Dib is Sick - Chapter 45
Calming just a bit at the Irken's words and nodding his head slowly, Dib took as much comfort as he could from the small face nuzzle he received from Zim, sniffling all the while. Finally letting his eyes fall closed to sleep, he then reached out one hand to take Zim's and hold it in his own.
Watching Dib for a moment, Zim's smile fell away once Dib had closed his eyes, feeling awful now for not realizing how fragile he was in his current state. Using his other hand to carefully stroke his hair, he then continued to watch him sleep soundly.
In his sleep, Dib pet the back of Zim's hand with his fingers, drawing them slowly across the soft skin there, the action somewhat comforting to him as his eyes began to dry.
Watching as Dib moved his fingers over his hand, Zim wanted to get nearer to him but was afraid it would only hurt him. So instead, he merely sighed and closed his eyes.
About an hour later, Dib opened his eyes slowly and stared at Zim, who had dozed off, through half-lidded ey

Nodding dazedly when the nurse asked him for his father's contact information, Dib gave her the number for his father's lab as well as his home number in case he wasn't there. "I-I can't guarantee you'll be able to get a hold of him. He's really busy and doesn't always answer the phone." He said before she left to attempt contacting him.
"Well, don't worry too much about it. We'll do whatever we can to get a hold of him." The nurse smiled before leaving the room to go and call Dib's father.
Frowning a bit, Zim watched her leave the room before turning back to Dib again. "Why do they have to call your dad anyway? Shouldn't they be more concerned about starting your treatment?" He looked down at the bed and slid a hand over one of Dib's hands, entwining his fingers with Dib's and sighing.
His blush slowly dying down, Dib leaned up against Zim a bit. "Well, it's not every day they get a patient my age coming into the emergency room without a parent accompanying them." He sighed. "But I wi

Jolting when Dib fell off the other end of the hospital bed, Zim stared down at him with fear as well. "Dib...I don't know what's going on here, but whatever happened, I'm sorry!" he moved nearer to Dib, only to make him shuffle away more.
Walking back in with the doctor, the nurse gasped at seeing Dib on the floor before running over to help him and looking up at Zim sternly. "I suggest you leave." She said, not trusting the other to stay alone with Dib any longer.
Still a bit shaken by the situation, Dib's eyes grew even wider at those words. "N-No!" He looked up at the nurse pleadingly. "Please! He fell asleep, had a bad dream, and accidentally knocked me off of the bed!" He said quickly, still not wanting Zim to leave him despite everything that had just happened.
Carefully helping the nurse put Dib back on the bed, the doctor examined him.
Still looking the least bit impressed, the nurse turned to Zim. "Is this true?" She asked, not so sure whether she believed Dib or not.

Opening his eyes slightly to watch Dib as he slept, Zim couldn't help but smile a bit at having Dib clinging to his uniform top. His mind still racing, he felt unable to drop off as quickly as the other. Before long, however, he finally felt himself drifting off to sleep with the human pressed close to him for warmth.
Letting out a small whine, Dib shifted in his sleep a bit and shivered. "Mmmm...Mom..." He murmured, tightening his hold on Zim's shirt.
Zim frowned in his sleep from all the shifting. "Mm...Mmm?" He peeked his eyes half open at Dib for a short moment before shuffling up nearer to him to get comfortable again.
Tugging at the covers in his sleep, Dib pulled them over his head as though to hide. "Mom...Mommy..." He let out a small whimper.
Opening his eyes fully at hearing that, Zim rubbed the top of his head, blinking sleepily and pushing himself up a little to pull at the covers. "...Dib?" He said, trying to get the other to come out from his hiding place.

