Staying Up Late (SasuNaru)"Naruto... What are you doing sleeping out here?" The pale brunette smiled to himself as he quietly toed his shoes off at the door, dropping his briefcase as quietly as he could just next to them. After shedding his crisp, if in need of a wash, overcoat and hanging it on the peg, he stepped up from the foyer onto the raised floor of the open-plan den.Staying Up Late (SasuNaru) in General Fiction More Like This
Naruto lay fast asleep on the couch, blankets wrapped around him at odd angles, an arm slung over his eyes presumably to block out the late-evening sun, though by now the star was well below the horizon. His breathing was deep and even, and even though one leg was propped up, foot digging into the couch cushions, he looked as though he had been asleep for hours.
The blonde must have stayed up to see him after work, Sasuke mused to himself, undoing his tie as he watched his live-in boyfriend sleep. Which was foolish. Damn kid, he was going to run himself into the ground. Naruto had been studying for finals all week for two of the fou

The young boy stared up at that deep blue sky, piecing things together slowly in his mind. He had gone to bed the night before, wondering just how much longer he could handle being alone. Hadn’t he? Of course he had… He had climbed out of his dirty clothes, not bothering to put them into the hamper… He had slinked right under his covers too.
It had been a rough day, full of misery and hateful words from the villagers all around him. So many people were still unwilling to accept him as a shinobi of the village, so many people still frightened of the boy with the demon fox in his core. He had actually been chased away from a store front this time, something that hadn’t happened in quite some time.
People were probably afraid of his being a fully instated shinobi now, he had thought dully. Now that he

It was hours later when a knock sounded on his door. He issued a curt "Enter," never looking up from his Christmas Day papers. The door creaked open quietly and he didn't hear the footsteps until...

At long last they made it, just as passengers were boarding. It was a large vessel, probably larger than the Leviathan, length-wise. They hurried up the ramps, handed their tickets over, and boarded.

He was not used to the new name. In his lungs, he could feel only pain and agony, rising and rising!
Alek got up, he stared at his reflection. He looked....different. Or maybe it was his own mind playing tricks on him.
A knock interrupted his thoughts.
"Come in." Alek said hoarsely.
Dylan Sharp came in. Holding a smile upon his bright, happy face.
"Morin' your princleyness! i brought you some breakfast."

Deryn watched Alek fence with Volger. All she could just stare at his glistening emerald eyes. She sighed. She marched over.
" Alek there's something i need to tell you." She spat out
" Not now Dylan! i'm trying to practice!"
Volger watched her, like a fabricated hawk watching her every move.
She huffed. Deryn grabbed Alek by his fencing armor, and looked at his eyes
" What is it Dylan? you pulled me out to do- mphm!!!"
Deryn didn't let the archduke finished, and kissed him hard on the lips.
Volger was watching her. Shocked.
Alek struggled, then started to close his wonderful eyes, and enjoyed the kiss.
Finally..she thought. No more secrets.
" ALEK! BEHIND YOU!"
Alek spinned on his heels, seeing a bullet heading for his chest.
But it didn't.
" DYLAN!!!" ALEK screamed
Dylan fell to the ground. His own friend had taken his own life.
Alek turned the Middy over.
Alek gasped. There was no more Dylan Sharp anymore.

Romeo and Juliet Part 2Deryn couldn't believe that Alek wanted to her to play Juliet. Juliet! Out of all the characters in that thing! She had to get Juliet, A Capulet who falls in love with Romeo, and they get married the next day! Why on earth did they get married the next day anyway? Deryn sighed. Who knows she thought. Alek and she finally reach the topside of Leviathan; it was a clear, sunny day. The breeze was perfect, her hair all over the place, throwing and tossing, still has to be Juliet, she groaned.Romeo and Juliet Part 2 in Profiles More Like This
Alek smiled "ready? Remember you're playing Benvolio, I'm playing Tybalt."
She frowned "I thought I was playing Tybalt."
Alek shook his head, "you seem to have your hands full. I'll be Tybalt."
Since Alek, the stupid dummkopf didn't have another copy of the book; they had no choice to toss the decorated book back and forth. Back and forth, over and over again. Deryn was starting to get annoyed.
"Alek, this seems boring! Can we do something else?"

Modern day Deryn- part 1Deryn couldn't take it anymore! Her ma was driving her up a wall, and if one more thing ma said, she's out of the house. She sat in her room, wanting to desperately fly, but no! Her ma wouldn't even let her get on a barking plane, because she's so afraid of the plane burning up, just like Da's. Da, Every time when Deryn thinks of him, tears sprint towards her eyes, and nothing holds them back, "why did it have to happen to you, Da? Why?" She whispered. She laid down oh her flat bed, letting the tears spill; she needed to get away from this house! And she can't look back. The thoughts of the burning balloon filled her mind. No. She can't let this nightmare take over her again! Not now, not barking ever. Deryn sat up, wondering what to do, an idea popped in her head. She went into her closet and looked at the clothes she can wear. Deryn sprinted down the corridor, grabbing the gut hatch and peeked out about what the commotion was. What she saw totally blew her mind.
"Barking spiders," Deryn mumbled in awe as she saw a clanker machine swoop overhead and shoot a row of bullets into the whale's spine. Deryn dropped down the hatch as the aeroplane zoomed overhead almost beheading her.
"Barking persistent are they! Once on the glacier and now on the border of China? What are the clankers now; watchdogs?" Deryn exclaimed, checking first to see if the aeroplane was gone, then pulling herself out onto the spine. She whistled with the scene that met her eyes; there were huge masses of dead bodies strewn all over the Leviathan, both beastie and human. The sight brought tears to Deryn's eyes to see the airship so helpless with the clankers swooping again and again destroying more and more of it each time.
"Bum-rags!" Deryn shouted at them tears spring

