Something I made a few years ago, when I had too much free time at hand. All the robot masters from Megaman 1-10, Mega man Game Boy games, Mega Man & Bass and The Wily Wars in 8-Bit. Some of them are taken from the fan-made 8-Bit versions of 7 and 8, with some changes made by me. Hope you enjoy!

Here is a new Version of the 8-Bit Sprites with lots of improvements. Especially the Mega Man & Bass Sprites were changed. I have to thank brotoad on deviantart for Cold Man and Dynamo Man. Those two were just perfect! Ground Man is alot bigger than before... but so is the robot in the game. I also made an 8-Bit version of the original height version of Hyper Storm H and I improved my (selfmade) version of King. In the end I added the legendary Bond Man to the Mega Man 1 lineup (If you don't know him, look him up).

Well, here's the version with sprites that includes all 80 Robot Masters. Though I suppose a I owe a little bit of an explanation.

Let me start by saying you have no idea how much work went into both this pic and the the other mugshot version. No friggin' idea. Nuff said.

As you first may notice, the colors on these characters seems...off. The truth is there not. In fact, each RM has their real respective colors and most if not all of their details from the original concept art (Thank you Mega Man Knowledge Base! [link]). Yes this includes all of them, no exceptions. And yes, for the details, a number of them had to be edited, some only a little, others were heavily edited.

Anyway, Most of the sprites come from there respective games, (MegaMan 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10) with a few exceptions, which I will list in order of appearance. 1.) Time Man and Oil Man's sprites come from the yet to be fully released Rockman 8 FC as secret characters with usable weapons. 2.) Sprites from Mega Man 7 and 8 also come from the Rockman 7 & 8 FC games (a special thanks goes out to them for making these sprites and cool 8-bit ports)! 3.) The two exceptions to this are Slash Man and Frost Man, both 8-bits sprites are from Mega Man 10 as a cameo as a Wily Castle boss, the "Weapons Archive" along with a number of other faces on this list.

In regards to a number of questions I get on a certain subject, let me address a very common place concern. If you do not see a certain RM on this list (Enker, Mercury, Doc Robot, or even Mega Man himself, etc.), don't panic. This list and the mugshot version are both dedicated to the normal RMs from MM 1 - 10 (with the exception of the MM 1 remake Powered Up). Any RMs outside this range will be placed on a special list with both sprites and mugshots. THIS INCLUDES MEGAMAN & BASS!!! So I don't want to hear any questions regarding a missing Robot Master. If you do ask, I'll assume you didn't read the description and will kindly address you to read it again.

Anyway, if you have any questions regarding this piece or the mugshot version or if you wish to point out errors I may have missed (it's easy to miss mistakes here), please leave a comment. I will see what I can do. Enjoy the list.

As of this point, this picture is finished, and I'll be working on related projects.

Update (12/8/2010): Updated MM1 sprites with original 8-bit colors as they were originally presented in MM3. Also added updated Oilman and Timeman mugshots with matching colors. Spacing has also been edited.

Update (7/27/2010): Frames and spacing hopefully finalized. The frames have been given "inner frames" which directly encompasses the mugshots. These already existed on the frames for MM 9 & 10, and were added to the previous 8. The Mega Man 5 frame took the most work as it's size and shape never seemed to come out right until I settled on a more compact design based on it's original, which makes sense to begin with. Working on a super special alternate version of this pic, and the Special RM list is still being worked on, so don't panic. So please, let me know if you like the changes and enjoy!

Update (7/11/2010): This new update features a number of changes which includes some text arrangements as one. The main changes include shadows for the text to be more in line with the later Mega Man games, also makes them easier to read and not so flat. The other major change is to the coloration of the Mugshot frames, also the structure on the Mega Man 2 & 3 frames. Please let me know what you think of the changes. Enjoy!

This is the top secret project I was talking about. A complete list of all 80 Robot Masters spanning the entire original series (Mega Man 1 through 10). This took a lot of time to do with the sprite hunting getting and all the positions right and doing all of the text. So yeah.

