I generally don't use a contract if the art I'm going to do is not for commercial purposes or the cost is under $100. What is art for commercial purposes? If the commissioner or client is going to use this image for monetary gain or advertising, that makes it commercial. I know the actual laws on the subject are more complicated, but that's a quick rule of thumb I use. Be wary of a client who doesn't want your signature on it. Even if they say they're not using it for commercial purposes, the unwillingness to let you sign your work may be an indication that they're not being entirely honest. A contract may be useful in this instance just in case.
It's not rude to ask for a contract. You are protecting yourself *and* your client. Any client with an interest in being fair will not object. You're not being pretentious. You may feel awkward asking for one at first, but it d

My name is Reese. I'm Nuisance's nephew for lack of a better term. I'm 14 years old, male and where I live is too much information for me to give out. Sorry. But this is the internet and you know how it goes.
I don't currently have a social networking address or page or account anywhere. I don't actually want one. I am sure you can imagine what this has done for my social standing at school. No texting plan on a basic cell phone, no Facebook, no Twitter, no nothing! And that's how I like it. Quiet. Nice. &. Quiet.
I don't need any more distractions because I have always been a distracted person. It's not psychological. I have been tested from one end of the spectrum to the other and even medicated when I shouldn't have been. I've had the physical tests, which I didn't like very much. Okay, I actually hated it. I was mad at my mom for that for a really long time. I am distracted because I live in a world where I see and hear things others don't. I know too much.

Some advice on doing commissions, professional, commercial and contracted art.
Make sure you are paid what it's worth to you.
Do a test run on a portion of what is being asked of you before you say yes or no. Time yourself. Multiply that by the volume of work you have to do, so you know about how long it will take.
Once you've done that, multiply that time by the required minimum wage in your state/country. If you are being offered less than that, then you should inform the client. If the pay is not raised? Run. Head for the hills. This is a contractor that doesn't give a shit about you and is willing to sacrifice you, your time, and your dignity to get what they want.
If you are okay working for this rate, let them know that a pay rate less
Hey! That's my name!I am sure this happens to a lot of people. A character on a show, in a game or in a book is the same as yours. For some people, I'm sure it happens so often that you get used to it. Or maybe you don't. I can't be sure, because I've never had it happen to me.Hey! That's my name! in Personal More Like This
My name is rare. I have never met, in person, anyone else with it. I've heard of four of them because I look for it. I've even seen two on the news. One was a male baseball player (minor leagues, spelled different) and the other got her 15 minutes of fame for killing someone famous and then turning the gun on herself (spelled the same, got it by name change).
In all my life, I have only had one thing with my name on it (not written in marker for ID purposes), and it had to be special ordered.
I hated my name as a kid because no one could pronounce it correctly at school. (In retrospect, I realized that the fault was not with me or my name, but with teachers who were lazy and couldn't be bothered to take a second to sound it out.)
The Impossible CharacterI have this character. I love him to little pieces. If you've watched me for any extended period of time, you know him by now. It's Reg Lahey. Big blue eyes, fantastic tattoos, even better hair, allergic to everything and a little more neurotic than he's willing to admit to himself. The Impossible Character in Personal More Like This
... yeah. That guy.
All signs have been pointing to the fact that he may, in fact, be nearly impossible for other people to draw with much confidence. As for me? I know him front and back. Of all the Serenity Glen characters, he is drawn most easily. He very rarely gives me trouble.
But, as of today, the eight different artists of varying skill levels have told me he's nearly impossible to draw and quit trying (whether I have paid them or not).
I'm a little speechless.
Many people have drawn him successfully.

Sometimes in youth we play crazy mind games. One gruesome game was trying to think of the worst way to die. Or even better, the "which would you choose" version of the same conceit. Another was what would be the worst torture to endure. If there is one international touchstone that best captures youthful fears and wonders in speculation of what lies beyond the veil of death and awaits as possible punishment for our sins, it must be - to the few who have actually read it to the millions who "know" it – "Dante's Inferno." Who does not shiver at the thought of being lost somewhere in the "Nine Rings of Hell?"

