I don't post enough goofy shots, so have one of me and Judy :iconthedreamerworld: at SDCC 2011!

Yes, when I really love my friends, I chomp on their heads.

Judy is expecially awesome because she is the biggest advocate for us cosplayers at Marvel. She is a web designer for them as well as official convention photographer, and she always goes out of her way to do photoshoots with cosplayers. Some of my strongest photos have been taken by her! Judy also runs a blog on Marvel.com where she talks about Marvel cosplays, check it out here: [link]

Thank you, Kevin Green, for this snapshot of us. That was on the Marvel stage right after the costume contest. XD

Character: Lady Sif - Thor (Marvel)
Costume made by Yaya
Photography by Judy Stephens
Makeup and model: Yaya

I made this costume for San Diego Comic Con after gathering materials and reference for several months. I love badass warrior girls and the color red, so Sif was a no brainer! I really liked her character in the comic book as well, from the fact that she grew up with Thor and trained along side him, to their on and off romance over the years, and Sif's strong, loyal and courageous nature.
I used a mix of materials for the costume, from suede to leather to metallic 4-way stretch to fur and wood. I drafted patterns for all the pieces and made everything within about 3 - 4 days. The corset is steel boned, and it was fun to make arm and leg armor pieces. I also enjoyed beading the wig and making the adornments on the hips.

More pics coming soon, and I plan on re-wearing Sif at Dragoncon!

So we were hired as models but we are all fans of the games and characters, and we made our costumes! In fact Trish made her entire costume in less than 3 days!

Thank you Omgbooth [link] for this shot, taken during the Atlanta Fight Club event, celebrating the new game Marvel vs Capcom 3. We five were hired costumers for the night, and stood on podiums and posed as the characters, as well as took pictures with the fans.

My cosplay of Saharai Gotiva, of Sadira's Tribe!

Sadira's Tribe is a world created by :iconsadira-pookie:, for which she's written stories and created lots of gorgeous art. She wanted to get a group together to cosplay some of her characters, when she brought her drawings to my house, I jumped right on! I created another one for someone else to wear, so there was 3 of us including her.

Photos were taken by :iconbuckrogersbarker:. We tell everyone we went to India for it
;-)

The only catch was...i wanted a horn. ... well... i wanted 2 horns...Pookles gave me one :D

This is probably the last one i'm selecting from my webpage [link] to post here, the rest of the photos and lots more cosplay are there. At least until i make some more! :)

This is me and pixiekitty, in the Last Exile costumes we made and wore to AUSA '09: Delphine, in her child and adult forms.

Delphine is such a crazy psychobitch. Gotta love it. Her fashion tastes are baffling. I honestly wasn't nuts about Last Exile, but it was pretty with great costume designs!

Photo by LJinto! I love my hat. :wizardhat:

I'll post more when I get back from my trip this weekend!

I originally wore this costume for the DC Sakura Matsuri Fashion Show, but per the photographer's request I brought her out to AUSA 2011. Unbeknownst to me at the time, Haydee's one of his favourite characters so we ended up shooting for several hours which yielded a number of amazing shots.

Costume details:

Upon trying to think of something appropriately 'pretty' to cosplay, I had a sudden epiphany after hours of fruitless brainstorming and remembered how way back in early 2006 I had wanted to cosplay Haydee from Gankutsuou. Admittedly, I hadn't given the series much thought in years despite having loved it and went back and watched the opera house scene to catch all 2 seconds you actually see of this dress. All in all, this costume was a lot of fun to make and took me maybe the grand total of 4 hours not counting the three weeks spent procrastinating. And oh so tacky.

I wanted the dress to be very sheer and super shiny. Finding an iridescent organza proved to be more difficult than ever anticipated and after realizing that the only seller online who carried it was in China, I began hunting for an alternative locally which turned out to be an adventure in itself. 8 yards eventually went into this costume. The fabric was fairly easy to work with but wanted to disintegrate when I simply looked at it -- this was not conducive when trying to thread 18 gauge wire through channels. Also, I cannot ever iron this dress because it would probably melt faster than Nazis looking at the Lost Ark. The dress was partially made from a pattern, though most of it was simply draped on a dressform. Strands of pearls were sewn along the bodice. The gems are a mixture of acrylic & Swarovski -- $60 total -- and super glued on -- yes, Gem Tac takes forever to dry. I had initially wanted to use nothing but Swarovski but I was on a time crunch and it was cheaper/faster to buy acrylic gems instead. The jewelery is made from a glitter foamy that's been sealed on the back w/ Mod Podge. An assortment of rhinestones & pearls were glued on in various patterns. This was the best part of making this costume. Such tacky terrible bling. Elf ears were purchased and lightened w/ a pale pinkish white foundation and attached w/ spirit gum.