Finally managing to get his coughing somewhat under control for the time being, Dib gasped for air as his hands were now covered in blood and everything hurt thanks to his fever, which had grown even worse than it'd been before. "Z-Zim...I can't move..." He said once he had settled some.
Grabbing some tissue from the side, Zim's eyes grew wide at seeing all the blood before he very carefully took his hand to gently wipe it away. Doing his best not to hurt him in the process, he then looked down at Dib with even more worry than before. "Dib, I'm taking you to a hospital...Right now." He said, getting up to gather a few of his things before leaving.
Eyes snapping wide open at those words, Dib followed Zim's movements with his eyes, watching him as he grabbed his disguise and hurried over to his closet to grab him a clean pair of pajamas just to return and carefully dress him in them before scooping him and the covers around him up into his arms, causing him to let out a pained scream bef

"Hm? Like what ones?" Zim turned his head to look at Dib, and Dib glanced at Zim, but turned his head back to the screen. So, Zim did the same.
"Well, like when stole all the organs from kids in school, and when you stole money from people around town." Dib shrugged, "If you kept at it, everyone would have gotten sick or would have died. With the money thing, people would have no money for food, so everyone would starve."

Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 6It took Dib 20 minutes longer than usual to get to his house, but it seemed much longer than even that. Each step had been torture since pretty much every human was staring at the high alien; even though half of them looked much weirder.Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 6 in Short Stories More Like This
Dib opened the door to the Membrane household then tugged the alien inside. He finally relieved Zim of the trench coat wrapped around his head after he'd closed the door. He sighed in relief that had been much harder than he'd expected. The human walked over to the couch to sit down, completely content with letting Zim do whatever until he wasn't high anymore.
"Where are the snacks?!" Zim yelled right before Dib could sit down.
Dib let out another sigh, though this time it was more aggravated. "They're in the kitchen." He replied gently.
"Can we watch a MOVIE?!" Zim asked suddenly becoming very hyper once more.
"Fine what do you want to watch?" Dib asked, rubbing at his temples agitatedly. He felt like he was babysitting a 5 year old.
Always-ZaDr Chapter 2 Dib stood outside the not so conspicuous green house that harbored the irken he wanted to be miles away from. What Zim had said had bothered him..and bothered him..and bothered him..and now he stood there thinking to himself. The alien's demeanor had changed...their usual schedule had been practically destroyed, torn apart, stomped on, then lit on fire. The irken had almost seemed organized in his plot against the human and it scared the teen a little. He bit nervously at his lip piercings, looking uncertainly at the door that was only a couple of paces away.Always-ZaDr Chapter 2 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
He almost wanted to abort the "mission" in finding out what the irken wanted, though he was a stubborn human. Two parts of him were battling it out, one side urging him to continue, not wanting him to run home with his tail between his legs, and the other begging him to do the opposite. He wasn't sure what side to follow but he was lean
Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 2 "What is this reproductive joos?" Zim mumbled to himself as he headed towards the Hi-Skool. "Where does it come from?" The irken paused in his walking; tapping his chin as he placed a hand on his hip. "Is it edible?" The irken continued walking then, not noticing a teenage boy in a black trench coat running at him from behind.Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 2 in Short Stories More Like This
Dib tackled Zim to the ground and sat on him declaring a loud "VICTORY FOR EARTH!"
"GET OFF OF ME DIB-BEAST YOU HAVE INTERRUPTED ZIM'S THOUGHTS OF REPRODUCTIVE JOOSES AND SUCH!" The alien screamed flailing his limbs aggressively.
The human yelped when one of the flailing limbs caught him in the face and he rolled away from the alien. He stood up adjusting his glasses, which had been knocked askew, and glared at the alien. "Well, space-boy, maybe you should pay more attention
Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 5 With that decision Zim danced his way through the crowd and towards the utterly confused human. There were no words to describe how messed up Zim was at this point; he was seeing floating pandas and everything was really bright and colorful to him. He stumbled over someone else's feet, and fell on his stomach in front of someone. He giggled when he realized it was the Dib who had been so lucky as to have him fall in front of him, and he latched onto his leg.Reproductive Joos-ZaDr Part 5 in Short Stories More Like This
"Hiiiiiii, hyuuuuman. I missed yoooooooou." He said, nuzzling his cheek against the other's boot.
"Zim?" Dib asked, glancing down at the alien confusedly. The irken was overly happy and seemed to be disoriented, he was also not wearing his disguise which both confused and frightened the human for some reason. What the heck was wrong with him? He bent down and picked the alien up by his shou