Ultimately I think it came out very well and that hopefully it could be expanded with future installments (Mega Man 11/12 ?) Either way, I'll be ready. Till then enjoy!

Also I've been thinking of doing a Special list featuring the main cast as well as the special bosses of the Classic Mega Man series. What do you think?

In case I haven't mentioned this before, all characters and concepts in relation to the Mega Man series are all owned by Kenji Inafune and Capcom! Also Special thanks goes to the teams behind Rockman 7 FC and Rockman 8 FC for developing 8-bit sprites for the Mega Man 7 and 8 characters!

My god, this took a long time to make.

Just so we're on the same page:
1. All of the Robot Masters are grouped by creator, not by modifier, so the bosses from 6, 7, and 10 are not connected to him.
-- Just to be clear, Slash Man was techincally made by Wily using parts originally used by Pluto.  Five of them were stolen (Freeze, Spring, Shade, Cloud, and Burst), Junk was made from scrap metal that may have not been by Wily, and Turbo was made from Wily's car, so whoever made the car was the one who made him.
2. In the original concept for Rockman 8, Dr. Cossack was the one who built Duo
3. I opted to hybridize Oil Man by giving him a darker skin, so no, his appearance is not a racist stereotype, it's the Japanese equivalent of a white guy acting "gangsta."
4. It's Skullbot not Doc Robot
5. Bond Man was going to be in the original game as one of the Eight Robot Masters, and then he was considered to be in Powered Up
6. Oud may have been part of the same region of space as Ra-Moon (given the fact that both Mega Man 8 and Super Adventure Rockman were both released around the same time on both the PS1 and Saturn)

So I had myself thinking I was finally moving on to MegaMan 6, and then all the sudden I find out that 5 has a roman cousin... I'm totally serious. I swear I did not smoke anything! ...I don't think the designers for these guys did either. Except for maybe the ones for the top and bottom.

This time around the spriters gave some good shading with these pixels, so I didn't really feel like I had to bother adding any of my own shading. Besides, that probably would've kinda distracted from all of its monochrome goodness. Only that's at least how they look on the GameBoy Color. I'm pretty sure. Yeah. Uuuhmm... WOW, would you look at that roller-skate-tank! I gots to have one. Only one that's not so fat.

Ever since the beginning of the end of the 8-bit era, Capcom has made one attempt after another to give their mascot a new coat of paint, but for some reason, none of them could even come close to being as good as the original NES titles. It seems like you can't have a good Mega Man game without having a bunch of bug-eyed, big-headed, stubby-handed little people frolicking all over the place... and are actually able to outrun freaking bullets! ...with their BUTTS. It's so dorky and it completely defies the laws of physics, and yet that's what makes the series so awesome somehow. The better reason they went back to that style in 9 and 10. I would pretty much desribe it along the lines of dorkily awesome and awesomely dorky.
Anyways, I kind of got an idea for this thing after I saw some videos for Mega Man Universe. What they're essentially doing is basically sucking out all the "squareness" while retaining the 8-bit feel from the glory days. I'm kind of doing that here too, but I'm more leaned towards a full blown 2-D standpoint rather than 2.5-D. It's a style I like to call ∞-bit. It's like a version of 8-bit that shows about as much detail as a bunch of tiles could, but has a much smoother way of doing so by far.

Yay, the robot army of the randomest russian guy ever. And these guys are no different from the previous fleets in terms of totally warping the snot out of reality. I mean really, how does a lightbulb freeze you in midair? How does a vacuum become bulletproof while sucking? How can a giant frog make it rain acid by bellydancing (and still be the easiest boss of all time)? And for crying out loud, since when were hula hoops such lethal weapons?! My head hurts, I need to lie down.

I have good news and gooder news! The good news is it's time for the bonus round! I bet people have been waiting for some of these guys to appear on here for a WHILE, and who knows, there may be some unexpected guests... Coloring Mega Man characters is a great practice, and it is fun.
I modified some characters, but most of them are original.
I hope you guys like these sprites, enjoy!

