation. Wild beasts never knew you were terrified if you didn't look terrified, after all. Didn't help that if he said something that no one liked they could beat him up oh god oh god oh god oh god--
"WELCOME~ ♥ Welcome, welcome WELCOME EVERYONE~~~!!!" The crowd roared in approval as Devoth waved his hands about, his voice booming about the stadium. Giving a quick adjustmen

Bang! Bang! Bang bang!!
Confetti fireworks exploded about the sky, the crowd's cheer growing louder and louder with each one until it hit a fever pitch. There was only half an hour until the long awaited final match of the ERA 22 Player Versus Player event was to start. The conditions were perfect as well: clear blue sky, light puffy clouds, and an audience hungry to see two of Cyberpolis' best to go head-to-head towards each other. It was the perfect set up to a perfect day. At least, that's how the Civilians of Cyberpolis saw it.
Lance, the first finalist, was far from excited.
"The PVP Finals, huh?" The young blonde bit his lip lightly as he looked down at the arena from the Fighter's Box Tower high above. He could see all the heads of every individual avatar that had turned up for today for the match of the ERA. Just two avatars left and only the best would survive. His opponent's name was Emeraude and she had built quite the reputation as she clim

Teeth gritting, green eyes flashing, Lance bit down on his urge to elicit any more sound that would reveal the extent to which the loss of feeling in his right leg was affecting him. The petite blonde surgeon had been too quick and too efficient in zeroing in weak spots and openings. Damn medical personnel, they were just too sharp. This one was sneaky as well; not that Azrael was any different but at least the dark-haired Winwintarian was on his side.
This was exactly why he was gay-
Women were too scary.
Drops of perspiration were beading on his temples as the gears in his head started going faster, as he very quickly measured out his options. He had to remove himself from the hold of her steel strings and put in some more distance between the two of them. He had to make her believe that he wasn't confident fighting close range. Emeralds narrowed as he raised his weapon, leveling the gun point blank against Emeraude's chest. It was now or never; he cannot risk the loss of his legs.
