the trembling of her lips matches yours.
(Poet, breathe now.)
I should write this down,
the last piece I ever write about you.
You’ve been gone finding
constellations, ambitions, and things in between,
and this is me being brave,
dancing on the fire escape.
(I wore you like a bruise.)
My Words are a Waste of PaperI tend to buy journalsMy Words are a Waste of Paper in Free Verse More Like This
and leave their pages blank.
They are a collection of
beautiful covers and waiting lines
that I don’t want to mar
with the sin of my
crowded letters and ink smears.
They say that every word has a meaning
(some two or three),
but my soul has never spilled out
any with worth.
Every letter I put down
makes me want to rip a page out,
but then it’ll no longer be a goal;
instead, it’ll be broken and ugly
just like me.

don't promise me tomorrow.
When you look at me, tell me what you see:
anechoic screams? a misty morning
looking for signs of winter?
This is summer;
soft blue trees,
rustles in the wind.
Here, at the end of all things,
it started with two fish kites--
(in)different of weather and season
you heard my voice,
my childish wish
(still, secrets remain;
I can't stand the rain or
the Berkeley sky).
But to you,
only sky is the limit;
you were always like a tidal wave.
So don't wait up for me--

I would like to tattoo
a poem on my skin, or perhaps
only a few choice lines, the important
ones that I'll never forget.
But one line, one poem, would never
suffice; there are so many
more words than that, so many
that have engraved themselves
on my heart. I would spend every day
scrawling new words, new poems, new
epigrams and witticisms onto my skin, adding
to a history of loves and losses -
a current of words that starts
at my hands and continues up my arms,
coiling lazily around my neck then dropping
to tenderly spiral around my heart.
It would never stop with one.
[and that's the reason
i refuse to let you write your name
on my hand

Waking NightmaresWaking Nightmares:Waking Nightmares in Free Verse More Like This
It begins in the same way, every single night
Fire spreading from an altar in the darkness
As all living beings are slowly consumed,
The coruscating flames appear wet with blood
The scene then changes to a flooded hallway
Live wires dangling just above the water,
Like venomous serpents slithering in the darkness
A single pounce would end my life
Eventually the hallway ends with a door,
One that reminds me of forgotten yore
And my thoughts shall be in rhyme at this point
As though lips and tongue are eternally joint
What maddened schemes have they in mind?
It is not a question, I may ask at this time.
Quickly I am brought before a bone-wrought throne
Kneeling as my flesh is carved 'Atone'
My thoughts return to me and they are normal now
I somehow retain awareness of where I am.
I see before me, a creature rising;
From the shadows it grins and bares its fangs
'I am the end, which you so desperately seek,
And the mo

On the sea.
With my friends,
Right by me.
We will sail,
To these lands.
But our hands.
Though we feel,
Lost at sea.
We still know,
We are free.
Come and join,
Raise your hands,
We will sail,
To these lands...

DelusionDelusion:Delusion in Free Verse More Like This
You've covered yourself with blankets
Like you're hiding from the bogey man.
You're so enraptured with your own ego
That you reject the helping hand!
You twisted what was a friendly gesture
And called it your very right.
Now it's time for you to fade away
Into the bitter cold of night.
I'm about to show you reality
So stay tuned and watch me work.
I'll paint you a vivid picture
That'll give your heart a jerk...
See you thought you should be top side;
Basking in the morning glory
But you're sitting in a filthy sewer
This is your fucking story.
When first you stepped upon the crowds;
Like a sea of angry sharks
They rose upon a swelling wave
And sent you somewhere dark.
Bleeding, chopped and mutilated
Hung like a chunk of rotting meat...
Just give up on your diginity
And accept your own defeat.

Gangsta PiratesGangsta Pirates:Gangsta Pirates in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Come here and sit tight, I'll tell you bout the pirating life
It's like we're living on the edge gun-pointed and knife!
See the killer crews stabbin'; the looters start grabbin'
All the little gubbins and bits, the girls are nabbin'!
Rollin' through the seas in a ship that is black,
You asked me for my cannons but you saw I was stacked!
Forty-two, I got em on the prows and sides,
We be the pirates rollin' with the heat on our ride.
Like a tippin' iceberg yeah our crew is tight.
We raidin' merchant ships deep in the dead of the night.
See I'm a ghost-like killer, soul to the swiller,
To think I would have been the son of a miller.
No grains in my coach, just treasure that's fat.
I got me ten trunks full and a chest in the back.
Now we headin' to the seas cause we bury it right?
Ya ain't gonna find where we it put it aight!
No maps, no clues,
We don't touch the booze.
You won't find my treasure
Cause I ain't gonna lose...