Tallest Red tapped at his lower lip with a claw as he thought. He couldn't think of anything, usually being tallest was exciting but today just turned out to be slow. "Maybe we're not torturing the shorters enough." He said finally after a long pause.
"Nah, we've done that today but it's just not fun anymore." Purple grumbled rolling to his side to look at Red. "But something's missing did we run maintenance on the massive?" he asked, his left "eyebrow" raising.
"Yes, we did." Red sighed leaning against the nearby wall out of boredom. "Something IS missing, but I don't know what." The first i
Always-ZaDr Chapter 11 Zim managed to drag Dib through the darkness of his charging room towards the false wall he had set up in front of his elevator. He stepped through the hologram before going over to a control panel on the left wall, and with a bang of his fist the control panel popped open. He ignored the persistent struggling of the human in his hand as he set the hologram to a more solid texture to avoid another break in. He didn't want Dib going down later and investigating the equipment while he was away.Always-ZaDr Chapter 11 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
The irken then headed towards the elevator. "Computer, Zim demands transportation to the projector room!" he called. A responding sigh came from the ceiling and the bored AI sent the elevator back to its bossy creator before setting up a dimmer light system for the irken.
Said alien quickly dragged Dib into the elevator room. He planned on turning Dib back
ZaDr-Reproductive Joos Part 4 A short 20 minutes later Zim was sitting in the depths of his lab, the glow of his computer screen giving his skin an eery greenish glow. He allowed his head to fall down onto the keyboard with a defeated groan. This was worse than the drama created in those stupid human soap operas, or maybe it was an equal to that drama, it drew out forever and never seemed to end just the same.
Zim lifted his head and banged it back down on the keyboard repeatedly. "Stupid Stupid HYUUUMANS!" He growled before glancing up at the screen once more. The screen had a series of random letters and numbers printed on it now due to his repeated head banging. He grumbled something angrily in irken before pressing do
Always-ZaDr Chapter 6Dib awoke with a start, his body sitting bolt upright in bed and his blurred wide-eyed gaze sweeping quickly over the dimly lit room. His startled mind created monsters out of the shadows that he saw even though in the back of his mind he knew they weren't real..or at least he told himself that. His skin was shining slightly with the thin layer of sweat that had his clothing clinging to his form and his breath was ragged and panicked.Always-ZaDr Chapter 6 in Short Stories More Like This
A small involuntary whimper escaped him and he knew it would make him feel weak but he reached over to his bedside lamp and turned it on. The darkness of the room evaporated immediately into a much lighter and more pleasant scene, but the feelings from the obvious nightmare still remained.
After a moment or two the teen calmed himself enough so that he wasn't panting and he swung his legs over the side of the mattress, rubbing lightly at his temples. A small groan of displeasure escaped him before he allowed himself another quick sweep of his bedroom. Con
Always-ZaDr Chapter 5 Dib had to use all of his concentration to keep from allowing his jaw to drop when he heard that. He kept his expression stoic, and remained silent for a moment.Always-ZaDr Chapter 5 in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
He understood why the irken would come up with that kind of solution...but why did he have to? Why couldn't the alien have chosen something more pleasant like cutting off his finger or something?
He didn't want to kiss Zim because first off he'd never kissed anyone before and didn't plan on it, and second off..this was an alien. He didn't know what horrible and creepy things lurked on the irken's lips.
He glanced at them through his peripheral vision a small shudder of disgust raking through his body. He didn't want his lips anywhere near the irken let alone on Zim's lips.

