I ended up taking ComArtist and NyjahA's advice and made the two children at the bottom Native American...it feels truer to the spirit of the song, which is what I'm trying to capture in the end.
My 0.05 pen started to give out on me about halfway through this piece, making it one of the harder ones to get done :/ . But overall I'm pleased...the concept was something I thought of months ago, and one I'd been looking forward to getting on paper.
Another easy one, in the sense that the composition came together in one try and the inking went fast.
"My loving heart, lost in the dark" has always been a lyric that particularly struck me...the idea that when your heart is lost, your soul kind of goes with it. I always pictured someone being washed up on a lost shore in the rain, so when I was coming up with ideas, that was where I started. It sort of reminded me of that painting of Venus on a seashell, being blown to shore...I thought, what if she got lost on the way? What if Love herself became lost at sea, and forgot who she was?
When I hear this song I always picture a child riding a wolf. So I thought, why not let it be the dead boy?
I've discovered that I like doing animals, especially furry ones. Snow...not so much :/ My snow tends to start looking like clouds, and my clouds always turn out a little too cottonish-looking, IMO. (All the things I don't really enjoy drawing so far...snow, clouds, ocean waves, and tree leaves. What is Nightwish's music full of? Snow, bodies of water, and trees. Oh dear...)
My favourites metal singers From left to right : Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil, Simone Simons from Epica and Tarja Turunen, Ex-Nightwish I love their voices, personality and appearance... They are definitely my Metal Goddesses!
So there it is My spontaneous inbetween - attack I wanted to make a pic of the stunning deepness of this Nightwish song for a long time now, but I never had any ideas... and suddenly there it was xD One day I wanna sit in the snow and watch northern lights while hearing that song...
Acrylics, oil pastels and copic marker on A3 Britannia watercolor paper. And as special: glow-in-the-dark-paint.
Yay, it's finisheeeeeeed My creativity is kind of very back ... It took an eternity to scan it so that I could crop it properly -.-° But now it's doneee Sadly I can't offer you the original painting for sale, because I gave it away, but if you want a print, please let me know

"Ever felt away without me, My love, it lies so deep, Ever dream of me"
Tarja Turunen, the ex singer of nightwish. Inspired by the amazing "Ever Dream" song: [link] I know I can't describe the word "Love" by words... So all else we can do is look at Tarja's last performance with the Nightwish band, listen to the sound, and get the "Love" thing straight, clean and bright...