The wig is a Silver 40" long from Epic Cosplay with additional wefts that was twice dyed w/ an FW Ink + alcohol mixture. Unfortunately, the colour did not take as dark as I had hoped, but the end product worked well enough. I had never anticipated not being able to find a 40" long dark green wig w/o bangs but clearly they no longer exist. Wefts were glued around woven pipe cleaners and accented w/ crystal scrapbooking appliques & rhinestones.

Katsucon 16

Maria Renard worn by :iconetaru:.

Photography (c) Ollie

Ever since I first began cosplaying I had wanted to make an Alucard costume. I made an attempt for Animazement 2005 but lacked the funds and the skills at the time and ended up never finishing the costume. Somehow a few months later I was talked into making a Maria Renard costume to go with a friend's Alucard & my own aspirations of making Alucard were put aside for the time being.

Well, five years & two Maria Renard costumes later -- the first was a rush job made in two hours the night before the con -- I finally decided that I wanted to delve into making my own once again.

My approach to this costume was to make it exactly as I had wanted to when I first began cosplaying. Of course, the result is far superior to anything I might have made at that time. Because there is various conflicting character art, I took what I liked from each as well as the in-game sprite. Alucard's ultimate cloak in the game in the 'Twilight Cloak' -- yes, sparkle sparkle -- and the lining changes from red to black I went with an iridescent black shot red dupioni.

The makeup was intended to look both ethereal yet creepy. I used a white powdered foundation w/ pink undertones on my face and added in dramatic shading with a matte grey and brushed in purple shadows beneath my eyes. I applied both upper and lower false lashes. Black lipstick was applied with a brush to my upper lip while my lower lip was primed with a white creme foundation and covered with a very pale nude lipstick. Black was blended along the lower lip line upwards to create a grey-ish hue.

Overall, this costume turned out to be what I wanted despite the fact that I made it in less than a month and a time total of about seven to eight hours. It's also surprisingly comfortable despite the layers. Not necessarily something I'd want to wear to a summer con, but I was very comfortable in-doors. The only real discomfort was the weight of the cloak pulling at my shoulders after a few hours of wear.

Costume Details:

Coat is made from a black silk velvet & lined with a silver & black scrolled brocade. Cuffs have interfacing & are accented by an ivory embroidered mesh lace. The collar is made from gold fabric I had left over from my Charlotte Elbourne costume and has interfacing & wire to help hold its shape.

The waist coat is a $50 a yard silk jacquard that laces up the back and is covered in 100 hand applied pyramid studs. The buckles are pewter & stone.

The cloak facing is a dull satin and is lined with a black shot red dupoini silk which fastens with pewter clasps & silver jewelry chain. The ascot is made of an ivory silk crepe. The leggings are a stretch pleather.

The gold & silver trim is handwoven and imported from India.

The wig is a Linda XXL in silver-white.

The sword was a purchased medieval practice sword primed, spray painted, rub n' buffed & given an antique patina. The handle is wrapped in a tan leather cording and a resin gem is glued into the pommel. Boots were purchased and the tops rub n' buffed silver.

Alright, alright, I know like 90% of you are watching me because of my cosplay, and I haven't posted any cosplay pictures in ages, so here ya go. My newest costume--Silk Spectre I/Sally Jupiter from the Watchmen movie.

I read Watchmen last year after Comic Con, after hearing about how it was the only graphic novel to make TIME's list of 100 greatest novels. Being a graphic novelist myself, that's high praise for a comic, and it didn't disappoint. I found myself analyzing the book the same way I was forced to do in my high school literature classes. What is it about Dan's Nite Owl costume that gives him his potency? How does Jon's loss of his own humanity represent the rest of the world's loss of humanity? How does Rorschach's black and white view of the world make him the good guy or the bad guy? Watchmen is one of those books you can read over and over again and get something new and different out of it after every read, and I highly encourage anyone who is the least bit interested in comics (and those who aren't!) to pick it up.

As for the costume, I originally was interested in doing Silk Spectre II, but I decided that A) I didn't have the skills necessary to make a latex body suit, and B) I simply don't have the body or slight build for a costume like that. Sally Jupiter was a much more flattering costume for my figure, and the 40's pinup style was definitely appealing to me.