Edit on 11/24/2013: Hey guys, I am updating the Time Tangent Robot Masters with cleaned up or revised designs for the Games Art and Music Show that Suntoad Games has a booth for. Since Time Tangent played a major part in Suntoad's formation, it will be among what is on display there. So I'm polishing it all up nicely.

However, this one didn't really need anything.

Here is his bio:

TTN. 006 Ignite Man - Built to store and transport fuel used in Boost Man's experiments, Fuel Man was inspired by his fellow robot's rebellion and joined Wily. Seeing the potential in the heat-resistant design that protects his inner flammable liquids, Dr. Wily modified Fuel Man for combat and unleashed him on the CRONOS relay station hidden within a volcano. Rechristening himself Ignite Man, his new fiery home has made this already eccentric Robot Master completely unhinged and obsessed with flames and flashiness.

Megaman Time Tangent's 8th Robot Master, Galeman!

This design is tentative and subject to change.

Let me explain about his arms. What you perceive as shoulders ARE his arms. See, this guy is a redesign of my old Wingman. And since Wingman is a redesign of Captain N's Airman, so is this design by association.

While on the subject. Funny story, is that I had drawn Wingman long before I knew anyone on the Time Tangent team, but :icondisfordomo: based one of his sketches for Galeman on it.

He was kind of difficult to draw due to the different angle I needed him in...I had realized that Megaman 9 and 10 both had at least one Robot Master facing the camera, so I had to do that here. Caused some trouble, getting used to that. Especially the head. I had to use Zero art as reference.

Edit - I elongated the arms and added upper arms to them. It should make a lot more sense now.

Loved the design and I decided to draw it up. I hope he likes it.

I woulda put him in a more unique pose, but Capcom's artist seem to use this same pose for almost every robot master anyway.

This fire/space-type Robot Master was another one who's seen changes. Before, he had a gigantic Sun-like thing stuck to his back (thank goodness I got rid of it) and instead fit on him some engine thrusters for shoulders.

This is a Robot Master I designed after seeing the many failed flaws that Neuro Man, the one that preceeded this one, had. This Robot Master has fixed all the flaws the former had and then some. Definitely a fave in my book.

Hello everyone, Hfbn2 here and I just got inspired.
I has been braight to my attention that authentic Megaman 9 Concept Arts from back when the game was being developed have now been released to the general public.

Amongst these drawings there were some early designs to the 8 robotmasters and the special robot, displaying some very diffrent looks and designs compared to what was ultimately released officially.

Turning out that they didn't get any sprites due to not being in the game, I myself felt compelled to make some sprites out of the designs that were shown to us in these concept arts.

Here we have Cement Man (Concrete Man), Weather Man (Tornado Man), Ocean Man (Splash Woman), Plasma Man (Plug Man), Diamond Man (Jewel Man), Honey Woman (Hornet Man), Magma Man (Magma Man) Space Man (Galaxy Man) and Other Cop Enemy (Fake Man)

Hello this is a fan made sprite, the original sprite and a fan edit of the Megaman 10 robotmaster NitroMan.
And also a fan made mugshot ^^
The one to the left is the fan made one I made before seeing the whole NitroMan pic, the middle one is the official one and the one to the right is my fan edited one.
If you ask me they should have used another kind of red, use more of the grey color, black and not grey on the helmet and also more white like the pic.
And the yellow part could have been a bit darker and bigger.
NitroMan was created by Capcom.

Here it is everyone, it took a couple of days to finish but here it is, the new and final wily space fortress!
Man am I glad to be done with this one...
My best by far id say ^^

Oh yeah, I wanted an excuse to make sprites of these unique characters. I don't like the Bosses design of Rockman Strategy because it looks like fan art. There's nothing bad about fan art of course.

I just imagined the height difference between Mega Man and X and started working on a sprite. I'll try to make more sprites and even a entire sheet, but only with the basic moves like attacking, walking and dashing. not special weapon moves like Double Cyclone.

I sure took my time with this one!

For those who don't know, I took a break from spriting after I completed every project I had.
That's actually pretty good, to finish all my projects in one year.

Anyway, :icongamenerd4444: only wanted me to sprite Ring Man, so why not sprite Ring as well?