"Well...you wanted to know what reproductive joos was." the human replied pulling up a new page which caused the speakers to make loud moaning noises.
"ZIM DOES NOT WISH TO WATCH ANYMORE!" The irken screamed, putting his hands atop his wig to muffle the sound.
"Awww, come on Zim don't be such a baby." Dib said, turning the sound up. 'ah...AH! Harder!', the speakers yelled.
"Zim is no smeeeeeeet." the alien replied opening his eyes a fraction to glare at Dib.
"Then stop freaking out every time the computer," the rest of the scentence was cut off by a pleasured scream from the speakers.
"But this is disgusting! This is how you humans mate? Looks more like you're wrestling for dominance...." Zim paused looking at Dib strangely....he could do wrestling for dominance...he did that with the dib-beast all the time, just this time he'd need to gather repro

Dib lowered his binoculars and leaned back against the trunk of the tree he was perched in. It was recess and he was doing his usual spying on Zim. They were in Hi-Skool by now and Zim hadn’t managed to take over Earth yet. Not that anyone really expected him to. He’s shown his incompetency so many times Dib stopped worrying about him long ago. He just liked observing the many odd quirks the alien had.
His curiosity was piqued slightly. What function did the antennae serve? As long as he’s known Zim and he’s never really figured it out. He assumed they were for hearing and expressing emotion, as they often shot straight up when their owner was surprised or laid down flat when he was angry. But was that all they were for?

"Come on, Zim!" Dib called from the water. He waved at him. "The water's fine!"
Zim glared at him. "No, I hate Earth water! I didn't want to come to the beach anyway, but you talked me into bringing you here!"
He had used the Voot cruiser to fly them to the East Coast, going down almost to Florida in favor of warmer weather and larger waves. He had bathed in paste beforehand, but he didn't plan on going in the water.
Dib shrugged. "All right, your loss." He fixed his glasses, which were strapped tightly to his head with a band so the waves wouldn't knock them off. Then he swam back out.
Zim eventually sat down in the sand. He was still wearing a shirt and pants, though Dib had convinced him to wear swim trunks underneath, just in case. It was too hot to keep boots on; his legs were getting sweaty. He reached down to pull th

"What're you reading?" the familiar voice said from behind him.
Without turning around, Dib reached back with an arm and pulled Zim toward him, holding him close. "Just looking to see if there are any new announcements."
Surprised but pleased at finding himself this close to his human, Zim stretched up onto the tips of his toes so he could rest his head against Dib's shoulder, reading the board too. "Hey, look!" He pointed at a bright flyer. "All applicants for homecoming king and queen need to talk to the principal before January 10th!"
"So?" Dib had no clue why Zim would bring that up.
"So we should go for it!"
"Zim we're both males."
"So? We can be homecoming king and king!"
"I don't think they do that."
"We can ask."
"Well okay, I suppose it's worth asking. It's ten minutes until the first bell. Do you think that's enough?"

"I don't understand your fascination with plants," Zim commented as he grudgingly walked next to the tall human. "Sure, they're pretty. But they don't really have much purpose "
"Don't have much purpose?" Dib repeated. "Dude, they take in harmful carbon dioxide and emit oxygen. Humans breathe oxygen."
"Oh, right. Wait, this is oxygen we're breathing?" Zim looked surprised by this bit of information. "Huh."
Dib sighed. "Didn't you pay attention in science class for the last " He counted the number of years Zim has been here, "Five years?"
"Nope. I already knew all of it and I BSed the tests." Zim leaned down to examine a bee as it alighted on a flower, sucking out the nectar. A thin film of pollen coated its fat body.
"You know, because of a bee's ratio of wing surface area to body weight, they shouldn't even be able

Zim's eye twitched and Dib ducked out from under the arm, fairly disturbed. "Okay how do you play it?"
"The first person to get creeped out loses," Keef explained. He ran his hand down the side of Dib's face.
"AH!" Dib jolted back and tripped, falling hard on his back. His glasses tilted and hung off of one ear, looking like they would fall at any moment.
"You lose!" Keef shouted.
Zim laughed at Dib before offering him a hand to help him up. It was currently recess, and bored, the two had decided to talk to an old friend and ask him advice on what they should do. They were regretting it now.
"So basically, we feel each other up and the first one to freak out loses?" Zim asked to make sure.
Keef nodded eagerly.
Zim smirked. "Dib-thing, would you like to play with Zim?"
Dib blushed, pushing his glasses a little further up his nose, and nodded.