A World of BloodA World of Blood:A World of Blood in Free Verse More Like This
The spirits whisper on a chilling wind
As the blood continues to flow.
I can hear the demons screaming within
As the darkness continues to grow...
Humankind will always be foolish;
Rash decisions are an instinctive need.
But how could they have forgotten our ways;
Tradition is lost to greed...
The zealous will kill the innocent again
As the greedy play out a game of chess.
A book of gods becomes a creed;
It is a ragged shell at best...
My sisters die in the tens of hundreds
And innocent girls are slaughtered like swine.
I'm afraid that in this dying world;
The God of Blood shall dine...
The blind shall follow in his burning steps;
They will see within him a flame and fire.
And he knows that the hearts of passionate men
Are easily laced with glorious desire...
In dreams he calls and grants them strength
He sends his 'angels' to enchant the night.
He turns the blind into seeing creatures
And robs them of the light...
But it is h
Alone but AliveAlone but Alive:Alone but Alive in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
Oh here I am standing,
A lost soul is landing.
The coldest December,
Can you still remember?
Do you even hear me?
There's no one around me!
Oh shadow that I see,
The void right behind me.
Yet still I am breathing;
Yet still I am feeling.
The coldest sensation,
Oh worthless creation!
Are you still crying?
Oh why are you lying - abandoned and cold
Cold like what was left of soul,
Made of all the life you stole.
Walk divine but made of sin,
Worm of hatred squrim within.
Sin of lust and sin of pride,
Lash the tongue that last has lied.
Yours was silver with a promise,
Kiss of death and then you vomit.
Burning bile of ugly treason,
No one else can know the reason.
Left a soul behind to burn;
You are the reason I have turned...
On this cold and endless night...
When I'm finally pierced by the light...
And I awaken from this hell...
ALONE - BUT ALIVE!
Alive and again oh do I dare?
To give this heart and to lay it bare.
When heaven cast its fate
Child PreyChild Prey:Child Prey in Free Verse More Like This
He sat in his corner
Like a cold winter horror
The child that has turned out this way...
As a boy he was painted
By your lies he was tainted
Now in the devil's grip he'll stay...
Though you plead as you might
You've caused your own plight
I'm afraid that you die tonight...
It's a pitiful sight
When things are set right
For only in death can you see this light...
"Now then, move along sir, I've got other souls to welcome to hell..."

Practice Poem - Man In CagePractice Poem - Man in Cage:Practice Poem - Man In Cage in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
When I was young I was taught that pain begets pain,
Anger and animosity, malice and cruelty;
So deeply inflicted, so lovingly gifted.
I tasted of its rotten core and dared to call it sweet.
But what do I have to show for it?
White hot scars that burn in my dreams.
Reminders of a fragmented bi-polar self;
Self inflicted propaganda, to reinforce the "truth".
Truth so lovingly fabricated by a weakness within,
So desperately crying out for vindication;
Openly denying all that might shed light upon me,
Seeking only the company of shades in shadows...
Within four walls I sleep in exile;
Quietly pretending that I am still sane,
Never noticing how it has all turned out;
Alone I remain the same...
Never reaching, never living; I am free within the cage

You Can't Stop MeYou Can't Stop Me:You Can't Stop Me in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Cold, I'm sittin' here,
You see me cut the lights out
Stains on the inside;
I'm tired of being wiped out.
Cleaned, like the stone weathered down in the rain,
You wore me down to my core; now let me bring on the pain!
Uh-huh, now let me turn it slow for you all
Uh-huh, I'm grabbin' at the stars till they fall
Uh-huh, I'm never gonna die; I stand tall
Uh-huh, I'm breakin' through this fuckin' brick wall.
You know, that I will be the voice in your mind.
You know, that it will be the lyrical kind
You see, the way I put my words into rhyme
If I was rapping out of rhythm, man this would be a crime.
So hear, my voice and I will make you believe
That I, still have a few tricks up my sleeve.
I'm not, a criminal with a disease
So let me hear you once more, let me make you believe
Uh-huh, I'm turnin' it slow for you all

How many days do you spend now, putting me down?
The coffin call for a dead man waiting around
"He's just an underground laughing stock, never to rise"
But on the seventh day I'm coming back; these are my ties!
The kind of promise that you made with the devil inside
You try to take away my soul, but I take it in stride
I ain't a doll that is crushed by the weight of his pride
I am the real and the raw of the things you denied!
You're playing snake games, selling oil, pass it off strong
You're just a pot head, weed dead, smoking your bong.
You try to look away, play and hide; apathy's best
But I'm the kind of bad boy you don't put to the test!

MonstersWhat do monsters look like? Are they fanged and pale? Do they hide under our beds and in our closets? No, the real monsters of this world are not vampires or werewolves. They are our peers. They kill us with words not with fangs. They hide in the very depths of our minds making us believe that we are imperfect, making us believe that we don't belong. When will a superhero come and dry our tears? When will a hero come and rescue us from such monsters? Never. The only way to stop this monster domination is kindness. Whenever your peer says something mean and hurtful to you be a hero and instead of saying something mean back like the monster lurking inside of you wants you to do, say something nice. Turn the other cheek. If you do that then it will spread like a wildfire killing all of the monsters around you within weeks.Monsters in Emotional More Like This