Supernatural beings come to serve several purposes:
They kept people on the lighted path of truth and goodness, fearful of exploring beyond;

Guys are fascinated by them.
Through single-digit ages, they find the very concept of them hilarious, and when puberty kicks in the mere thought of lady-lumps generally causes some movement in the trouser department. These weak-willed creatures will follow them anywhere and they will do almost anything if it means simply being permitted to gaze upon them for a few moments more.
The entertainment industries, from the big movie makers to the lowly art whores (like me) know this, and have played upon it for years in order to separate males from their money. As a result, mass media is awash with the female form in all manner of provocative poses and dress.
Many women are fed up with this, but is the whole thing “sexist”?
Well, it’s impossible and indeed wrong to say a whole industry is one thing or another. Ultimately it’s all one, big, dumb organism that simply moves with the cultural winds. It perpetuates what sustains it. It’s only when you break it
Gamesmaster on YoutubeI like to have a bit of "white noise" playing in the background as I work. Either a movie I'm familiar with, a BBC documentary, Hollywood Babble On, etc.Gamesmaster on Youtube in Personal More Like This
Today I just stumbled upon a real gem: every episode of the legendary Gamesmaster has been uploaded to Youtube by someone destined for sainthood!
(No, not the sh*tty Nintendo propaganda cartoon.)
Gamesmaster was the first TV show to focus purely on video games and video game culture, and, with no internet back then, it was the only way I got to see most games.
My sole gaming platform was the old Commodore 64 warhorse, until I won a Megadrive/Genesis in '93 ("Design a character" competition), and it was another couple of years after that before I got a PC, so things like Monkey Island 2 I only got to see moving via Gamesmaster. Otherwise, it was just a case of staring lustfully at the screenshots on the back of the box.
So, for a 20 year old British kid's TV show, visit:
Dark ShadowsAn enjoyable enough flick that was actually free of quite a few of the usual Burton hallmarks (not a black and white stripe in sight!), but it felt more of a tribute than it should have to the long forgotten series on which it was based.Dark Shadows in Personal More Like This
There are a few real "What the?" moments near the end which are no doubt nods to the source material, of which Burton and Depp are huge fans, but which are completely lost on the rest of us.
(Was lycanthropy mentioned earlier in the film? If it was; I missed it! - That's no spoiler BTW. It has NO relevance to the rest of the film which is what makes its inclusion so baffling.)
It's also the first film in which Eva Green actually looks like the bombshell everyone's been claiming her to be since Casino Royale.

Robinson is to be Knighted in recognition of his public and political service, and Atkinson is being granted a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for his charity work.
A surprise, given that they're most well known for starring in a show that often mocked the monarchy. Though honours are recommended by her ministers, the Queen still approves them. Mind you, that she became a Bond girl during the 2012 Olympics does rather put to bed the question of her having a sense of humour.
Tracing gets you nowhere.I remember when I was a kid, I'd record Saturday morning cartoons, play them back, pause the image, put a piece of paper over the screen and trace my favourite characters.Tracing gets you nowhere. in Personal More Like This
Now this was really hard in the VHS era, because a paused image on a VHS is usually either broken up or shakes so much that you’ll have some kind of fit if you look at it too long, it depended on how cheap and sh*tty your machine was.
But I worked really hard at it, man. I spent ages getting the linework just right, I was so careful, and when I peeled the page from the static cling of the bulbous, cathode ray tube screen, the character looked exactly right on the page. And you wanna know what I took away from that endeavour? What all that effort taught me?

You don’t pick up or develop any skills by tracing. You don’t devise and perfect your own methods by tracing. You do not progress as an artist by tracing. All you get is a loss of credibility, especially in this day and age, bec

It happens to be the day I flew back. The flight back to England was very long, only because I knew what was waiting on the other side and I couldn't wait to see him again.
When I got off the plane, I don't think I have run faster in my life. I stood in front of the area where the bags were coming out and acted like some kind of idiot really because I was literally pacing around it trying to get my bags out as fast as possible. I borrowed a stranger's phone to call Kurt at that moment because I knew when I crossed those doors, he would be waiting for me on the other side. And when I walked out with my trolley of stuff, there he was. Right in the middle wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans, his arms open wide to grab me, I could see him before I even walked out of the doors at Heathrow. I left my trolley at that point because honestly, I didn't give a damn where it went and in seconds

i practiced abour 17 yeears now to get this bunch of mostly self taught techniques to work
most of my stuff is a digital painting now, made or drawn in photoshop cs3. never switched higher as cs3 satisfied all my photoshoppin needs
i used to do quite a bit of modelling in 3d studio max, but it was too technical of a program so eventually i gave it up and completely switched to zbrush as it provided me with excellent set of organinc modelling and texturing tools