The day of the dance came. Since they were candidates, they had to go to all of the events before the actual dance, such as the pep rally, basketball, and football games. Though they weren't interested in sports, they agreed anyway. They didn't have much choice, and besides, the pep rally might be fun. It was where the king and queen would be crowned.
"Or king and king," Zim reminded Dib as they walked to the gym. They were already wearing their semi-formal clothes, having changed right after their last class.

"That was actually kinda fun," Gaz said, referring to their earlier dance.
"Yeah, I like it," Zim agreed.
"Kinda makes you tired, though." Her hand was pressed to her chest as she took deep breaths.
"It's supposed to. It's an exercise as well as a dance."
"One bottle of water," Zim said to the lady in the concession stand. She fished one out of the ice-filled cooler and set it on the counter.
"One dollar," she said.
Zim dug a dollar bill out of her pocket and gave it to her, then picked up the bottle. The ice-cold water clinging to its outside made him flinch as it burned his skin. He quickly handed it to Gaz and wiped his hand off on his pant leg.
"Thanks." She twisted the lid off and drank deeply. They walked back to where Dib was sitting. "You sure Dib won't get jealous?" she asked.
"Oh, no. It's a dance. He won't care. Dib's not the jealous type," Zim replied. "If anything, I'm the jealous one. I never like anyone near him. Like this one

Zim glared out the window of his house at the deadly white flakes drifting down. They looked so harmless and almost serene. If it wasn't for the fact that they were nothing more than frozen water, which could cause severe burns unless he was prepared. Since he didn't want to take a paste bath, though, he was staying inside where it was toasty warm and waiting until the snow stopped.
GIR was outside building a snowman while MiniMoose looked for rocks to use for the facial features. GIR waved at Zim. "Mastah, come outside! Please?" His voice was loud enough that it was easily heard from inside.
For about the tenth time in the past few minutes, Zim shook his head. "No GIR! The snow can burn me, remember?"
"Then wear a hoodie!"
"A hoodie?" Zim hadn't thought of that. "Computer, my jacket."
Computer threw a red, hooded jacket at him. Its left chest pocket was marked with the irken insignia. He pulled it on and zipped it all the way up, then laid his ante

Dib sighed sadly as he looked at a picture of Zim, standing as proud as he could despite his short stature, hands on his hips and grinning, obviously pleased that his picture was being taken. He was in disguise; the obviously fake black wig and purple contacts normally would have made the teen laugh, but he couldn't now. Not when he hasn't seen the irken for nearly two years...
He closed his eyes as he remembered the last time he had seen him.
It was ninth grade, about halfway through the school year. In an attempt to make school more fun and perhaps revive some crushed spirits, a school dance was held. It was nothing formal, and you could come in whatever you wanted as long as it adhered to the dress code, that is. But no one paid attention to that stupid thing anyway.
Zim seemed somewhat interested in going, most likely because he wanted to learn more about Earth culture or maybe play a few pranks on some unsuspecting humans.
Dib wasn't sure, but he did know he wasn't going to
ZaDF - Things Happen...The waiting room was quiet. Only a few people were still hanging around to see family members at this time of night, but there was a particular short boy with peculiar green skin who refused to leave, sitting cross-legged on an uncomfortable chair, shaking fingers flipping idly through a magazine his eyes simply could not focus on long enough to read. He didn't question why he cared so much to see if he was okay. He just had to know.