Deryn entered her private chambers, exhausted from three days of nonstop work on the Leviathan. Finally she was able to take a few minutes to change out of her sweaty uniform and change into something more appropriate. She sighed, remembering that they'd arrive to Japan the very next day and Alek would vanish from the Leviathan forever. He would probably vanish into the wilderness and somehow find a way back to the main land and hideout until this barking daft war would be over. Deryn shook her head, clearing her thoughts of Alek from her mind, reminding herself that he was a barking prince -that's archduke you dummkopf!- and she was a lowly mooneye-eyed lassie that served as an airman. She couldn't fall for him; she couldn't, unless she wanted him to run a mile. Anyway once Alek was gone, so would her feelings for him, too. Deryn put on a determined look on her face and chased away all thoughts of Alek that entered her mind.

"DERYN!" Alek shouted as he shook her limp body trying to wake her up, get her to talk, or do something.
Alek's arm landed on a small box as he continued to shake Deryn (as if that would help) and knocked it over. The clattering helped Alek see through his panic and look at what box he had knocked over.
"God's wounds," Alek breathed as he saw that this box was Deryn's smelling salts, "This could barking work!"
He opened the box and waved it under her nose trying to spread the sharp smell to wake Deryn up. Finally Deryn opened her eyes and Alek sighed with relief, "Thank providence that you're alright, Deryn! I thought you had just died! Are you all right?"
"Oooooohhhh... Alright isn't the right word here, I think," Deryn managed to get out before hurling right on the bed.
"Schiesse! What's the matter Deryn?" Shouted Alek and began to spout off all kinds of Austrian swears.
Deryn looked up at Alek and whispered breathing hard, "Get... get... Dr... Barl...Barl...

Deryn's first thoughts were, "Wh-where a-am I?" then, "W-what's going on?" and finally, "Am I KISSING ALEK?!?!" Her eyes snapped open and she pulled away from Alek shocked at what she did now. Her head pounded, but she managed to get out, "Wh-what were you DOING Alek?"
Alek leaned back looking shocked, as he saw Deryn wince from her pounding ribs and head, but managed to compose himself and reply, "Y-you're alive, Dyl- erm, what's your true name?"
Deryn stared at him, unable to process that Alek knew who she really was, answering, "Deryn, and how did you know that I'm a barking girl?!"
Alek blushed, whispering, "Y-you were hurt so I-"
Alek broke off blushing furiously as Deryn understood what had happened and replied in her girl voice, "So you know, and hate me, at this point that you've seen what I've kept from you all these months," Deryn sighed and hung her head, "I-I... The Claxton bell was ringing its head off but there was nobody in the corridor, as Alek jogged over to a gut hatch and peeked out to see what the commotion was all about. The whine of engines pierced the air and Alek understood that they were ambushed by aeroplanes.
"Bumsen!" Alek cried, and listened closer. There was something missing from the usual sounds the Leviathan made but Alek couldn't understand what... Then it hit him.
"Dummkopf!" yelled Alek and began to climb up toward the engines, "Of course they would aim for the engines you idiot, the engines are the airships most important way of traveling! The clankers should know that by now from the sultan in the Ottoman empire!" Alek climbed faster reaching the walker cabin, and peeked in to see what the problem was. What met his eyes was beyond what he imagined; Klopp was unconscious and Mr. Hirst was tending to him.
"Mr. Hirst, what happened here?" Alek yelled.

Leviathan: A picture for a prince
Just a small intro. Deryn/Dylan Sharp and Prince Alecksander Ferdinand are on board the leviathan heading towards the Ottoman Empire. A surprise request from Aleck gets Deryn/ Dylan to realize her true feelings for him. Rated pg-13 for later chapters.
(I might go to four chapters at most, also keep in mind there is a change of point of view and that the book just came out in October. This fanfic is a test run for future fanfics later on)
Alek walked along the great air ship that was the Leviathan. His now rubber soles clanked against the metal walkways of the ships spine. The whole crew seemed to be a little on edge whenever he and his men walked about with their "highly flammable" shoes. Until finally to put them all at ease they borrowed some rubber shoes that were necessary if you were to walk along the great ship.
After receiving the shoes Alek decided to head to the backside of the creature or "dorsal" as he learned later it

Perhaps it was the fact that a girl was kissing him, or the fact that her shirt was partially undone, or the fact that the heat in the room has completely robbed him of his common sense, but Alek didn't immediately pull away.
Did he expect to find out his best friend was really a girl? No. Did he expect to be kissed abruptly by her? Also no.

A series of images ran through Deryn's head.
Memories of her past and current life seem to pass by in a blur. She saw yellow flames surround her father, her mother's voice echoing along the halls of her old home, her brother announcing that he was joining the navy. Slowly the images seem to slow down, she saw herself standing in a line of men with her head held higher than the rest, and she saw snow and ice surround the bodies of brave soldiers who died defending the Leviathan. And then from the shadows she saw a figure approach.
He crouched low and surrounded her, Deryn could feel herself slowly suffocating in its embrace, and she felt the figure all around her even though she could see nothing. Then a voice broke through;
