DC is holding an art contest to pick new talent to work on the upcoming Harley Quinn comic series. As part of the contest you have to draw Harley naked in a bathtub about to kill herself. You can read more about the contest here: www.dccomics.com/node/305151
Given that this came about one week prior to national suicide awareness week, and given that the rules stipulate that you MUST draw this scene even if you don’t want to in order to be eligible, a lot of people are naturally offended at DC’s poor taste.
Here’s how I would’ve tackled the scene while staying true to her psychotic character, keeping the same theme of the bath-tub and electrical appliances, not glorifying or sexualizing suicide, and not objectifying Harley as eye-candy for a presumed male audience.
I feel like theres a story behind this picture, but I have no idea what it is. It just raise so many questions: What are their names? In which part of the world are they? How did they meet each other, and why did they stay together? Is the Buddhist monk getting ready to fight, or is he hiding the sword away to avoid a confrontation? If so, who is he hiding it from?
I like to think that they dont understand each others language yet except for a few words theyve learned, and that the Catholic monk is having some quite sinful thoughts about his partly naked Buddhist friend. Which raise a new question; does the Buddhist monk know? And if he does, how does he feel about that?
If any of you have answers for any of these questions Id like to know, so that maybe one day theyll have their own backstories.
Everybody knows Santa’s sledge is pulled by reindeer, lives somewhere cold and even the Finns say he lives in Lapland.
In other words, Santa is a Sami. Just look at this [link] and deal with it.
The Sami people are the “Indians” of the North and they belong in the same group as Native Americans and Aboriginals. They live in Lapland, an area that stretches from north Norway over Sweden and Finland to Russia.
I would have liked there to be more characters in the comic, but I don’t have a lot of time to draw today, so this will have to do.
and this is how it all used to look about .. wow allmost 10 years ago, this was when i started shaping ravine
many things changed, stylistic aproach, designs, storytelling and story itself but my desire to make an epic love story with deep character development and ritch mythos remained and real soon it will all see the light of day
one of the greatest witchblade bearers, and one of the six known to take part in union of the artifacts. in her case dutring the war of the ragnarok also known as the war of the rings....no not that ring XD

I was at geek ground zero (Fan Expo Canada 2013) when the news dropped that Ben Affleck was gonna be the next Batman. I personally have nothing against Affleck and I had no desire to see anymore Batman films anyhow (especially not ones with the new "Man of Steel"), but there were a lot of people kvetching and complaining about it at the con and on the internet.
All this backlash, including a very loud and obnoxious Batman costumer who kept yelling about it and thought he was hilarious, now has me coming out in full support of Ben Affleck as Batman. In fact, Sarah and I want to see an ALL BEN AFFLECK JUSTICE LEAGUE MOVIE.
Ben Affleck, Ben Affleck, Ben Affleck, and Ben Affleck star in BEN AFFLECK!
We even want him to play all the villains...and the hall of Justice. This just goes to show you there's nothing that a metric crap-ton of unneccessaraly hostile kneejerk fan reaction can't inspire me to support. LET'S PETITION THE WHITE HOUSE AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
XD Personal angst art ahoy! First of all! This isn't a cry for help in any way, in fact this has really helped me. Depair is not a nice feeling to go through and it can creep up on you when you're not expecting it. and it makes you suffer, but to personify it in this way was a big help for me to address the issue and get it on the page and off my back (so to say), and step back and giggle at the situation. This is how it felt physically for me, a sharp pain that grew and grew and grew, weighing me down. It should have been represented by a leech or tick or something sucky, sucking the life outta me (as it feels like it does), but I like spiders ^__^ This was a suprisingly quick comic for me to do, so that alon cheered me up!
For because she is wonderful and caring and she drew me this today to cheer me up:
I've been meaning to finish this for a long time. The image came into my head and would not leave me alone and made me guffaw out loud... GOL!
This was originally going to be a dream Nerk was having, but it turned into some awesome comic cover of 70's fantasy novel cover. I think I was subconciously thinking about Gentleman Broncos when I came up with this.
Nerk belongs to Kat's, The Ugly Vampire comic. ^__^
